Post miniatures that you have painted. Here are my plague boys and ultraboys.

>>1733 That looks very cool, anon. Were you going for an asphalt look? The white markings are very nice. I'm working on a mat of my own, but it's just going to be a 6' by 4' green flannel mat for WHFB. Nothing too fancy.
>>1722 Haha, yeah sometimes it gets me like that with certain birth years. I was born in 2000 but was in my University's Library the other day and heard someone saying they were born in 2006, which sounded insane until I realised that someone born in 2006 is now 19 years old. In my head I'm 19 and that person is a child.
>>1712 Might have to buy myself some they look so cool. But my plan after my Ork army is at 1000 points is to start on Death Guard or Eldar, too much to choose from! Also wish I had a friend that was as dedicated and into it as I am, we both got back into 40k again at the same time last year after both being into Warhammer seperately as kids. The difference is I've painted dozens and dozens of miniatures and he's done some detailing on 2 Chaos Space Marines from the Combat Patrol. He's a perfectionist and gets frustrated that he's not just good at painting straight away. Nightmare.Just want someone to play with! When my Ork army is done my plan is to let friends use it or my Templars to learn to play, my girlfriend said she'll play with me, but we'll see how well that goes, should be a laugh either way.

Has anyone here played this? I am currently trying to paint Ogres for my army. It has been really slow due. In the meantime I wanted to try Vanguard which seems like a pretty fun game. They recently came out with a refresh for the forces of the abyss. I think the new models look pretty good. I have to question why the big guy is resin though, Seems kinda strange.

>>1221 I haven't played it because my LGS is just Warhammer, buuuut. I think a lot of hate that Mantic gets is towards their models and not the game itself if that says anything.
>>1578 I don't think I have ever seen any hate toward mantic. I always figured it was because they are a bit more obscure and not constantly in the spotlight like GW is.
>>1221 I don't know anyone who plays Mantic's stuff. It's all Warhammer and Star Wars Legion at my LGS, although there's a growing Battletech community

Creating new OC for the board. Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 04:15:49 Id: ce7d79 No. 1353 [Reply]
I don't believe this place will get enough traffic to see any kind of /tg/ revival, but on the rare chance it does, I'd like to discuss how we can create new OC for the board. Game systems, settings, whatever. There are two main issues that plagued 4chan's /tg/. One was worldbuilding without any real order or goal to work towards. Second was faggots like Neckbeardia poaching content to resell or exploit. The first one has a clear, but not easy, solution. If you are serious about creating something, then the you should take a leadership position and decide which contributions from other posters to incorporate into it. If someone is just throwing out vague trivia like 'The elves in this setting eat gold and hate raspberries', then you should just ignore that poster as a noncontributor. The second problem admittedly is a much worse one and I'm not sure what to do about it. Neckbeardia was able to slightly rebrand Nightshift and got a Kickstarter for it to the tune of 25k British pounds. I've had two ideas in this regard: >1. Works are published with a Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license, thereby preventing fags from taking OC and reselling it >2. Establishing a brand or group on places like Drivethrurpg that exists to publish OC strictly under a free noncommerical license (call it AnonWorks or something like that) Then again, the second thing might not be an issue if content poachers never bother coming here. What do you all think?

>>1653 >What type of wizard? Off the top of my head, maybe one that specialises in enchantments? But if you want one of the other flavors of caster, maybe it's a warlock who's using emotions to try and help his master (whatever the flavor) work to some end, like to help them create an avatar to infest people's dreams. Or regardless of how he is flavored, maybe he's using it to try and mess with or destroy the dream realm itself. I like the idea that the mushrooms are the result of the anomalies, and could see that as being altered to match the wizard's flavor in turn.

Awful models Anonymous 02/25/2024 (Sun) 18:55:44 Id: 00cdce No. 1160 [Reply]
I hate this fucking model. The taurox is an awful model and I hate looking at it. It is even more infuriating because it can look good. The stupid segmented treads can just be replaced with wheels and it looks so much better. Even just replacing the front wheels and making it a half track makes it look good. Why did they make it like this?
1 post and 1 image omitted.
The treaded version looks like the offspring of a humvee and a tank
>>1160 Because wheels don’t fit the imperial 40k aesthetic. Atleast according to GW.
>>1160 i think it would work better if the tread assemblies themselves didn't look so bad and tacked-on, but yeah it's pretty lumsy as is >Why did they make it like this? i bet they thought it looked too 'normal' otherwise

I am looking to make a campaign set in a grounded JRPG kinda setting. Think Tactics Ogre, Unicorn Overlord, Suikoden, FFT, the first two TitS games.etc. I don't want mechanics for over the top teleport behind you powers, but still a bit fantastical. So no Exalted stuff. A decent character creator with customization. Tactical, but not super-tacital combat, so no theatre of mind. And not super crunchy I got plenty of world building tools, and the plan is to use them to slowly flesh out the world and villages and themes

>>1721 >The only real negative I can think of is the units being mostly generic. No factions means it can get a bit samey I think that provided list is there primarily just as a teaser to get you into game as quickly as possible. I am currently working on list for Combine vs. Resistance setup using Renegades as skeleton, since as far as I understood, the intention is for you to create your own lists and units and play with friends.
>>1725 I did not consider just making custom armies with the system but thinking a bit on it I do think it would be pretty simple. I didn't do it though, I just made lists. Resistance V combine would work fantastically for this system though. I can see it working out very well.

>>1556 >>1570 Honestly anything that is a good strategy. But I'd say anything that helps a "meta" fighter build, or just gives you innately strong options that will make you better off than if you just kept taking fighter levels. Like disciple of dispater seems to be pretty OP if it was allowed and you were willing to use a falchion.

>>1486 >>1492 nah, a larger creature has a mass in proportion to the cube of its size, and an impact surface in proportion to the square napkin calculation, based on a spherical giant, if he weights 4 ton and smashes on a 15' square, he takes more damage than a spherical ogre weighting 1 ton and smashing on a 10' square, because of the higher ratio of mass to surface on impact, at the same speed if falling from the same height it's physically logical that a larger creature takes more HP damage than a smaller creature, this even happens irl when small children have a chance to survive falls that would kill an adult >>1486 >TL;DR: A big and heavy enough creature would land in earth like we would water. if it's hard and dense enough to plunge through its an impact crater, maybe, but that means this beast is high enough level and has enough HPs to shrug falling from orbit, that's not the general case of the critters you encounter in D&D on a similar principle, in a homebrew system derived in small part from d&d I played decades ago, there were limits to the damage small pixies could recieve from trolls trying to play tree trunks baseball with them: it requires very little kinetic energy to accelerate a pixie to the speed of a tree trunk, because the momentum transfer is extremely small. This soaking effect disappears of course if the pixie can't be accelerated, because it got smashed gorily on a rock, for instance

Dual Lands Anonymous 04/19/2025 (Sat) 16:06:14 Id: 77c3ac No. 1687 [Reply]
I think I'm just going to start printing proxies of cards on the reserved list and handing them out willy nilly to local players so people will stop crybabying that it's "unfair" that somebody proxied a $800 land that's only $800 because of artificial scarcity, when they could just as easily have printed one for themself too for a couple of cents. Like FINE bitch, here I did it myself FOR you. Swap out a Woodland Stream and let's rumble. >hurr durr printing hurts the game, printing is illegal They're on the reserved list WotC literally cannot sell them any more, they're losing not only zero dollars but zero hypothetical future dollars. And they spelled out they were fine with proxying back in 2016, as long as it's not at official tournaments and you're not trying to sell them as real cards. Nobody is going to confuse a Taiga with a minecraft fox eating berries in the art as a real-ass card. Well, okay I suppose that is more plausible these days than it once was, but whatever I can replace the oval/acorn with a dickbutt or something too, it's not that hard to make it obviously a proxy to a potential buyer.
>>1687 A lot of stupid ranting and raving just to say "I want to start selling proxies"
>>1705 Not selling. Giving away. For free. To shut people up that complain about them being "unfair."

What systems are you using on your campaings? And how are they going so far?

>>1515 Nice! I was also playing with idea of introducing action points but ended up with fast action economy, where you basically started with 3 fast action and could convert 2 fast action to 1 slow action, or use fast action as reaction during enemy/ally turn. The whole idea was that you can have equipment/statuses, that add/remove fast action from your pool. >If I ever run another YZE gothic horror, I will probably use Stress Dice from the Alien or something like that. I found out that Resolve is good replacement for Sanity/Stress, at least my usage was: >Resolve is hard to recover >You bet Resolve points, when pushing rolls >Current Resolve value is used for resource rolls, when sanity is checked >Exhausting Resolve results in mental collapse, breaking the character
>>1529 Well, it seems we came to somewhat similar mechanics. Your Fast Actions sound like my Action Points, and your Resolve sounds like my Focus/Fatigue Points. It is indeed nice. I just like the idea that, for example, you can have from one to three Stress Dice, and when 1s are rolled, there are consequences regardless of whether the roll was pushed or not. I would home rule that, let's say, when all three 1s are rolled, the PC is doomed. He will die immediately or at the next suitable opportunity. It brings a kind of Hitchcockian tension. When the stakes are high and your stress reaches maximum, there is always a doom looming over you with every action, making you anxious, not just depleting a resource.
>>1540 >>1540 >I would home rule that, let's say, when all three 1s are rolled, the PC is doomed I would be cautions with this, since on one hand, it can help to build up tension, on other hand statistics are against you: >1 stress dice ~ 16% chance of doom >2 stress dice ~ 2% chance of doom >3 stress dice ~ >1% chance of doom >4 stress dice ~ >0.1% chance of doom >etc. So more dices you have, less chance of doom, but higher chance of panic, I would suggest to give doom points a read. Failed stress and Pushes would generate doom points, which slowly accumulate, but are never removed, unless cashed in, imagine it as mounting failure. You recovered your health, healed your injuries, stabilized your sanity, however, all the botches you made in last session are still there, ready to impact your future.

>>1577 Yeah, fortunately I'm blessed with having plenty of friends and potential players who don't have D&D brainrot and are happy to try out a large variety stuff. WoD isn't my usual cup of tea, because even though I really like the lore and system, I don't feel too confident running it compared to other conventions, but we're having fun so far. Though the players are a bit more murderhobo than I expected them to be, but that's a given I guess. I have to finally wrap the campaign up since we've been near the end for a long time, but scheduling has been more and more of a problem lately

Emotional Support Homunculus (or, the Life of Ergh) Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 20:51:23 Id: 3510ac No. 1407 [Reply]
I had posted a cringe first draft of this right before The Fall. Since then, it grew way bigger than I expected. Behold, a gothic rom-com monstergirl waifu. >TFW No Emotional Support Homunculus :'( We start with an incredibly lonely alchemist dabbling in homunculi, his motivations sadder than he’d like to admit. The principles have been well-trod; easy to grow, hard to sculpt, harder to keep alive. Those of a grim persuasion prefer undead minions, those of an ethical bent use golems and other constructs. Neither make for good company. Initial results...aren't great. A meat-puppet: Pluripotent cells grown over bone, tubing, and metal. Hairless and pale, all-black eyes, crouches like a spider, eats bugs, drools, blinks out of sequence. Also, it falls apart over the course of seven days and has to be rendered down and re-spawned (no kidneys/liver/glands). Not the "companion" he was aiming for, but it had the manner of a dog that speaks. “Like it here. Like you. Like being.” ___________ After a few more iterations, he's got something. Trying to give it some willowy grace, it comes out lanky but soft, soft enough it needs clothes to not distract him. To the degree that such things have gender, it's female. It stands up most of the time, though it's posture leaves something to be desired. It still drools and eats rats it catches in the dungeon (teeth are human, but the jaws open too far, purple tongue too long). A bit needy, as well. "We want to be good for master. Is Ergh good?” “Ergh” was a gurgle from it hawking up protoplasm, but the name stuck. It fetches, it carries, it asks questions and seems to understand the answers, the contours of its face are not-unpleasing. Also, it devours books, his modest library occupying it every moment it's not at his heels. Textbooks. Treatises. Travelogues. Trite bodice-rippers. He puts a second chair by the fire, the big, musty one that sat too long in the under-under-basement. It still degenerates over the course of a week; by day 6, unstable and delirious, day 7, it's leaking goo and in obvious discomfort. >“Everything blurry. You, face. Book, words. Us, inside.” He renders it down and doesn't spawn a fresh one for a while. But damn is it lonely in a dungeon lab beneath an abandoned manor in a haunted forest in a cursed kingdom. Reading of an evening becomes unbearable, as he looks to the chair by the fire where Ergh isn't. He comes up with a procedure that'll turn the one-week lifespan into maybe a month, extracting and filtering the humors, topping it up with fresh vitae-matter. Still has to get melted down and re-grown eventually, though. Some memories carry over between renderings, as he isolates brain fluid and uses it in the next iteration. ____________ It drools less, it's posture improves. One night, it finds a book of woodcuts, ladies posing in expensive dresses, faces lovingly detailed. Ergh looks from the pages to its reflection in a beaker. The alchemist watches.

I seem to have wound up in a fit of creative possession, possibly due to 4chan withdrawal. Attached in a PDF for easy reading, with thematically-appropriate images. I consider it an ode to Fragmentary Fiction, the lost /tg/ of old, and to the experience of having loved badly and only understood it years later. And to autistic women. This is the story finished for all intents and purposes. I could imagine removing or trimming down scenes, but not adding any more. Would love critique on what could do with cutting or what wound up redundant.

Are there any units for Keter Sanctuary or Royal Paladin that can attack in the back row without Gramgrace's effect? Since you can't really boost with Alfred the center back row would serve only for the purposes a necessary weight for Alfred's effect.

Would /tg/ like to help build and playtest an RPG? Anonymous 01/23/2023 (Mon) 05:39:29 Id: 9d9689 No. 576 [Reply]
I've been working on a proper tabletop RPG system on and off for the past three years or so. It has a name, a world, about a 70% complete engine, and a lot of story behind it. I've thought about bringing it to the boards (and even considered making a rules-lite version tailored for play by post on imageboards) several times but have not. If anons are interested, I'll start making regular posts in this thread, dropping excerpts from my design docs, and discussing the methods and philosophies for all the systems so anons can tear it a new asshole and maybe have a good time with it. The very general breakdown: >Single world, non-multiverse >D6 based >Skill based >Classes included but optional >Group initiative >Simultaneous turns >3-6 players >Customizable mecha subsystem It's named Aion, after the world of the setting.
