Miniature painting Anonymous 11/22/2022 (Tue) 00:33:35 Id: 0cbd14 No. 521
Post miniatures that you have painted. Here are my plague boys and ultraboys.
>>578 Plenty of Youtubers out there that can get your feet wet. I recommend Duncan Rhodes, Vince Venturella, Goobertown and Eons of Battle for "dumbasses guide to painting". Since you mentioned Reaper models (which you can just paint right away), avoid using spraycan primers. I don't know if it's universal but they have a line that does not play nice with spray primers. >>695 There's always affordable alternatives, just avoid GW. You might find something good on Etsy. >>705 My advice is buy what you actually need.
>>1404 why answer two years later?
>>1406 Better late than never. Besides who actually pays attention to post dates?
>>1406 Because I'm evidently blind.
>>1417 I'm still new to painting so this helps, thanks anon.

>>1446 I think the dead dog/cat looks too clean/flat/bright but the actual miniature, i.e. the armored guy, is painted very well. Good job, anon. Only thing I can recommend is shading the cat a bit, maybe using a spray to add some brown tufts here and there

Is this the /wip/fugee place?
>>1447 I assumed it was a lamb.

>>1446 Looks incredible, did you print it yourself or buy it online? >>1458 I guess so, I've spent all day trying to find /tg/ boards on weird different chans but they're all pretty dead, I just wish there was a place everyone could agree on to go. Just finished Grimaldus' retinue yesterday.
>>1458 Yeah sure why not? Nice dogs by the way.
>>1494 I love red plasma guns. They look so fucking cool.

current WIP All the Boyz. Almost done with the skins The Bosses, Doks and the Weirdboy come later
>>1550 How did you achieve that stone-esque texture?
>>1447 I'm going to increase the contrast on the lamb and clean up the blood a little, add some splatters elsewhere >>1494 Printed myself

(768.50 KB 3072x4080 anchorite 2.jpg)

>>1611 The contrast on the lamb just doesn't come through, but the blood splatter helps overall
>>1588 black primer and then wet drybrush what I mean by that is; I load the drybrush with paint then drag it across a texture plate to lose paint and then two dabs on a moist sponge
>>598 I don't have tremors but this video is helpful for keeping your hands steady: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=oqp76vAJu9g&t=0s
>>1617 looking good! i'm got some court of the seven headed serpent models waiting for me when i get home of overseas that i can't wait to paint
>>1617 Do you mind telling me your setup for printing/ how much it costs for all materials etc?

Started my first Ork army a few weeks ago having only painted Black Templars and Lotr miniatures. Love these little guys, especially these little grot lads.

>>1497 Me too anon, one of my favourite things about Templars.
>>1660 >that BT chad sticker Heh. I like the paintjobs, all very nice and neat. What I think could benefit your models most is being more thorough with your prep, there's a lot of mold lines and sprue tabs. Just small things that elevate the models that much more. If you're feeling extra adventurous you could try drilling the gun barrels. I think you're also really skimping out on the bases. Like the ghost of a basing paste touched your base and called it a day. Add tufts or skulls or whatever, have fun with it. Be more generous with your basing materials and don't slather it over the rim. Clean rims look so much nicer. If you're using GW paste try looking for larger pots like AK's or something.

Here's a most of my cultists. I'm expanding my army over the course of a crusade with my friend, we're up to 1600 pts now. It's been a few weeks since I last painted any new models, but I should get off my ass soon.
>>1666 Thanks. On the subject is mold lines and such I will endeavour to start but honestly I don't really see them I cant lie, like where are they in the picture? Bits of sprue I get and I try to cut them off with my clippers, but I guess I need some kind of file in order to be more effective. Bases wise yeah I would definitely like to add some stuff. Any reccomendations for where to buy skulls and grass and such? My templars have snow on top of the astrogranite, but I personally prefer the rims to have the astrogranite on them.
>>1668 These look really cool, really nice paint job. I've never really paid attention to genestealer cults as a faction or even looked at their minis online but they're sick looking, I love the dirtbikes, very madmaxian
>>1711 Thank you, I also love their industrial style, and they have quite a few models. They really lack in heavy vehicles though, but for that I'm working on a totally normal, although coincidentally completely bald guard regiment. We're not far enough in our crusade for the big reveal yet, so far it's Sisters of Battle against local cult activity, both lists pretty heavy on infantry. But it's fun writing the story together while the campaign unfolds.

My girlfriend's uncle heard I was into Warhammer and gave me this Return of the King starter box from 2003 (funnily enough the year my gf was born) which was completely untouched, he said it'd been sitting in the garage ever since he bought it. Been trying to paint them quite fast so I can play a game so managed to do this lot in a week, a few details need adding and some mistakes correcting but I'm pleased with them.
>>1708 >like where are they in the picture? They're mostly visible on the Mek(?) 5th from the left model, across both his claw and whatever other weapon he's got, and a bunch your guns/barrels. >but I guess I need some kind of file in order to be more effective My xacto blade does 90% of the heavy lifting for these purposes, and I like to finish off with some fine grit sandpaper when necessary. The back of your blade can slowly grind down all the excess plastic. >Any reccomendations for where to buy skulls and grass and such? Really just depends on where you live, plenty of hobby stores where you can buy resin skulls, tufts, paste and whatnot. Greenstuff World has a ton of cool shit if you don't mind international shipping or happen to live in Spain.

Here's a picture of my undivided chaos warriors. They've served me well in many battles.
>>1719 >old school hunched warriors. Pretty fucking cool anon. >>1713 >2003 (funnily enough the year my gf was born) I was suspicious of you anon for a moment. Then I remembered the year and now I just feel old. Nice minis though.
>>1656 I have an old Elegoo Saturn with standard grey resin from somewhere, and I print in my laundry room. I remove prints and wash them in isopropyl alcohol, then hot water to remove supports and a second wash in clean alcohol, then I throw it in a bucket covered in tin foil which has a solar powered turntable and a UV light from amazon.
I made a mat.
>>1733 That looks very cool, anon. Were you going for an asphalt look? The white markings are very nice. I'm working on a mat of my own, but it's just going to be a 6' by 4' green flannel mat for WHFB. Nothing too fancy.
>>1722 Haha, yeah sometimes it gets me like that with certain birth years. I was born in 2000 but was in my University's Library the other day and heard someone saying they were born in 2006, which sounded insane until I realised that someone born in 2006 is now 19 years old. In my head I'm 19 and that person is a child.
>>1712 Might have to buy myself some they look so cool. But my plan after my Ork army is at 1000 points is to start on Death Guard or Eldar, too much to choose from! Also wish I had a friend that was as dedicated and into it as I am, we both got back into 40k again at the same time last year after both being into Warhammer seperately as kids. The difference is I've painted dozens and dozens of miniatures and he's done some detailing on 2 Chaos Space Marines from the Combat Patrol. He's a perfectionist and gets frustrated that he's not just good at painting straight away. Nightmare.Just want someone to play with! When my Ork army is done my plan is to let friends use it or my Templars to learn to play, my girlfriend said she'll play with me, but we'll see how well that goes, should be a laugh either way.
