Its and AU, so we don't really need the deep lore - Zeon won, feds lost and take it from there. Both Seed and 00 had a pretty basic intro to set up the world and basic premise, so i don't see a reason to stray from the formula, It comes of as a pointless refference.

This anime can either be Sunrise's shining moment and for the FLCL director or a even bigger trainwreck than something since G-Reco. I'm still really eager to see what Anno has cooked up since 2018 for this and why it took so long vs just making it a OVA. But the staff didn't appear too eager to make a slimmed down Zeonic remake of Zeta since they couldn't figure out a way to include Scirocco (this was included in a pamphlet according to movie-goers), so I'm thinking there's no way they're going for Z/ZZ/CCA territory too much.

It's a little surprising but not unexpected that the overstretched Zeon forces lose Solomon and do an orderly retreat from Odessa with the minerals that M'Quve captured, that was always the plan iirc. Gcucks is just swapping Char for Ramba Ral and leaning more on the psycommu than the feddies taking heavier losses in general. Speaking of the Flanagan Institute, it would be nice if Kuzco Al shows up. It's possible for both Garma and Degwin to survive the war in this timeline. I prefer the Tomino novel timeline though. The way the novel goes is that the OYW is fought only in space so Zeon doesn't spam designs or lose as many MS and the Federation has less combat experience. The Federation takes heavier losses than in the anime during the campaign to A Baoa Qu, then the Solar System effectively wipes out their fleet. Some dumb stuff happens but the remaining Zeon forces at Granada capture Luna II and force the Federation to surrender because Zeon has total orbital dominance (i.e. infinite Operation Britishes) and Luna II is their main manufacturing facility in the novel.
