Board Volunteer Application
Are you interested in being a Board Volunteer for /a/?
Being a Board Volunteer is not about "scoring a victory" or "winning a battle". It's a consistent routine - it does not have a "complete" status.
To become a volunteer, first create a 8chan.moe account. Then read "3. Board Moderation" here:
https://8chan.moe/.static/pages/moderation.html - and then send an email to a8chvolunteer@gmail.com with your 8chan.moe username and your answers to a total of five questions. Specifically, answer questions 9-10, and 3 other questions of your choosing. You must be able to receive emails at the address you're sending from. It is recommended to use a throwaway email (recent events involving another website come to mind).
Question list:
1. Based on the 8chan moderation guidelines, explain the difference between a "Local Report" and a "Global Report." Provide an example of a situation on the /a/ board where you would use a Global Report instead of a Local Report.
2. A user repeatedly posts low-effort, off-topic posts in /a/ board (e.g., single-word posts like "cuck" with no context). Describe step-by-step how you would handle this situation, including which 8chan moderation tools you would use and why.

My brothers I am a former 4chan user like many of you, I come here to request you come join me and your other lost brothers on soyjak party, /a/ board and whatever boards you like. We are weak now because we have all split apart but our brotherhood was one of our biggest strengths whether you're willing to admit it or not. The board functions almost exactly like 4chan but with no captcha or time limits and only some of the boards there are completely ruined by spammers (don't even dare look at /tv) you can say whatever you want and many of us have already gathered there and are trying to improve the posting experience by posting quality but we can't do this alone. The /fit/sport/wrestling board has already greatly imrpoved and I think we can do it with /a/. 8chan is great but we have to gather together especially if 4chan is killed for good

Sisters in anime
I was recently watching a shitty jewtube video about this (it was filled with shit opinions), and it made me think about how it feels pretty uncommon to have actually good sister characters in anime.
Or at least, its not the first thing that comes to mind for a lot of people.
I can think of good bro and brother characters easily, but good sister characters is a bit more uncommon and unusual.
I'm not talking about sisters who are merely just attractive, as any red-blooded man in Japan is capable of creating a great waifu regardless if they're a sister or not (though being attractive definitely doesn't hurt).
Usually the relationships are a bit harder to do well I feel like, and they're a bit odd.
One example of a good sister I thought of was Sanji's sister Reiju from One Piece. I liked her a lot and I felt the way Oda portrayed her was excellent and fitting. She wasn't just

It was more like she was genuinely kind and had a feminine perspective, and did her best for him despite the tough situation she was in, and all the pressure she was under to be someone horrible, and instead she ended up being great for what she did. **Yes I know that the image doesn't really spotlight her as much as it does Sanji's mom, sue me; Nobody does good fanart).
Kill la Kill didn't have a mind-blowingly amazing one with Satsuki and Ryuko, but it was good enough. I liked the ending since it felt impactful and proper, though I felt like Mako was more of a sister to Ryuko throughout the series than Satsuki was if I'm being honest so I'd rather give more credit to her personally.
I think Shiro from No Game No Life is excellent, personally. She and Sora work so well together, it just fits, plus they love each other and its cute, funny and sweet how they handle such things. Great dynamic portrayed well imo, they have their own talents and abilities and kinda fight each other playfully for dominance. Plus she's adorable.

What are your favorites? Could be blood-related or friendships and relationships that feel close to them being sisters to someone. One can fairly argue someone like Winry from FMA as akin to a sister to the protagonists for example (or at least Hughes' daughter), but I feel that it might get complicated.
Can be for any reason, not just the ones I stated. Like simpler, shallow and perverted reasons work too for personal preference of course.
I was just trying to think of ones I consider actually good sisters I suppose.

How does the Turn A Gundam Correct Century work? Spoilers for the show but it's plot centers around the mystery of the Dark History. An era before the current time which in the show's setting is a Victorian era level of tech society with planes & blimps. This Dark History is hinted at & outright said to be essentially the history of at least 4 previous Gundam timelines. From my understanding, each timeline is supposed to be a different universe.

The scanlation team at Hokuto no Gun got up to chapter 11, but that was back in 2012. First off God damn that's a long subtitle, as ridiculously long a title to have to begin with they managed to top even that. Seriously what a fucking mouthful.
So this anime is shilled a lot, and yesterday I finally was convinced to try it out.
I began with the prequel movie "My conquest is the sea of stars", and I have serious issues with the last ten minutes, and nowhere else more appropriate to air them.
There's a giant fleet engagement with about a million vessels taking part, as the democratic "good guys" are getting creamed they come up with a move to win. Three guys take a ship and kick everyone else off (if these ships don't need gunners to fire the guns, engineers to oversee the powerplant, marines for boarding actions, or even crewman to man radar. Then why the hell are these ships manned at all?) Then fly up to the enemy commander, come along side and sit there. The entire warzone goes quiet. Everyone to afraid to fire a single shot, EVEN MILLIONS OF KILOMETRES AWAY, for fear the commanders vessel might be struck. The "good guys" (who were getting crushed) use this confusion to sail away in peace, leaving this single vessel with three crewman alone behind enemy lines.
Then that ship leaves too.
That was the summary and already I bet many can see the obvious issues with this plot.
1. Coming alongside another vessel does indeed mean you probably won't be targeted by canon fire, sure, BUT that simply means you are commiting a boarding action. Pistols and sabers time. So why doesnt the "imperialistic" "badguy" commander sound repel boarders and? Or when it's clear he isn't being boarded, BOARD THE OTHER SHIP.
2. why the fuck would you let the enemy go?
3. Why would a ship fighting off boarders (which has been a common occurence for so long as naval vessels have existed I.E. all of western history) silence not just his own side, but the other side as well?
4. In a battlespace billions of kilometres wide why would anyone else give a shit?
5. Why let the enemy suicide vessel go? Why would noone take a potshot after it left the side of the commanders ship?
6. Is the entire series this monumentally retarded? Did the author even look into naval tactics from any century?
7. Will it get better?
I mean what kinda ship doesn't have marines on board? How is there no procedure for dealing with a close in enemy? Traditionally you board it, kill the crew, and then cut away boarding ropes, wait til you are out of range of it exploding, and then sink the bastard. Or you take control of the enemy vessel, crew it, and keep fighting now with another ship in your flotilla.
I just don't understand how that was a conundrum that has never occured in that animes world. Simple fucking shit guys.
All that being said I liked it. Good music, good art, cool massive fleet battle.
On the negative sides, bad dialogue (or maybe stilted is a better way of phrasing that) stupid understanding of warfare, and silly deus ex machina at the end for all the main characters to live.
I'm thinking of making diagrams of the battle, and ones of Lord Nelson's victory at Trafalgar to further demonstrate how ridiculously naive the writer was in terms of tactics, complete with footnotes to the equipment available in the anime and the tactical considerations such weaponry necessitates. I don't know about tonight though. Oddly not feeling nearly autistic and angry enough to commit to what will be a minimum of three hours of work to create something that honestly only 3 people will ever see.

Why this series is deemed ecchi?
I wondered about that but still have no answer,several people claims are about sexy character design,or mature content but to date after reading all the manga and watching the anime which felt like a chore still nothing.
The manga designs are rather basic and unapealing in most cases which had chizuru in a bikini she looked like a transgender man similar to the designs of gokudolls,the manga barelly had something similar to ecchi content the closest is the allusion of kazuya masturbating and that would be it,the anime design is different but goes for moe factor so less reasons there.

First of all HOW IN THE FUCK was the protagonist able master 48 style of combat while in fucking high school? I could understand if it was some grizzled assassin or something like that but why on gods earth did the author make him a high school student? I think the idea of someone going insane from media to the point that they try to learn magic just because they want to have equal power to a nuke is kinda cool, but fuck me sideways if they didn't make him too young.
Another thing that bothers me is his fucking harem and how he somehow guessed that there was a cult in society rather than just learning it from a young age. He's the biggest mary sue and it bothers me on spiritual level. I swear if I get reincarnated into an Isakai, I hope it's as the same world as Cid so I can poor water on him. Seriously, I fucking hate this manga but I also kinda like it as well. Like there's some interesting twists and turns, but I fucking hate the protagonist.

So naturally, it ended the only way you'd expect it to end, with sensei fucking the shit out of Rin (or at least trying, since his dick didn't fit inside and it hurt her)
Furthermore, Reiji was an absolute scumbag. why did he got any sort of peace? I wonder if the author was even aware of hos disliked he is, since he is responsible for the mess Rin grew up into by doing what can only be described as grooming. He didn't deserve to end up with Mimi-chan
There's a brief time-skip to first year of highschool on the final chapter so they can attain by age of consent, and most notoriously the Ishihara Act and it jumps straight to the action, Rin's body didn't develop so the lolicon could have what they wanted (I assume) and it just fucking ends there. What are some anime/manga that are impossible to find subbed in English? There are a lot of obscure children's anime that subbing groups from 08 and below attempted to sub, but ultimately gave up because of shitty bandwidth and shitty Japanese. It's no surprise that kid's shows like Kaiketsu Zorori are only noticed by pants shitting furries in the west, but there are still so many Japan-exclusive kiddie shows that will never get subbed. Even big names like Shin-chan never get any English translations outside of the 90s-early 2000s episodes.

I'm a bit of a newfag to DBZ, I watched some of the Cell saga on Toonami, then watched (((TeamFourStar's))) abridged series.
In between that long-ass hiatus, I watched the Kai version of DBZ on Nicktoons, up to about Frieza saga I think. Then I started to watch less TFS and watch the actual series with two DVDs. Funnily enough, both were about the Cell Games; the first being Orange Brick, and the other being part of the Dragon Box.
I want to get more DVDs of them, but I don't want to give Funi any shekels; I've managed to avoid that so far by buying my current DVDs from a pawn shop on whims. Anyone know of any online stores that aren't ran by fags that sell DVDs of Dragon Ball?

So, I decided to drop
UFO Senshi Dai Apolon after 17 episodes. It's not a bad series, it's okay, but I just grew bored with the show.
The premise is that Takeshi is the prince of a planet that was conquered by the Dazaan Army, and was sent to Earth as a baby in order to ensure his survival. He then grows up in an orphanage, and gains a passion for American football while living there. Then, on his 16th birthday, he is struck by a meteor that imbues him with the Key Energy power that his planet's people had developed as their "ultimate weapon". Takeshi and his friends are then abducted by his guardian, Rabi, who informs him of his origin and gives him and his friends a giant robot, Dai Apolon, and several UFOs in order to fight off the Dazaan Army and protect the Key Energy that now reside within Takeshi. The rest of the series then details the Dazaan Army's various attempts to gain the Key Energy along with trying to figure out the true identity Dai Apolon's pilot. The series boils down to three different episode were something effects the "UFO Boy Scouts" on a personal level, some outsider gets involved in the fights, or the leaders of the Dazaan Army are trying out one of their various "just created" super-weapons to defeat Dai Apolon.
It's pretty formulaic, and it just feels like an attempt to sell toys. There are some moments in the series were it does decide to get a little bit more "mature" with it's premise as innocent people are dying during some of the episodes, but it feels like it's there just to be there and show how "evil" the villains are (As if mass genocide and enslavement across the galaxy wasn't reason enough). And, the show never really moves beyond that. There are a few times were the Dazaans do some espionage and end up kidnapping the wrong people thinking they have times to Dai Apolon, along with some general rivalries and tensions taking place within the various generals of the Dazaan Army, but it never really moves beyond that or does anything unique with it.
As for the animation, the art is fine but the show feels very stilted and limited in it's animation. And, with the audio, there really isn't much music to speak of, the sound effects are great, but all the voices sound like the characters are always shouting no matter what they say.
Overall, I wasn't really that impressed with
UFO Senshi Dai Apolon. Like I said, it isn't a bad series, but I just grew too bored with it to the point that I didn't care about finishing it off.

Mistakes in English Manga Releases
This is mostly just for my own archival purposes but if anyone else has found mistakes in manga volumes they've bought, in english, then feel free to drop them. What I got range from typos to missing letters to printing errors. First two are from Demon Slayer. The third is from The Promised Neverland. The fourth is Levius/est & the fifth one is from Sekiro Side Story: Hanbei the Undying.
Speaking of that last one, the error is that the woman they refer to is the boy's mother. Not his sister.

Get soku, then extract contents of swrs toys (modpack archive) directly into the same folder.

The Golden Age of Anime
What do (You) think was the golden age of anime?
Personally, I think between 2000-2016 was the golden age
Not that there wasn't great anime before and after those times, but I personally feel in terms of the greatest and most amount of the amazing anime came out in that period of time, and my most favorites.
Comparatively, I can count the number of great anime (to me that i've seen at least) in the 90s on maybe 2 hands, and the 80s and earlier on 1. or so
There are great anime coming after 2016 too, but a lot of them are still ongoing or something or are just really good, but not as good as my absolute favorites.
But those are just my opinions, what about yours?
I posed this question on /animu/ several months ago; my opinion has not changed since then so far at least, though there have been some good anime as of late that I'm enjoying, they haven't reached the peaks of that golden age so far. A lot of ongoing stories still probably need a decade or so to develop since many only just have their starts right now

I'm currently sitting at 700ish downloaded titles, most of them are incomplete due to the usual drop of interest by the scanlators but a sizable chunk should be all the classics and the niche hits.
I was wondering if you guys would be so nice as to suggest to me a bunch more. Not just "what you're reading right now", it's more about getting a comprehensive list of the most important, fun, interesting or historically significant manga you know of. Young Love/Romance/Romcom Anime
I need some recommendations for Young Love/Romance/Romcom anime, it has to be something similar to how it was handled in Hime Chan no Ribbon or Cardcaptor Sakura (those are the only examples I have, I don't have any others; hence why I am here).
If you haven't seen either of these, I guess the things that make them unique regarding romance is that it's treated seriously so there isn't endless cockteasing like in modern romance works (Uzaki-chan, Nagatoro, Komi-san, et cetera) and while tasteful comedy is present, there is also tasteful drama. Also another key point is that the love needs to be young, either early highschool or pre highschool. Don't ask me why, it's just better that way. More innocent, pure, cute.
