SaGa Thread Anonymous 04/19/2025 (Sat) 00:15:19 Id: dabdef No. 1139572 [Reply]
I'm kinda curious about the SaGa series. I've only played Frontier 2 (but got filtered by South Moundtop) but the remaster doesn't look worth the money. And I gotta admit, from the outside, the fanbase looks like victims of Stockholm Syndrome. What do you think are the ones actually worth playing?
1 post omitted.
>>1140227 Did a little research on my own, and the Romancing SaGa 2 remake actually looks really good. It's strange that I don't remember hearing anything about it even though it only came out a few months ago. I think I'll give that a shot. I remember hearing that Emerald Beyond was a dumpster fire. What's your take on it? The fact that it had a crossover with Vampire Survivors for some fucking reason at least has me curious what fans thought of it.
Overall I'd say they're all worth trying but for most people some games will click and some won't. Before the remake Romancing SaGa 2 was a great game and a good intro to the series; now it's even better. I agree with RS3 and Frontier 1 also being safe picks. And Final Fantasy Legend II is worth a mention, it's not what most people think of when asking about the SaGa series but it's a good game if you're looking for a simple gameboy JRPG. The more complex games like Unlimited SaGa and Emerald Beyond have some die-hard defenders but also many people that got filtered. Like me. They're not bad games, I think, I just don't get them. On the other hand I loved the equally divisive The Last Remnant (which is technically not a SaGa game but it's often grouped together)
>>1140463 I liked it and think it has a really good combat system for a turn based RPG but it's pretty much a continuation of the style of Scarlet Grace with a low budget 3d presentation and a focus on combat at the expense of things like cities and dungeons so it's easy to see why it's a divisive entry. Personally, I thought EB needed more polish but there's definitely some interesting ideas and it's the kind of game you can replay many times and still find some new stuff due to the way it's designed.

Otherwise GOOD games with bad music Anonymous 04/12/2025 (Sat) 17:00:46 Id: 3a6e43 No. 1088454 [Reply]
Are there any (otherwise) good games with bad music overall? There's a lot with forgettable or bland music, and certainly some with a few really crap tracks as well as some with no music, but all the ones I can think of with bad music don't even have bad compositions, but are just (at worst) decent compositions completely undercut by technical limits like poor audio hardware/storage space (pic 2 related) or specific to certain versions of the game. Pic 3 (It's essentially a level pack for THPS4) music is one I turn off, but Is suspect the target audience in 2003 would have been more appreciative.

Sekiro There were like 2 good songs in the whole game
Metroid Dread. Only track I remember was the one in the lava factory area that sounded like "Something's Up With Jack" from Nightmare Before Christmas, only for how unfitting it was in a Metroid game. Good game, dogshit soundtrack.

DARKITY DARK DARKNESS Some thread questions >Favorite entry? >Favorite Heartless? >Favorite Keyblade? >Favorite character? >Favorite world? We're now in one of the longest gaps between mainline KH games. If KH4 comes out next year, they'll tie the the seven-year gap between Dream Drop Distance to Kingdom Hearts III. I miss major games being a regular occurrence, we've been almost exclusively getting flash and mobileshit for a decade plus now and it does not help the last major entry was a huge disappointment. On that note, is there any way to even play KHX and its spinoffs anymore? I have no idea if there's a preserved version archivists host, or if they were worth playing to begin with. They had really cute art.

>>1139224 This is the most reasonable defense I have seen for days so far, but I did not enjoy the enemy design or the mission structure of the game especially bosses like ruler of the sky and the stealth mission respectively. Ruler of the skies is by far the worst mandatory boss fight in the series as far as I am concerned. I did also use magic when I replayed it after years, but it only made the game easier, but not enjoyable or engaging. I didn't rate Re:CoM high, but I did feel like there was potential in the gameplay and would play a sequel/stand alone series with the same battle system. which is I will relent on the gba version. However your post did make me consider to replay DDD and check how bad the nintendogs aspect is on a replay and reconsider it's rank, but days will never be above re:CoM or BBS especially not re:coded or any of the numbered titles.
>>1139884 I'll admit the story to Days carries it quite heavily, but I also find the game impressive that it took KH's gameplay and Faithfully put it on the DS, it just happens that Re:Coded took it a step further and did a better job in terms of gameplay complexity. I was also playing Days with Retro achievements, so I was more invested in the game then simply beating it, so I did plenty to add extra depth the game then is required to beat it.
>>1139962 I wasn't a fan of day's story at all so that didn't help me either.

This used to be a console exclusive (PS3/X360), but it's out already on PC along with those other new consoles (no word on Steam Deck support yet). There's supposedly no censorship, but the licensed music and DLC are removed. Discuss the gameplay, plot, and more here.

STOP KILLING GAMES CAMPAIGN Anonymous 04/03/2024 (Wed) 10:24:44 Id: dc9eb5 No. 954406 [Reply] [Last]
TO EUROBROS AND STRAYAN ANONS: YOU CAN DO YOUR PART AND TAKE ACTION TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD, AS A CONSUMER, TO STOP GAMES AS A SERVICE. https://www.stopkillinggames.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w70Xc9CStoE >An increasing number of videogames are sold as goods, but designed to be completely unplayable for everyone as soon as support ends. The legality of this practice is untested worldwide, and many governments do not have clear laws regarding these actions. It is our goal to have authorities examine this behavior and hopefully end it, as it is an assault on both consumer rights and preservation of media. This campaign originally started from some youtuber who hated the fact that The Crew, an Ubishit racing game, would close their online services and making the game he purchased basically unplayable. Even if it would technically be possible to run the game offline, it's unfortunately prevented by DRM and other jewish nonsense plaguing modern gaming today. He is making a rallying campaign, asking for the 12 million people who effectively got scammed after buying The Crew to make their voice heard and complain about this, so that governments can take action and hopefully set a precedent to destroy GAAS as we know it in an effort to preserve videogames. Any step taken towards making publishers and greedy kike game companies release offline versions of multiplayer-only games is a win. Any effort contributing to popularizing the now lost practice of giving server tools to gamers for them to make their own community servers is a good thing in my eyes. If you care about vidya, it's in your best interest to spread awareness of this campaign and do as much as you possibly can, even if you don't like the EU. Sign petitions, screech about it, etc. They've shown that they can seriously cripple anti-consumer practices, as seen with Apple.

Thrive a game by revolutionary games Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 15:57:13 Id: 339909 No. 1114658 [Reply]
Thrive is an opensource evolution games inspired by spore and infact can trace back it's origin to sporum. Currently it's in very early development in that only the first stage is actually functional from a gameplay standpoint. The game obviously starts you off as a cell and so far simulates everything from thebplanet generation, population and evolution of different species of cells, predation and many more. The game has plans for 3d multicellular animal stages you will be avle to play as a static plant too to spacefaring civilization and to a sandbox stage where your species ascends and becomes a god. These later stages are in the game but only as prototypes. https://www.revolutionarygamesstudio.com/downloads
>>1114658 Wow that's cool to see someone else know about this little game, it's been worked on for a while now. I think this game could immensely benefit from generative AI technology.
