>Are you hyped about SGDQ 2025 (starts july 6th)?
Haven't really been interested in a GDQ since the one before 8chan got shut down. The fun was 95% in the shitposting. I don't know if I want to mark it in my calendar, but maybe.
It's hard to articulate how much I hate the soulless corpo trash these things have become. I remember the first couple years. Nitrodon getting pissy at the room while he was running Cave Story or something, because he felt like people weren't interested. And the fat dork who did FF4 at the end of one marathon, crying as he gave a closing speech because it meant a lot to him (as it probably did to a lot of these guys) to meet his internet friends face to face.
It was extremely cringe, yet better than what it became.
>Do you speedrun games?
Tetris Attack. I don't think I'm anywhere near the WR anymore; I just try to stay sharp because it's fun.

Very true. It's funny, though— of the handful of speedrunners I've ever watched, the unhappy ones have been failed normies who gravitate to speedrunning as a surrogate for their lack of success in other areas. I was friends with a guy on twitch back around 2012 who speedran Castlevania and such. Talented musician. Over time he increasingly got drunk on stream, raged on failed attempts, ranted about libertarianism and his shit job, then disappeared for awhile and came back wearing a dress. Disappeared permanently soon after.
Never send a normie to do a sperg's job, I guess.
