Slay the Princess: Pristine Cut Anonymous 04/16/2025 (Wed) 01:02:45 Id: 4b7b6e No. 1092649
Verdicts on the Slay the Princess now that it's gone through it's final updates? It's one of the most interesting VNs I've ever played and I find new things each run. Remember, this is a love story.
>>1092649 How can someone like such a repetitive visual novel?
>>1092649 So do all outcomes end badly?
>>1092749 It depends on choices if you end a route on a good or bad note
>>1092649 Hey its not friday!

>>1092649 >desperately trying to keep a stagnating, long dead memory of better times going I've become the Narrator. I'm sorry Corvidbro.
>>1092843 He comes to learn in a few routes that his plans aren't really going to help anyone.
>>1092649 I enjoyed it but I did all the love routes and I don't want to do the fighty killy routes now because I love her too much.

I got some of the endings in the original release but didn't finish it, still haven't gone back to Pristine Cut. Am I going to have to replay everything?

>>1095746 They added new routes but old routes also got expanded.
Nice to see Slay the princess content.
Which V-Tuber has the most entertaining and/or interesting playthrough of the game? I finished it on my own, so I'm interested in someone else's viewpoint while playing.
>>1100262 Obvious answer would be Nicole Goodnight if you want to see the princess herself play it.
>>1097813 I love Princess pubes so much it's unreal.
>>1103027 Wait what?
>>1104963 Nichole Goodnight is the VA for the Princess, specifically because the devs saw her stream Scarlet Hollow while voicing/reading the character lines. She's also a vtuber. It's neat watching her play through it.

>no loli princess I guess the witch is close enough
>>1095804 Reminder that all the iterations you encounter are one and the same person. If you get the "Leave Together" ending, she'll even recall what she did to you - or you to her - in her different versions.

>not a single crowbro made it here it's over.
>>1100262 I liked Pomu's
>>1128744 What I found interesting is how each voice is a manifestation of how the Princess views the bird in each route. I thought the two of you both perceiving each other in crazy ways was interesting.
any word on that ai weg guy?

I couldn’t take the indie-tier art quality. Also the premise is so autistic it sort of turned me off (“what if the narrator, like, agues with the player??”) It kind of sucks that art is so crucial even for low-tier Ren’Py indie slop. Like, no one would care about DDLC if it looked like StP. No AI can’t replace actual artists because each image is generated differently. So from that perspective this game has a done really well inspite of looking like ass.
>>1143708 >I couldn’t take the indie-tier art quality. Zoomer opinion. Slay the Princess looks fantastic. You are correct that the artwork of a visual novel ends up being a lot of the game, but where you are wrong is that StP has fantastic art as well as art direction. >Also the premise is so autistic it sort of turned me off I unironically don't think you understand this game. Like, genuinely.
>>1143708 IMO, the art is really good in a few places. It improves a lot after chapter 1.

wwwjam has stated he will be delaying this weeks bunny, plausibly due to either the 4chan shut down or real life I don't know if he knows about this place, but I don't think I'll interrupt his week off

A lot of style, but not much substance. The player is presented with a plethora of alternatives for dealing with a slew of bizarre horror situations, but the game is constructed such that your choices are largely insignificant in the long run. Even if you're interested in exploring all of the strange paths you can follow, the dialogue will say the same things over and over, making the game rather tedious. And it's not one of those games where you can progressively put together everything you've learnt along the way to achieve a satisfying conclusion to the plot. That would be great, but no.
>>1144683 I don't know what this is referencing, so I will assume it's completely sincere >your choices are largely insignificant in the long run In the end of the day, you were always going to leave with only memories, and the choice depth on a chapter to chapter basis is actually pretty deep, given that some part 3's are influenced by part 1 >A lot of style, but not much substance It's a visual novel at it's core, and that means that really it's just a book that you read weird. coming into it with the expectation of a more gamey system system was never going to work >Even if you're interested in exploring all of the strange paths you can follow, the dialogue will say the same things over and over You have an unlimited number of saves, and the format is one VN fans will be very used to. Most of the dialogue felt natural to read and come across in my playthrough, but I can understand how a new player would find it tedious >put together everything you've learnt along the way to achieve a satisfying conclusion to the plot I would agree that the main routes and the final battle are fundamentally different, but it certainly does build on itself In the routes you are trying to learn about, and act on, the princess, whether that means slaying or saving or whatever. Your main goals are to determine what the princess is and if it is correct to slay her. The finale is then the only natural conclusion to this, a segment where you basically learn what she is, but still need to determine the morality of slaying such a complex and all encompassing creature, while tangling with your own emotional attachments and grudges with the woman you've been romantically murdering for the last while It builds on the central thing you've been monitoring the whole game over, your relationship with the princess, both as a woman and as an abstraction Do you like VN's as a genre? Have any favourites?
>>1144683 >A lot of style, but not much substance. I think that if you've never been in a relationship that you might think this, but I assure you that it not the case. >but the game is constructed such that your choices are largely insignificant in the long run You are completely missing the point of the game.
>>1144491 Cold: "Do I have to keep answering?" Broken: "I'm going to stick around as long as you need me to."

>>1142447 Still working on it, haven't really made any progress since last week because I autistically decided to switch from pngs to ktx files to save on vram and memory and thought it would be easy and instead it's taken me like a week and still not working right. It doesn't apply gamma right so everything looks super dark and washed out. It's also causing fringing on transparent overlays which you can see if you look close. Is this the place for STP since 4chan is dead?
