I caught a few stray spoilers here and there from the 4chan thread, very vague ones, the one hint I think I got that stands out was something about Hairi being a dad or something? Maybe Umi's? Over the past day I've started to piece together a theory. Maybe the swimming backstory is a red herring and he really travelled back in time away from a sad future, and the "two birds" Shiroha was watching were Umi and Hairi traveling back in time, to this "time where he had family and friends and had fun in the best summer vacation"
