Castlevania Anonymous 04/18/2025 (Fri) 09:06:18 Id: de3d81 No. 1128694
A thread to discuss games in the Castlevania franchise. Who's your favourite Belmont? Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? What's your favourite game in the series? Do you think Konami will ever make a new game?

>>1128694 >Who's your favourite Belmont? I can't say that I have a favorite. Richter, I suppose. >Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? I tend to like "Metroid style" more but the linear games have their place. I don't think I've ever played a 3D Castlevania game so no comment. >What's your favourite game in the series? Symphony of the Night, with 3 as a close second. >Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? Yeah but I don't have faith in their ability to make anything worthwhile. It'll be riddled with new-school game design principles and ultimately made unpalatable as a result.
>>1128694 >favourite Belmont Julius/Leon >Style IGAvania >favourite game in the series SoTN >new gaem when? never
>>1128694 >Belmont Ralph >Style Linear, the Metroidvanias aren't bad but out of the 7 I'd say only SotN, HoD, and OoE are truly excellent. As for the 3D ones, I unironically really like C64/LoD, Lament is okay, and Curse is a dud. No experience with or interest in Lords of Shadow. >game Castlevania 3. JP is better than US but I'd rank both over everything else. >new game No idea. I'm honestly indifferent, I love the franchise as is.
>>1128694 >Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? With how out of touch they are, I'm certain if a new game got made, it'd be trying to capitalize on Netflixvania and completely forget what happened the LAST TIME they tried making a "western-facing" Castlevania (Lords of Shadow).
>>1128896 Maybe I'm being overly hopeful, but I don't think they'd base it off of Netflixvania or make another "western-facing" Castlevania. Dead Cells, SSBU, Grimoire of Souls and Vampire Survivors almost exclusively brought back characters from the classic & IGA games, plus Grimoire was intended to be part of the same continuity that Igarashi had established when he was overseeing the franchise. It seems to me like Konami would want to return Castlevania to the state it was in prior to LoS. Of course Konami are massive dicks so I could be wrong.

>>1128694 >Belmont Simon, fucker started it and hes dope in SCIV >style 3D metroid, more inclined towards Lament because Curse looks less polished in level design >favourite Tough choice between Super Castlevania IV, Aria of sorrow and Lament of innocence because they were my first into every single genre of Castlevania, but for nostalgia purpose I replayed IV more than the other 2 because of just how simple and easy to pick up it is. The others are long haul when Halloween comes around. >new game? Should they? They basically whored the franchise to anyone who can rip the sprites and call it a spiritual successor, personally I dont care but if they got their shit togheter and have a game finally about the war of 99 and its good that would make me cum.
>>1128694 >Who's your favourite Belmont? I really don't have a favorite, so I guess I'd go with Simon given SCIV was my first Castlevania and I have a soft spot for Simon's Quest https://youtu.be/2r4RrivK0OU >Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? Classicvania by far >What's your favourite game in the series? Order of Ecclesia, my beloved >Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? Never say never, surely they will. Do I think they should? Do I want them to? Hell no
just checking in to check my id
>>1128694 >Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? Linear for sure. Nice challenge + less grindy. I hate how easy the metroidvanias are. You just grind, become overleveled, and curb stomp all the bosses. The leveling system with exp point really fucks up the difficulty curve and takes the challenge out of the game. >3D games lol lmao
>>1128694 >Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? Haunted Castle Revisited exists so maybe. I just don't know if it'll be the game people want Konami to make.

>Who's your favourite Belmont? Richter. Looks handsome. At least as agile as other Belmonts. In probably the most famous Castlevania game, Symphony of the Night. >Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? Linear Metroid-style, but hoping for a Virtual Reality remake of Symphony of the Night. Three dimensional graphics, classic voice acting available, whip slashing action. >What's your favourite game in the series? Symphony of the Night, but only in, "Luck Mode". >Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? Hope so. I can hardly play flatscreen games anymore. Virtual Reality please!
>>1131268 >You just grind, become overleveled, and curb stomp all the bosses PoR and OoE hard modes are pretty difficult unless you autistically mega-grind.

Will it be good like Lecarde 2 or will it be shit like Wallachia/Lecarde 1 Also I'm not complaining at all because he's got a great voice but how does robert belgrade have the time to voice not-alucard in multiple not-castlevanias? Is he really passionate about the series to keep doing this?
For me, it's Albus Mode
>>1136231 Voice work is easy as fuck. Sit down, record the lines, send it in, cash the check.
Unironically. What are the chances of Konami having an actually new, literal and real Castlevania game lined up for to coincide with Switch2's launch window somehow? Also on a tangentially related note. Ritual of the Night 2 when??
>>1128694 >Who's your favourite Belmont? Julius. The guy can shake the entire castle while being old and amnesic. Imagine him in his prime. >Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? IGAvania. I love everything on the DS and even the PS2 games aren't bad at all. >What's your favourite game in the series? Pretty hard question to answer since I've played all games to hell and back, even classicvanias. So, My favorite Classicvania is definitively Rondo, favorite 3D game is Curse of Darkness, and favorite game in general is Aria of Sorrow. Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? No, and I don't think they need to. Even if they do, it will be an empty husk of a once-beloved franchise, like Metal Gear or Silent Hill. I have my bets on indies or even spiritual successors. Bloodstained is everything I wanted from a Castlevania and more. It has its flaws, but it is a pretty good game overall. In addition, I recently started messing with shaders, and man, the difference is day and night. Just the effects in Dracula's eyes is worth it. Duckstation has good shaders, but I downloaded my own to achieve this. Also, also, I'm going to share a simple extract and run version of Rondo that an anon actually shared with me here in 8chan years ago. Thanks, anon, I've had this shit in every iteration of my PC since: https://files.catbox.moe/o045so.7z
>>1128694 >Who's your favourite Belmont? Juste. He's so overpowered that his game is piss easy and he casually spends his time rearranging furniture. Also, he doesn't even fight Dracula
>>1134991 i think a new game is likely but it will be made for the anime crowd
>>1128694 Havent given a shit since the Netflix series dropped
>>1128694 >Which style of Castlevania is your favourite? Linear Metroid-style, or the 3D games? I generally prefer the design of the classics, but I find metroidvanias comforting and relaxing to play so I replay those more often. >What's your favourite game in the series? Rondo of Blood, followed by 3 and then OoE. >Do you think Konami will ever make a new game? There is a rumor floating around that they're making a new AAA Castlevania or something. But I don't really care after seeing how the remakes of SH2 and MGS3 look.
>>1128694 >Belmont Leon >Style Metriodvaina >Favorite game Aria of Sorrow >new game when? Never.
