We might as well have this conversation now. I know most people feel that the term "retro" as it applies to games should be cut off after 5th gen. This is fair, since after that point games really did start to get smoothed down and corporatised. Not to mention 3d graphics got much better in the 6th gen. A lot of people with this mindset usually suggest a /v2k/ board. I have to say though, if you want to talk about dead boards, a board dedicated to only two console generations would definitely be one considering the traffic we get around here. On the other hand some people use a simple rule of if console is 20 years old then its retro. This makes things simple and let's face it, none of us are getting any younger. Even GCCX has accepted the PS2 and Gamecube as retro though they are played rarely on that show. I think the 20 year rule is good but the problem is you will inevitably face the issue where you end up talking about the 360/PS3 and at that point you're very clearly not in any sort of world where things feel retro. That gen had its own fads and expectations that are clearly different from the ones that game before it. So another option, and one I'm pulling a bit towards and I know some people won't like, is that "retro", at least as far as this board would be concerned, will include 6th gen + DS and PSP and that is the absolute cutoff. The 20 year people will have their stuff and it is nice to be able to talk about Sega's entire hardware lineup on one board. And there are definitely a good amount of ps2 games that still have a experimental retro feel to them. The DS and PSP besides the 20 year rule, their major benefit is that they received a decent amount of retro game remakes and it just makes it easier to talk about those games when no one has wonder if they're allowed to talk about them. HOWEVER, in the event that the board does actually get a lot of traffic or there's too much talk of Halo, then a /v2k/ split at that point would definitely be justified and enacted. But tell if you have an opinion different than what I laid out above.

I've been playing the english patch of Custom Robo and Donkey Kong 64 recently, been having fun with both of those games although I wish DK64 wasn't super autistic about collectables.

It's clear at this point as the years go by systems like the ps3, Xbox 360, and the Wii would be considered retro systems at this point but other disagree. What are your opinions on this because as unusual as it feels to some I feel that it's apt for the seventh console generation to be considered retro. Pic unrelated.

Do you guys like Medievil? I loved the first game as a kid but I could never beat it as a kid. I find it amusing that it got not one but TWO remakes across different generations. However no one ever seems to talk about MediEvil 2, was it that bad? How good is the PS4 remake?

Title says it all. I'm currently playing through The Great Battle II: Last Fighter Twin, my first impressions of the game aren't all that great. You play as SD versions of popular Japanese characters from different franchises in a crossover beat 'em up. Extremely lackluster so far, since all characters play the exact same.
