Kingdom Hearts thread Anonymous 03/01/2025 (Sat) 15:53:33 Id: 2549ae No. 1075456
DARKITY DARK DARKNESS Some thread questions >Favorite entry? >Favorite Heartless? >Favorite Keyblade? >Favorite character? >Favorite world? We're now in one of the longest gaps between mainline KH games. If KH4 comes out next year, they'll tie the the seven-year gap between Dream Drop Distance to Kingdom Hearts III. I miss major games being a regular occurrence, we've been almost exclusively getting flash and mobileshit for a decade plus now and it does not help the last major entry was a huge disappointment. On that note, is there any way to even play KHX and its spinoffs anymore? I have no idea if there's a preserved version archivists host, or if they were worth playing to begin with. They had really cute art.
>>1089550 >>1089552 Kingdom Hearts 3 is actually very good, with the DLC. The main issue with Base KH3 is while it has good stuff in it, the game doesn't show off it's best aspects well enough. It probably the easiest to Mash to win out of all the games, so unless you go out of your way to Experiment, there is little reason to learn the games depth. The DLC adds some pretty good new story parts, like you get to play as Kairi for the first time ever in one fight, and she's a fucking Monster in combat, it's great. Thankfully mods let you play as all the characters outside of these small segments in the DLC. The best addition to the game with the DLC is just like most Final Mix versions, you get the Super Bosses, the Data Organization boss selection is a thing once again, so all the fights that were too easy in the base game now get to show their true Potential in the DLC. You also get the final DLC fight which is easily one of the toughest but also best fights not just in Kingdom Hearts, but action games in General. The DLC also very much improves the base game, since now you can use Pro-Codes to remove anything that makes the game too easy, and Tailor the difficulty to what you desire. I did a run on Beginner mode with all the Pro-Codes just for an a Achievement, and after you get far enough I'm sure that choosing Beginner didn't even matter anymore since the Stats of the bosses were so high, and mine were so low, so I might as well have chosen Critical for the few bonus Critical mode only Abilities that could have come in handy. KH3 still has some Rougher aspects, since I'm pretty sure they had to switch game engines mid-development, and that was likely a big setback for them, so that explains why the base came was kind of lacking when it came to extra content. The game doesn't even have a proper Colosseum, like KH1 and KH2 despite the fact Hercules is in the game. Without the DLC the game was very underwhelming, but with the DLC KH3 gets to show it's true potential. It's all worth it for that Final DLC boss fight, since it's actually some of the coolest shit in the entire franchise. Easily just as cool as Mysterious figure must have been for people playing KH2 Final mix and seeing him for the very first time.
Is it normal to play like a giant pussy during a KH2FM lvl 1 Crit playthrough?
>>1089921 Well you have two options. Play it safe to the point it's boring, or git gud, and learn how to predict, avoid, and counter all attacks. I'm not sure why you'd play a lvl 1 Crit playthrough it you didn't want to get skilled, but I suppose early on in the game before you unlock Vital abilities, it's okay to play it safe, and later once you get the good stuff you have more room for bing on the offensive.
>>1090199 My only defensive abilities so far is the regular block so I've just been avoiding enemies that aren't necessary so far and am now stuck at the Hades escape sequence.
>>1090223 Well then you probably need to be making more use of limits commands or summons, Chicken Little is actually a surprisingly useful summon early on, since he'll have an ability similar to Magnet, check back with Merlin when you can, since he'll probably have the charm to summon him. That being said, I still didn't get around to doing lvl 1 in KH2 myself, so I can only offer so much in terms of advice.

>>1089851 I just wish the game had a higher difficulty mode. It's so braindead easy that even casuals I knew said they found it unengaging. >>1090312 When are they not? Lusting over humans in a series that has the Heartless is a beta mindset, female or not
Why do people like this dog shit franchise?
>>1110454 its peak 2000s cringekino i hate what its become but i still go back to stuff from the first two occasionally https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHXIDMowuzE
>>1110454 I'm glad it exists so I can make fun of it. Can't believe people actually play this shit, though.
>>1110573 >Disney has destroyed Star Wars and worse Mark Hamill has gone CRAZY with his politics and soured the image of Luke the main hero of Star Wars so right now Star Wars has no draw Damn, you seemed like you were making sense but this is clearly some stupid nonsense so now it kind of discredits the rest of your post.
Refugees, you don't have to go away but can you stop being a fucking cancer?
What no Kingdom Hearts does to a guy
>>1110863 Not so much you, but the people coming in just saying "actually ur game sucks lmao" and nothing else, though some of those posts were deleted since I said that. >>1111037 There are a lot of female Heartless already but I don't question the vision. >And I would also add in Non Human women because I find it in bad taste that Kingdom Hearts is a series about traveling to different worlds and all the original worlds are populated by boring shitty humans. For crying out loud where are the aliens and robots and anthros? You mean non-enemy, original robot and elemental characters? That's never quite been Kingdom Hearts vibe. Though most of its non-humans aren't women, try Rogue Galaxy?
>4chan dies >suddenly the usual suspects that kept spamming "khfags this", "KH sucks", "Disney sucks"" and other buzzwords start appearing here Wlw you really are a sad and insecure child huh? Instead of using this opportunity of 4chan dying to do other things you continue to seethe and make hating KH your entire personality

>>1110454 When it comes to Kingdom Hearts, you either go all in or not at all. If you are at all cynical about the concept, it's never going to work for you. Kingdom Hearts in its Narrative is entirely sincere in everything it does. It's not just a game that Features Disney characters and final fantasy characters. The entire game is about how cool it would be if you were a hero, and you got to visit all these different worlds and meet all these characters, and from Honest bonds with them. If you see Winnie the Pooh and your gut Instinct, isn't >"Hell yeah I want to hang out with Winnie the Pooh" But you also need to be able to bounce from that interaction with Winnie the Pooh, into later meeting Sephiroth, and being so Immersed and Invested you don't even notice how Fundamentally at odds the existence of those two characters is. These games aren't just a cash grab, they are as authentic to these franchises as possible with the exception that it's a different universe for the Final Fantasy characters, so they're Reinterpreted to fit the story, and they may not align exactly with their mainline FF counterparts. The best Kingdom Hearts worlds are the ones that aren't Directly retelling the stories of the Disney movies they are a part of, and are actually telling a New story for that world like Tron, The Tron world in KH2 isn't just a retelling of the Movie Tron, it's a continuation the Original Tron still happened without you. They didn't put Tron into the game because it was going to sell more copies, Tron had been a Dead franchise for years at that point. They picked Tron because they were inspired by the film. Seeing KH out of context can make it all seem like it's Ridiculous, but that's simply because KH isn't self conscious about what it is. It's going to turn one of the characters into the "Blind sword master" trope because it's cool, and because it fit that point in the story line. These games will actively get as much of the original voice actors as possible to reprise their roles for the characters, so if you at all like any of these characters it'll be like genuinely seeing them again. Hades for example has been voiced by James Woods, and he loves it when a new KH game is coming out because he gets to reprise that role, he just enjoys being Hades and you hear it in his Performance. This is all Not to mention the gameplay of KH is also very high quality.
>>1114003 >If you see Winnie the Pooh and your gut Instinct, isn't >"Hell yeah I want to hang out with Winnie the Pooh" I was going to finish that with "it's not gonna work" but I reformatted what I was writing. Regardless, the over all point is Kingdom Hearts is only going to work for you, if you see it and say "Yes. this is for me" You have to be able to look though the eyes you used to have as a kid again. It All obviously works much better when you actually are a kid when you first play KH.

Which map cards should I save? I can't trade them for moogle points so do I just discard them?
>>1111705 There's a video of him calling a cop a nazi kike so I think Disney is going to kick him from the franchise.
>>1134121 I haven't heard many people bring this up so I doubt it.
>>1134200 https://x.com/nypost/status/1913212438507348199 He tried to board a ski lift without any skis on and with his helmet on backwards
>>1131546 Well one thing you should be aware of is that while premium cards sound nice, they have a drawback. When you use a premium card it can't be reloaded normally, if you don't know that it can be easy to make the mistake of filling your deck with too many Premium cards. It's fine to have them if you are planning to use sleights anyway, but for normal use they're not reliable. so take that into Consideration when it comes to your premium drop map cards. As for the other map cards, if you care about going for 100% then depending on the map cards you have, you can use them to manipulate RNG. So that when an enemy is defeated they are guaranteed to drop their enemy card. There are plenty of videos and such to find the methods on manipulating RNG, so you'd know which cards you'd want to keep and which aren't a big deal. If you don't care about going for all the enemy cards then it really doesn't matter which cards you keep around and which ones you get rid off. It's just a good idea to keep the numbers and colors of the cards you have balanced. So that when you need those cards to open the special doors, you won't need to do a bunch of grinding because you don't have a Green 6 or something.
>>1134299 Meh seems small scale. It'll probably blow over by the time KH4 happens.
>>1110454 The gameplay and light RPG mechanics make my peepee diamond hard.
>play first game >enjoy it >play second game >enjoy the gameplay improvements, find the story weird and stupid, don't like the forms and summon changes, don't like the reliance on triangle moves, hate atlantis being turned into a gay rhythm game >play chain of memories >meh, but kind of cool how they got fmvs on the gba >all this other shit >question how it kept going and who cared about it >watch someone play a bit of kh3 years ago >jesus christ the summons are just disney theme park ride ads now

2>1>3>re:coded=>0.2>BBS=>DDD=>Re:CoM>days. This is the objective ranking, but since I am a merciful god I will grant you some leeway. Putting 1 over 2 is respectable, because 1 is the most soulful game in the series. BBS, DDD and Re:CoM are completely interchangeable. GBA CoMfags get the benefit of the doubt and can place it anywhere 1 below and 2. Just so that everyone here knows.
>>1138631 The Disney theme park rides were One of the most criticized aspects of KH3 and you can disable them entirely with the Pro-codes that come with the Re:Mind DLC. >>1138937 Every game in Kingdom Hearts has Redeemable qualities that give it a good reason to play it multiple times in my eyes. With the sole exception being Dream Drop Distance, because the Progression in that game is utter dog shit, where you need to pet your Nintendogs for 10 hours to get vital upgrades like Second Chance, Once More, and Leaf Bracer. I had to beat the final bosses without any of those, because I just wanted to finish the game, and those fights were entirely unbalanced without those abilities, and then after beating the game I actually grinded to get those abilities and that was the shittiest grind in the entire franchise. 358/3 is better than DDD for the simple fact you can entirely customize your loadout based on the mission you are undertaking. I went full on Magic build for most of the game, and there was very little grinding necessary. And even when I did grind to max level, it felt way less Tedious fighting Riku 100 times, then it did doing all the Nintendogs shit in DDD. I'd rather fight Mysterious figure as Tera multiple times then ever touch DDD again, dealing Mysterious figure is more reasonable to me then dealing with any of DDD's boring shit. When I first got DDD in 2012 I put it down and never tried playing it again for over a decade, I realize now I put it down in the first place, because it sucked, If it was actually good I would have keep playing it to the end. If someone doesn't like CoM or 358/2 then it's probably because they aren't putting enough creativity to making their build in combat actually fun.

>>1110454 KH2 is really tight gameplay-wise. As for the rest of the series it's one of those things where I think it jumped the shark ages ago but I've spent so much time with the franchise over the years I just wanna see it through to the end.
>>1139224 This is the most reasonable defense I have seen for days so far, but I did not enjoy the enemy design or the mission structure of the game especially bosses like ruler of the sky and the stealth mission respectively. Ruler of the skies is by far the worst mandatory boss fight in the series as far as I am concerned. I did also use magic when I replayed it after years, but it only made the game easier, but not enjoyable or engaging. I didn't rate Re:CoM high, but I did feel like there was potential in the gameplay and would play a sequel/stand alone series with the same battle system. which is I will relent on the gba version. However your post did make me consider to replay DDD and check how bad the nintendogs aspect is on a replay and reconsider it's rank, but days will never be above re:CoM or BBS especially not re:coded or any of the numbered titles.
>>1139884 I'll admit the story to Days carries it quite heavily, but I also find the game impressive that it took KH's gameplay and Faithfully put it on the DS, it just happens that Re:Coded took it a step further and did a better job in terms of gameplay complexity. I was also playing Days with Retro achievements, so I was more invested in the game then simply beating it, so I did plenty to add extra depth the game then is required to beat it.
>>1139962 I wasn't a fan of day's story at all so that didn't help me either.
