Mario Kart Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 11:22:13 Id: c7dbc0 No. 1111585
Mario Kart World Direct in 100 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Cze7usEGCA Let's watch it together. Also what do you think of Mario Kart World so far? Or the Switch2? Or Mario Kart in general. Mario Kart thread
I’m really hoping for a diddy kong racing style adventure mode with the open world thing they had. You can race from track to track and explore the world it makes sense to add stuff in tbere and I hope we see it isn’t boring and empty
>>1111615 I'd be satisfied with just a Crash Team Racing tier world. >>1111585 >Also what do you think of [...] the Switch2? Take the already jewish Switch 1 (going from free online to paid is unforgivable) and go full kike and that's my impression so far.
>>1111615 >I’m really hoping for a diddy kong racing style adventure mode with the open world thing they had. This. Like I'm sure I'll fun with it regardless. But a strong and robust single-player mode like Diddy King Racing had would truly elevate it for me. Maybe even double my enjoyment of the game. It'd be a huge waste to have that big world and then not have that. I don't wish to get my hopes up. But with a whole dedicated direct, then surely they've got some big things to show us that aren't just new characters, costumes, items, and unseen courses? Right?
>>1111585 Oh yeah I forgot this was going on. Idk man the pricing stuff just deflated all my hype for anything Sw2 related >>1111615 There's no way free roam mode is literally just free roam in an empty world, surely there has to be something like this in the game.
>>1111585 Wonder how much freedom we'll get when it comes to riding on walls. Will it just be specific walls or will any walls be rideable?
>>1111585 >Also what do you think of Mario Kart World so far? I don't see the point in making it open world. People have been waiting for a proper new entry in the Mario Kart series for over 10 years; can't we just get a straightforward kart racer? I skimmed through some of the footage of Mario Kart World during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, and some of the selling points I remember was stuff like being able to take photos, going off-road, or racing in the open world while in between actual race events. But you can do all that stuff in old Need for Speed games or Forza Horizon. So I'm not really seeing the appeal. Surely there are better, cheaper open world racing games on Switch?
>>1112231 the wall on the final turn of sky high sundae is ridable, so it might be the latter
>>1112237 >the appeal anon it’s mario and that’s where everyone is going to be mario and the large player base is the appeal for the mario kart games. They released the exact same game on the switch from the wii u and people still bought it because it’s mario
(4.44 MB 1280x720 Daisy's Destruction.webm)

>>1112237 Likely because MK8 became impossible to follow up with the standard sequel formula of "Same but more", since it came to the switch with twice the normal amount of courses in a Mario Kart game and more with DLC support. A major upset was needed to set it apart and Nintendo chose the "open world" approach much like it did for Zelda when it came to leave behind it's aLttP template.
Mario Kart World is a "maybe", not something high in my priority list unlike some other Switch 2 titles and playing my Switch 1 games through BC. It essentially depends if I plan on getting just the Switch2 console or the bundle depending of the availability in my western european country around launch day.
>>1112237 I would hope for more rally-style events where you might have to pick an offroad kart to make it to the circuit on time, rather than beelining a highway with 3 turns. The price is also whatever, maybe they feel like people were paying the online subscription instead of buying the expansion last time, but I feel like they might not give it much live service content besides maybe 8 tracks in the first 4 years. >>1112259 To be fair nobody had a wii u while the switch lite is in every household with middle ageds I've been to (dozens).
>>1112340 I think the nintendo website lets you preorder it but I might be thinking of the gamecube controller. I heard you need a year of online and 50 hours on the switch though.
>>1111585 I wonder if the game will have a battle mode. I feel like it could be cool in this game.
I will buy it, but I'm looking forward to Sonic Crossworlds more. Those open world areas do not seem like a very good idea, and SASRT which Crossworlds seems to be borrowing from was better than any Mario Kart in my opinion. The MKW open world could be ok in practice, but in theory what I saw so far makes me sceptical.
>>1111585 Oh shit I forgot. Finally a thread where we'll actually discuss and not another general that just spams coom bait
>>1112259 >They released the exact same game on the switch from the wii u and people still bought it because it’s mario That's kind of the anon's point. They could have made world a straight kart racer and it would've sold. Though having said that, it is going to struggle with both being an expensive game and requiring a new and expensive console. Basically the real issue is what >>1112334 says. Nintendo need a way to make it feel like this isn't a downgrade in content because they was no way they were going to pull off having over 96 tracks like MK8D ended up with. The problem is, as >>1112237 says, if people ended up coming to conclusion that the open world stuff was just a gimmick and the tracks is what you're there for, you're once against faced with the fact there is less of them than in MK8D.
(110.56 KB 1920x1080 1744894299.jpg)

8 minutes to go
If it will have a DKR style campaign I'll buy 3 copies. https://youtu.be/qjSzq1fRwJk?si=IIrCpBi4KPCy4Wx0 What are the hopes for a dope boss banger music?
>>1112402 It’s not stickied and with less shitposting so less incentive for spam. This may be one of the best benefits of 8 Moe
>>1112349 I recall getting an invite, but retailers as well as supermarkets in my country have shown to lower the price of the system a little (430€ instead of 470€ for the base console) so I'm not in a hurry.
>>1112237 I hope it'll have the option to chose races from a menu still. The simplicity of just picking and playing is important to me. Having to drive to some point in the world to get to my race is just tedious. The only game I remember where I actually liked it was NfS Underground mostly because you could race others while on the way to your destination.
>>1111585 Last min predictions? Why do you guys think that its called WORLD?
I just want a fun battle mode
>>1112506 I was more talking about the state of the board in general but you're right. 4/v/ would have gone too fast and it's not fun. No different than the fucking youtube chat where no one's replying to each other.
>>1111585 >>1112237 >People have been waiting for a proper new entry in the Mario Kart series for over 10 years I got myself MK8 for the WiiU. But I never got MK8D for the Switch. Little did I know that'd mean just under a decade without a new Mario Kart. What with the Switch going strong for 8 years straight and the Switch never getting a non-MK8D Mario Kart. But being completely honest. I was never too impressed with MK8 and preferred other Mario Karts. Will I like World? I really can't know. But I think I appreciate it trying to be different. Then even in the worst case scenario, at least it'll have its own identity. I am assuming. Hopefully the open world will have something more to it than to just hunt for unlockable costumes though.
(92.61 KB 1024x1024 IMG_5032.jpeg)

Looks fun… but they are not doing a good job at selling the game
So mid-race costume changes are truly just for the cosmetics/unlocking? So if you're try-harding or trying to do good, there is no incentive whatsoever in trying to grab the mid-race costumes?
>>1112635 Completionists and autists will love it though
Okay, the wall riding is dope.
>>1112623 I guess. But it's a mario kart game where you drive to the courses. We knew that coming in. What would sell you better on it? I liked that hammer item. I'm good at aiming and it staying on the course for a second is good. Reminds me of shooting the banana forward where you know someone is going to drive.
>>1112635 You're visibly a bit harder after using the costume food, so I guess it's not that bad.
Nice so the costumes can be used whenever once you get them once
Are they really not fixing that character select screen, I don't want to scroll through 10 pages for a character.
>>1112664 I honestly prefer this over it all being cramped on one screen.
Have you fucking seen Wario's cake though? Like goddamn
see that mountain? you can drive there
>>1112664 Seems like it's a result of them adding so many characters plus having to give you a good look at the costumes you select.
(36.15 KB 736x736 tomomo.jpg)

this game feels like something that would've been good if it was released for the switch 1 then expanded upon with the switch 2
>>1111585 I'm not paying $500 + tip for it, but I'll watch it with you. If it's good maybe I'll get it someday. But not now.
>>1112655 I don't mind all the alt skins but they could have easily just placed them on a single character icon instead of having to scroll through several tabs
>>1112683 It isn't Nintendo without fucking up the most basic shit.
I can't believe mario kart has a photo mode and my favorite game doesn't
]>>1112516 I hope there's more than just balloon and coin battle...
Jesus fuck that framerate
I feel like an update / Deluxe version where you can create your own courses using the open world is the logical conclusion of the whole open world Mario Kart concept, it'll be disappointing if that doesn't happen at some point. It doesn't even need to be fancy: just let the player place down checkpoints and players will naturally drive the shortest distance between them.
(25.56 KB 192x171 1584061263405.jpg)

>still being proud of that screen sharing framerate Oh Nintendo...
>play mario kart >someone that passes me by flashes benis
What an exceptionally average Direct
(291.88 KB 300x380 Kong.png)

truly orwellian...
>>1112713 The low resolution Skype tier cameras take the cake holy shit what were they thinking
>mission mode is back and there's lots of them awesome
>>1112713 It amazes me that they spent so long focusing on it in the Switch 2 direct.
>>1111585 DROP THE PRICE NIGGA
looks ok. i'm not big into mario kart any more though.
>>1112650 I guess it was more they were talking about watch the direct and you’ll see why it’s worth $80. They didn’t show much then they could have just shown or told us before
(4.35 MB 2972x2414 MKDS_ROB_Artwork (1).png)

WHERE IS HE
The courses don't even look like Mario Kart courses. Due to the increased player count to 24, the courses are wider than goatse. Probably sucks for time trials now, too. And they kept the double item boxes. Gonna be a total clusterfuck to actually play online with all the added lag.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NB-PdZzeLU This video going over the new mechanics discovered and the new items seen, did a lot more to sell me on the game than the direct. The direct did showcase the items I guess, but otherwise it feels like the Direct just reiterated what was shown during the Switch2 Direct and what was shown in the Treehouse streams. But I guess Nintendo has never gone in detail to showcase how trick, boost, and drift mechanics work. So it's not like I expected them to go in-depth like that. Still sad that there was no huge single-player. Just secrets to hunt.
>>1112732 Sure but if the camera was higher quality you'd bitch about the price
(693.93 KB 3154x2486 1744311624803[1].jpg)

>>1112728 >Rogan Kong
>>1112734 The game is basically Burnout Paradise: Mario Kart edition. My expectations are low, but that concept has a lot of potential. I just want to know what the gameplay actually feels like with 24-player races, bigger courses, and the minor additions like grinding and wall-riding. There have been some shots in the trailers and Directs that make the game look fast and fluid, but other times it looks like you're just driving in a straight line with nothing going on.
Where are the dry bones skins
That was it? Looks great, but I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why it would be worth more than DK.
>>1112763 The on command jump mechanic seems like it could potentially lead to some neat shortcuts.
>>1112763 I was hoping the ice flower would freeze people in place instead of spin them because that's effectively what the fire flower already does
I feel the open world is under utilized. Seems just pointless driving.
>>1112713 Nintendo are so far behind the times in terms of infrastructure that to them this really is a massive accomplishment. I have to question why they haven't bothered to hire some more competent people to handle this side of things when they're easily the most desirable place to work for in the Japanese side of the industry and other Nip devs have better netcode.
there are a fuckton of remixes in this game, damn i wonder how big the full ost is?
>>1112783 What would you have added to the open world to make it better?
>>1112767 There are better quality streaming cameras for half the Nintendo tax
phew baby rosalina...
(57.74 KB 669x550 br .jpg)

>>1112772 >but other times it looks like you're just driving in a straight line with nothing going on. That's my biggest worry with the whole driving between tracks thing. From what I've seen it looks like the first two "laps" are part of that while you only get one true lap on the actual course.
>>1112804 They know.
>>1112793 A campaign like DKR had for the most part. Some sort of overarching story that connects it, even if it's just something flimsy like a global tournament. Even Mario Party has a story where Bowser is defeated in the end or some shit like that.
>>1112783 I wish they talked about the missions more rather than just talking about shit we already know about
>>1112795 >half Not that I've seen. Sucks but every company charges a "tax" when it's their logo on it.
>>1112793 Just drop the stupid open world gimmick and just have a diddy kong racing style hub world instead
>>1112812 Oh I like that. But it would have just been another bowser thing no? But that would have been better than no story I suppose. >>1112822 What is different about diddy kong racing in that regard? You drive to the stage and go in it. Are you referring to the requirements to enter a new stage? I'm sure people wouldn't want another sort of collect-a-thon
>>1112795 you can buy any usb-c webcam and have it work.Im using my old webcam for this.
I don't get one thing. Let's say you get a sombrero from eating a burrito or whatever, do you have to eat a burrito as every single member of the cast to unlock it for them, or will one burrito eaten as Bowser or Luigi suffice?
>>1112769 When you put them all together like that the new one really does look the best followed by the middle top one.
>>1112742 Buy the bundle and get it for $50
>>1111648 >I'd be satisfied with just a Crash Team Racing tier world. >>1112060 Come home, gamer
I can't believe that's actually it. I thought the game looked amazing but I expected way more stuff to be shown in this direct, like more characters (still missing a lot of returning characters), more in-depth stuff like a proper single player mode, more courses, etc. Considering they're charging +$20 compared to MK8D, I thought my expectations were fair. There's really no justifying this.
>>1112841 I'd wager it would be for just the character who ate it. I don't think every character will have a costume for every food. That being said, I want to see the Cow eat a burger
>>1112850 The bundle costs nearly 600 USD where I live and it will 100% go out of stock immediately. The Switch 2 is gonna be such a wet fart.
>>1112876 >like a proper single player mode They have one. What would make it more "proper"?
I gotta say I haven't been this unexcited for a nintendo game in a while. Something is really missing from the switch 2.
>>1112884 A campaign
>>1112888 You're growing up.
>>1112889 Do you mean a story of sorts like the other poster? Because it has a campaign like the others.
>>1112777 Everyone's just going to buy the bundled version which is effectively $50. I think Nintendo is being greedy, but I have to admit that they picked the perfect game to bundle. Everyone and their fucking dog plays Mario Kart. I think it's especially smart because - with the 24-player limit and online multiplayer - I think they're going to get a lot of people who want to play with streamers. The Battle Royale mode that was in this direct seems tailor-made for streamers. Sure, some kids and college students still play video games in-person, but the vast majority of people play online now, and the social dynamics of online multiplayer have completely changed. Think of MKW in the same way that you'd think of Tetris 99 or F-Zero 100. 24-player races are pretty huge from this perspective. >>1112807 The video posted above shows some new mechanics that haven't or hadn't been discussed in the Directs, one of which is a trick that can executed while driving straight for a mini-turbo or to bounce off of stuff. Nintendo is typically pretty awful at showing off these things, so we'll see.
(200.94 KB 480x480 Consider_the_Following.jpg)

Threadly reminder that naked jewtube links are gay and use invidious/yewtube/whatever youtube front end works to deny jewtubers clicks and avoid ads.
>>1112876 There marketing has been pretty shit lately.
>>1112888 It's missing the 'generational leap'. The Switch was such a drastic change from the Wii U that it basically revived Nintendo's brand image. This is basically Nintendo repeating all the mistakes the Wii U made plus 80 dollar games and the paid online still sucks.
>>1112900 What's the campaign, I didn't see it. >Like the others Mario karts never had big stories or stories at all. Nothing like for example, Mario tennis campaigns.
>>1112931 So you do mean a story. That's not the same as a campaign. Yeah I said before that'd be great. But the only mario tennis story I recall is the game boy color one. Maybe I'm not understanding you.
>>1112912 Their marketing has always been shit, except for Smash Bros. - which is probably the best-marketed video game IP of all time. Every other Nintendo-related Direct is just some corporate shill on a mixture of SSRIs and ecstasy talking over game footage and telling how much fun (You)'re going to have.
>>1112926 If it ain't broke, don't fix it charge more for it :^)
>>1112926 This is even worse than the Wii U since the gimmick for this console is a knock off discord integration
>>1112564 hnnnnggghhh
>>1112935 >But the only mario tennis story I recall is the game boy color one. Maybe I'm not understanding you I guess you never bought or saw Mario tennis aces.
(58.47 KB 211x190 NOOOOOO.png)

they done turned my boy into a bike ;_;
>>1112935 Campaign means storyline.
>>1112978 Now Rosalina can ride him.
>>1112984 giwtwm
>>1112984 It should've been me...
>>1112978 Damn. Kind of slick design-wise, but still sucks that they dropped him.
>>1112748 foreverially motorbikeized and loving it
>>1112635 Dont they act like mushrooms and give you a boost? You're going to want to pick them up for that at least They even showed Peach with 3 sushi, mimicking a 3 shroom item.
>>1111955 >Oh yeah I forgot this was going on. Idk man the pricing stuff just deflated all my hype for anything Sw2 related This. Game looks amazing, more racers will be a learning curve for competitive. Swicth 2 just doesn't look sustainable enough to buy yet
>>1112978 that'll be 80 dollars + nintendo online + tip :)
>>1113005 Yeah they act like mushrooms + unlock a costume/change you into a different costume if you're already wearing one.
>literally zero new information HAHAHAHAHAHA
>>1113065 Wait the boost jump was something we already knew?
>>1112979 >campaign means storyline Well, no. Plenty of gran turismo games have campaigns but that's not a story.
>>1113078 Yes, everything in the direct already leaked from people playing the demo.
>>1112958 You're right I didn't. Did camelot finally get off their asses and give us a new rpg like story?
(3.24 MB 343x498 cl1.gif)

>>1112984 h-hot
>>1113003 Rob could potentially still be playable because I just remembered they've shown dolphin riding a dolphin kart.
>>1113106 >leaked from people playing the demo Yeah but you know normalfags have no idea about that. They just watch the directs.
>>1113145 I wonder how the dolphin animations will look like since from the screenshots he just floats on the bike
(1.73 MB 1357x760 OXe0DVjfBP.png)

>>1112926 >This is basically Nintendo repeating all the mistakes the Wii U made You wish, all the 'controversies' on pre-launch Switch 2 are essentially the same of the Switch 1 before it released too. If there is one thing to learn, online voices literally do not have any influence on the real world. And I say this as someone who doesn't have any particular feelings for the new Mario Kart.
>>1113174 But even normalfags think that Direct was a nothingburger and didn't do enough/anything to justify the $80 price.
>>1112926 >It's missing the 'generational leap' In terms of what? Graphics? Because that's wrong. What you probably mean is a brand new type of console design. And if they had done that you'd be posting doom and gloom that they'd fail anyway. That's what happens every time. Them playing it safe is boring but I'm not going to just assume this will fail. We'll see.
>>1112907 or use ublock origin like a normal person invidious instances are laggy or don't even work most of the time
>>1113266 >But even normalfags think that Direct was a nothingburger Source? And no, terminally online twitter people are not normal. I've met plenty of switch buyers that use social media but would absolutely never discuss a video game console launch online.
>>1111585 Looks like a fun time but I can't imagine this sold anyone on the game that wasn't already sold on it, not much new was shown. Really hope the races are more lively when playing on 100+CC, the wide-ass tracks don't seem very exciting.
>>1113300 >Really hope the races are more lively when playing on 100+CC Well of course. That's usually how it goes. And it'll go up to 200 like usual.
>>1112804 I hate her. She doesn't make sense with what Mario Galaxy told of her past
>>1113321 >She doesn't make sense with what Mario Galaxy told of her past qrd?
>>1113336 It's been long enough that I don't remember the specifics but she hasn't always been Rosalina, she was just a regular kid up until she met a Luma and helped it out So baby Rosalina doesn't make sense because she wasn't the Luma space princess yet when she was a baby
So is there a point to the open world or is it just the survival marathon mode thing? And taking screenshots I guess if you don't identify with the gender you were assigned at birth
the missions and collectibles
>>1113441 There are several hundred P-switches and trials associated with them that provide rewards such as coins, carts, characters, and courses.
>>1113495 the only reward for the P-switches they mentioned in the direct was "to hone your driving skills" I doubt that you get anything out of them
>>1113441 The point of it is to pad the game out with a massive overworld to do fuck all in, aside from driving straight and doing tricks. This might be the most disappointing Mario Kart for me.
>>1113509 you get decals for your kart when you complete them
>>1113287 >costumes are treated like individual fucking character slots in the character select menu Among Nintendo's other recent issues, we REALLY need to start talking about how they can't into UI anymore. >>1113441 BotW's success mindbroke the fuck out of Nintendo. BotW was open world, therefore open world is what every game now needs.
>>1113521 source?
>>1113398 Fair enough but I give it a sort of pass because it's not some mainline mario game you know? Like the cow being allowed access to a kart at all. Or why they're racing against bowser and not locking him. Or why link was racing with them in the last game. Kind of super smash bros. rules.
(45.33 KB 316x313 1734001353448515.png)

Trash game played by people who don't like real racing games. They'd rather play the slot machine that is Mario Kart rather than something that requires skill to consistently win at. I hope that the people who buy this gets aids and dies
>>1113530 So the select screen by the end could easily have upwards of 200 slots. Imagine picking a character during online
There's a sort button
>>1113530 You must have quoted me by mistake. I wasn't talking anything about costumes.
>>1113495 >>1113521 Apparently, you have a little badge next to your icon in multiplayer, perhaps those are related to how many "missions" you've done
(1.77 MB 278x256 1727129080846331.gif)

>>1113548 Damn you sound like you need a hug
>>1113553 >Imagine picking a character during online FUUU lmao I need to see how that works out. I'm not buying at launch but that's a good ass point.

>>1113588 I'd rather play a modern call of duty game than deal with stupid games like this. It's not even a good arcade racer. A good example of an arcade racer would be Hydro Thunder. The fact that THIS is what people want is proof the video game industry has gone to almost irredeemable shit

>>1112775 Him eating a burrito or ice cream and turning into a sugar skull is too good of an opportunity to pass up. The Dry Bones track is Day of the Dead-themed too so it just makes sense.
>>1113643 Sure but the alternative is melee or brawl style zoom out character selects. And even if they zoomed out it'd be way less characters which people would bitch about. >WHY 80 DOLLARS IF IT HAS LIKE ONLY LIKE 25 CHARACTERS I'm not sure what you're suggestion is.
>>1113672 >The Dry Bones track is Day of the Dead-themed HNNNNNNNNNNNGH
>>1113638 Except it's very offensive. Rewarding players for playing worse is antithetical to playing a game. Take a dip off a high bridge gay retard. You don't like real racing games
>>1113649 Rewarding players for playing worse is as casual as you can get smooth brain
Did they even show any new costumes
>>1113695 >Rewarding players for playing worse is antithetical to playing a game. Only if you're a tryhard. Evening the playing field means more people can join in. You have a stick up your ass. You're like melee players who turn items off. If the items are random I could even beat ken. It's a party game. I'm sure you have another anime girl reaction image though so carry on.
>>1113666 Except I in fact did discuss gameplay.
>>1113695 >never played a party game you sounds boring
>>1113726 >I'd rather play a modern call of duty game than deal with stupid games like this. It's not even a good arcade racer. A good example of an arcade racer would be Hydro Thunder. The fact that THIS is what people want is proof the video game industry has gone to almost irredeemable shit Nothing about gameplay here. This is what you said.
>>1113666 The gaming industry has declined considerably from its peak output in the 2000s and early 2010s. The decline was noticeable by 2014 and it's even more noticeable now. Studios are shutting down left and right and big IPs just suck nowadays. What's changed from then 'til today is that games are now very reliant on community projects and user generated content to stay alive. But that doesn't mean the industry is in a good place at all.
>>1113745 >The decline was noticeable by 2014 And yet people older than you said the decline was 2006. And people younger than you will say the decline was ACTUALLY 2020. They'll have a field day with that one blaming covid so they'll sound right to everyone around them.
>>1113679 People didn't complain about Mario Kart 8/DX's character select screen or its nested costume selection. Stop making excuses for Nintendo's regressive UI design. The only reason people might complain if it was applied to MKW is due to its pricetag, but then it's almost like Mario Kart shouldn't ever cost the better part of 100 fucking USD.

>>1113240 I agree with this. Reminder that the launch titles for the original Switch were: >Breath of the Wild, which was also on Wii U >1-2 Switch >Snipperclips And fucking, I don't know, Shovel Knight, if we're being generous. The third-party launch titles were fucking dismal (so bad that they aren't even worth listing) and It took months for major games to release: while MK8D released in late April, Splatoon 2 didn't release until late July, and Super Mario Odyssey until late October. MKW is obviously intended to be the Switch 2's "big" launch title like BotW was for the Switch, and it honestly might be a better launch title from a long-term, value-centric perspective. But then there's the Switch 2's third-party launch titles: >Deltarune Ch. 1-4 >Cyberpunk 2077 >Street Fighter 6 >Civilization VII >Hogwarts Legacy >Bravely Default HD >Yakuza 0 >Fortnite lol >Hitman Look at this shit. These are REAL third-party games that people actually want to play, not basic indie games like World of Goo and Shovel Knight or fucking garbage like... "Human Resource Machine", whatever that was. People will bitch and moan and spam every Direct with "LOWER THE PRICE", but at the end of the day the Switch 2 is already a better-supported, more promising console than the Switch was on release. And, as an added bonus, it's even has better relative graphical fidelity because of diminishing returns in graphics rendering. The Switch 2 is basically a Nintendo-branded, competitively priced Steam Deck (remember, the OLED Steam Deck is $549), which will have Nintendo's patented first-party killer apps. The Switch already has a massive install base, and even though people are going to hate swallowing the big, $449 pill, this is a brain-dead safe bet for Nintendo. Watching /v/irgins predict its "inevitable flop" is fucking laughable. I'm not a shill. I don't like that Nintendo is trying to pull the same anti-consumer bullshit that Microsoft and Sony tried to pull when they though they were in a dominant position. Nintendo has always been anti-consumer. I hate everything about them except the games. I'm just a realist.
>>1113724 >Only if you're a tryhard. Evening the playing field means more people can join in. It's not evening the playing field, it's allowing a bunch of toddlers to be competitive in a game they shouldn't be competitive in. Fucking kek you people are patheticc >>1113732 What did I mean by this? >They'd rather play the slot machine that is Mario Kart rather than something that requires skill >>1113730 I in fact have. 100% Orange Juice is everything Mario Party wishes it could be. Not only do you have rng but you also have strategy in the game too
>>1113805 >it's allowing a bunch of toddlers to be competitive in a game Yes. Because it's a game. It's not some serious competition. These are video games. Did you forget that? If you want to play super competitive games why the fuck did you come to mario kart for that? It's never been that. And believe me if a toddler plays they could get the best items in the fucking game but if I know the track they aren't winning 99% of the time.
I can't believe these "Mario Kart isn't hardcore enough" posts. What are you even doing in a MK thread then?
Feels like it's missing the point of Mario kart being short and sweet with having people drive to the new locations. With Multiplayer in past games, you were able to vote on what tracks to do next, or what circuits to do afterwards. The increased player count is good, but elimination style isn't for party goers, as eliminating players is one of the biggest nonos for gatherings.
>>1113907 I'm also not sold at having to drive to a track after completing the first one. Wouldn't it make more sense that once you enter mushroom cup it'd just send you through to all four in succession? But I'd need to see a run through after it comes out to confirm anything.
>>1113847 The over casualization of gaming is a large reason why gaming is fucking dead. Enjoy your skyrim, mario kart, and REPO games though lol. I bet the new Mario Kart will have gacha too just like Mario Kart Tour did
I feel like Knockout Tour will be the best mode to play the game on, grand prix feels like a concession due to it being a tradition while knockout feels like the game world was designed for it.
>>1113924 >I bet the new Mario Kart will have gacha too just like Mario Kart Tour did ok now you're just coping
>>1113924 Nigger Mario kart was always a casual game, it's not being casualised. It's a party game for kids, that's the only reason you even care about it, because you played it as a kid. This shit isn't for you.
>>1113854 It's not about it being hardcore, it's about it being even more casual of an experience than Skyrim whichi is frankly pathetic. Having the ai do all the steering for you is pathetic
>>1113921 It's a little awkward, and I'm not sure how much driving there is for each cup, or how big the open world actually is. It's something you have to see for yourself how long it is before giving any real judgement, but on paper it seems slow.
>>1113924 >The over casualization of gaming It's mario kart. The lightning bolt and blue shell have been there for decades. It's a party game. This is your last (you) from me. >>1113951 Seriously. But it's difficult. If it's a quick 10 second drive it'll feel like "well why didn't you just skip me to it". And if it's a minute long it might feel like "well yeah why the fuck didn't you just skip me to it". Have to see it being played in full.
>>1113924 >over-casualization of gaming It's fucking Mario Kart, you mongoloid. It's less competitive than the literal party game that is modern Smash Bros.

Now I'm curious how will they do dlc here. If skins are free, it appears the character roster is going to be everyone including literal who minor characters, and still they have some old maps my guess is they are going to eventually expand the map?
>>1114015 It will be at least 30 extra shekels for shit you've already seen before
>>1114015 They'll probably do DLC for non-mario characters
>>1114015 There have been rumors that what we see could be just one "continent". That'd actually be pretty fun. More tracks. But also new terrain to free roam in.
>>1113548 Funnily enough claiming that Mario Kart is all luck is the biggest sign that you lack skill yourself. Good players know how to win fairly consistently. >>1113695 You're missing the real purpose of giving better items to players further back. It ensures players are neck in neck more often in the race instead of everyone ending up far apart which makes things more fun and less predictable. Most importantly to reduces the wait time at the end of the race since the time between the guy in first and the guy in last is never too long.
>>1113805 >Mario Kart even has a drivers assist where it does all the driving FOR YOU And makes you drive slower/worse as a result, which you'd know if you actually played the games.
>>1114034 >Good players know how to win fairly consistently. This. In mario kart I don't really even have to use the trick where you stay in 2nd place until the end. If you're very consistent in your drifting and shortcuts you'll win. >>1114037 Yeah that driver assist looked like it'd mess me up. Not that I'd use it anyway.
>>1114029 >>1114031 Guarantee they do a Zelda DLC with a Hyrule open world. Wonder if they'd be able to edit the BotW map to be kart-accessible and shoehorn in racetracks. At the very least, there will be a Hyrule even if just a minified theme park version
>>1114015 I feel like we’ve probably seen every character on the roster already.
>>1114064 >>1114029 >>1114015 You're saying that Mario Kart World will get an expansion that turns it go from Mario Kart World to Mario Kart Worlds?
>>1114015 >free DLC people having this much faith for free DLC in an ecosystem where Nintendo's putting out $10 framerate/resolution unlock patches is fucking astounding
>>1113240 I'm inclined to agree. People gave Nintendo shit for making their online paid after it was free for years. They got away with it. They give Nintendo shit when they added the Switch online expansion pack. They got away with it. They gave The Pokemon Company shit when they significantly cut the Dex starting in Gen 8. They still got away with it. I'm expecting similar for the Switch 2. And when you factor in inflation, the price jump is only around $50 from the original Switch's launch price. Still not great, but it kinda makes sense given the technical upgrades of the new console >>1114034 >You're missing the real purpose of giving better items to players further back. It ensures players are neck in neck more often in the race instead of everyone ending up far apart which makes things more fun and less predictable. Most importantly to reduces the wait time at the end of the race since the time between the guy in first and the guy in last is never too long. The problem is, this also opens the door to people deliberately sucking early in a race so they can hoard good items to bullshit their way to the finish. Cheese Land and Dry Dry Desert were notorious for doing this. I could absolutely see the Rewind feature being utilized to do this if they aren't on the ball with track design. At least Knockout mode will discourage that sort of behavior.

Will there be an option to chain every single stage on the entire world together for one gigantic marathon race? I'd love that. Even if it'd take forever to play.
>>1114505 Only if they allow something like custom routes/grand prix. Would be a neat update but they haven't announced any such feature yet.

>>1115881 >Variety is the spice of life after all. I hope Nintendo did something about the characters when variety is concerned. I don't know why, I thought there's characters with the exact same stats as he has, but that was the case and made me stop playing.
>>1116089 I hope they improve the online matchmaking in general. Low points put you in slow 50/100cc rooms but getting too high put you in 200cc clusterfuck rooms full of nothing but people playing the exact same meta builds.

>>1116143 Was never a fan of rooms sometimes being mirror mode tbh glad they reduced it. Have we even seen mirror mode for mkw yet? 200cc is a bit of a mess sometimes too, if we had that at 24 players it might be too much

>>1117665 It’s been so long I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure I didn’t bother with a Switch till at least 2019 and even then didn’t really start playing it till coof fucked everything up since I didn’t care about anything that was out at the time.
What tracks are all you anons most excited for? DK Spaceport looks the most interesting out of all the new ones and as for retros it’ll be nice to play Toads Factory again after so long.
>>1116313 >I should be able to be whoever I want in whatever game I want, regardless of franchise, because... reasons!
>>1112926 >This is basically Nintendo repeating all the mistakes the Wii U That's not even remotely close to being true. If anything, the Switch 2 is the anti-Wii U from a design perspective. The Wii U was fundamentally a bad product that nobody wanted. Nintendo released an outdated console aimed at a casual crowd that had moved on to smartphones while paying lip service to the core market, which didn't fall for it. There was no consideration for how the main gimmick was distracting and uncomfortable for extended periods of time and didn't really improve 99% of games. The ad campaign was embarrassingly bad and sold the system as a toy for toddlers, ignoring that the core audience for console was primarily made up of teens and people in their early 20s. That's not even mentioning the initial confusion over the reveal and name. In comparison, the Switch 2 plays it safe. It's literally just a better Switch, with the same kind of advertisement campaign, which is what most people were asking for. The only point of contention is Nintendo getting greedy with prices, and there's definitely some room to correct course in that regard.
>>1118012 I guarantee that there is someone out there who, without any irony, has tried to say that "Wii and WiiU" is the same situation as "Switch and Switch 2".
>>1118012 >there's definitely some room to correct course in that regard. That would require them to lose money and they will not do that. The fact that the US still does not have a pricetag is very concerning. I think a lot of people are underestimating how bad and how quick things can go downhill if Nintendo's makes some more bad moves. I was looking for a reason with the Mario Kart World direct for Nintendo to justify why it costs the way it does and they didn't do that in my opinion so I don't know if I will even pick up the console on release.
>>1117874 dandelion depths and acorn heights look pretty neat as for retros, i'm super excited to try out airship fortress, mostly for that sweet, sweet remix sky high sundae also looks like it has some fun tech now
I think Nintendo forgot their main buyers are children and families. what parents are going to fork up 500$ for Mario kart in this economy?
>>1114333 I loved kartrider drift, but the netcode was done really horribly in that game. Maybe I wasn't good enough to notice it in the preseason period, but once season 1 started the issue where other racers could randomly rollback into your kart and stop you in your tracks sucked almost all the fun out of the game.
>>1118301 The same parents that are allowing their kids to play the likes of Brawlstars and other gachas where the kid will inevitably at some point whine until the parents relents and buys some brawlstar currency, whatever it is called? Yes, they will buy them. Also 30=+ year olds are a significant part of Switch base from what I saw, and that base is the same people who are paying 2000$ for a graphic card, only to pay that again once Nvidia makes another one in 3 years. Some people are also just better off.
>>1118181 Airship Fortress is another top tier choice for the game. Was sad it didn’t make it into 8DX so it could get an orchestra theme but I guess everything worked out in the end. Also the name ‘Acorn Heights’ almost immediately made me think of NSMBU.
>>1118301 Another problem is that the MKW bundle is a limited time deal. Scalpers are going to absolutely rape it when it opens up in America (they already did for regions where preorders went live), negating the savings proposition of that bundle. I think Nintendo will pat themselves on the back over initial hardware sales but, similar to PS5, will see a shocking falloff in software sales rates thanks to rampant scalping.
>>1118407 I don't understand what they're thinking with the MKW bundle. There's no way they won't release the exact same bundle for Black Friday/the holidays. Maybe not this year, but next year for sure.
>>1118465 >I don't understand what they're thinking with the MKW bundle. It's symbiotic - the $80 pricetag for the game alone is meant to incentivize buying the bundle. Because they saw 21 million people bend over and gladly bite the pillow for a dry $70 BotW asset flip, just two years ago.
>>1118519 Reminds me of how the Switch 2 upgrade packs for BotW and TotK are $20 each but they come for "free" with the NSO + Expansion Pass Subscription.
Looks fantastic so far. I'll play it when the price drops into something affordable. I've played every MK game (except the VR one) and this legit looks like the best MK game yet.
>>1118141 >That would require them to lose money and they will not do that. Nintendo is a corporation, they're going to do whatever is required to survive. Their first priority is gauging how much of the outrage is real and the actual impact on sales. If the situation is really fucking bad they will drop the prices, just like they did for the 3DS. The Switch 2 price in Japan is proof enough of that. >The fact that the US still does not have a pricetag is very concerning. On that specific matter they're not the one to blame. How is anyone supposed to price something with how much Trump flip-flops around tariffs? It's only a matter of time until the rest of the industry has to deal with the same issue.
>>1119105 >it's only a matter of time I believe the PS5's price already increased
Looks fun enough but I'm still unsure about track quality. I really hope playing online semi-competitively stays fun, I just don't care about the seamless gimmick for races.
>>1119227 Not in the US though, which is funny because it's the one market where there's an actual issue to address. You can tell Sony is just nickel-and-diming people because they think they can get away with it.
>4 player mode >30 fps cap uh...
>>1119473 Is that real? Are you talking about the local splitscren? Docked or undocked?
>>1118407 >I think Nintendo will pat themselves on the back over initial hardware sales but, similar to PS5, will see a shocking falloff in software sales rates thanks to rampant scalping. Nintendo pretty much made sure the foreigners wouldn't bother to import the Switch2 in Japan, with the currently weak yen, since the official SKU found at retailers over there is locked to Japanese language only (and can only connect to a Japanese Eshop account too).
>>1119518 yes, local splitscreen, minute 13:18 https://www.youtube.com/live/mq4uCJDwO9U?si=zhl0ZX7ks7RqSqQk&t=798 it's like mario kart 8 on wii u and deluxe, so those 30 fps will be in dock and handheld
>>1114015 >>1114029 >>1114083 here's the catch, that $50 price pf mario kart world with the bundle is not just to sell you the more expensive price with the console or a cheap game, it's to cover the future extra character and dlcs, where easily the total cost will be $80 or $90
>>1119582 Where does it say that it's locked at 30fps?
even before the US and China got petty with outTariffing each other, wasn't Japan the #1 country that got hit hardest with Trump's tariffs? the Switch 2 was doomed from the start
>>1119854 Switch 2 is manufactured mostly in China and a smaller portion in Vietnam. The Vietnam made Switch 2s aren't enough to meet US demand though.
>>1117955 >I should be able to be whoever I want in whatever game I want, regardless of franchise, because Because I like the character more than what the Mario IP offers and will enjoy getting to play what I want to play as. Mario is one of the least lore critical IPs out there. Even the very concept of Mario Kart plays fast and loose with Mario's lore and a massive part of the charm of Kart games is how unserious they are. There really is no reason not to allow something simply for the fun of it, especially when it's something cartooney enough to fit in the setting.
>>1117228 >>1117665 Mina the Hollower being a launch title would unironically make me super excited. Sadly that game appears to be missing in action. Hopefully it'll resurface soon™ but I'm guessing it'll be missing the launch.
>>1119854 Nope, hilariously enough it was Lesotho at 50%, because they weren't reciprocal tariffs at all and instead were calculated based on trade deficits. The Japanese tariff was at 24%, but the Switch is made in Vietnam, which got hit with a 46% tariff.
You WILL buy the 90 buck game
>it took both of my favorite Mario Kart characters 10 fucking years after Mario Kart 8 came out to come back in the Booster Pack >they both immediately get fucking cut with the next game where they just add a bunch of random fucking bullshit Petey/Funkybros how are we coping? I'm really interested in the game even though it's probably a downgrade for many people from 8 deluxe, I don't enjoy the kart customization in that or the gravity stuff and I'm retarded and used to play kirby air ride making up names and stories for locations in city trial
>>1113798 hell you carry over nearly everything from the switch
>>1113805 As a compfag, you're literally worrying over basically nothing Retarded timmy that has to use drive assist will NOT be able to do any shortcuts because he will be prevented from going off-course for example and I can assure you that he will also NOT care about the fastest kart/bike. It's very simple, if you don't wanna find any of the sweaty tryhards, just don't tryhard yourself so your ranking doesn't go high enough to put you with the sweaty players.
>>1111585 I hate Mario kart, but even I would enjoy this. Seems really fun

Hopefully the rule customization is more comprehensive than it's been in the past. I just want to turn off the fucking lightning bolts. And maybe blue shells. Everything else is fine, I just don't want to see any more goddamn lightning.
Not beating the linear path allegations with those charge jumps
>>1124582 If it makes you feel better, the lightning bolt got nerfed into the ground in World. Not only does lightning not effect anyone behind the user, but it also doesn't effect those inside a tunnel/extended covering. The shrink also doesn't last very long anymore, to compensate the shock brings you to a near dead stop, but you recover far quicker. I think it's a fair change considering how utterly busted shocks were in 8DX pre-BCP wave 3.
>>1125713 In general, I still want more options, but you're right, that doesn't sound bad. But yeah, that was always my least favorite thing about MK8. At least once per race (usually twice), everyone would just have to come to a stop, lose all their items, and crawl around for a few seconds. God help you if you had to go off a ramp. I never did come back for the expansion pass content though, so I don't know what changes they made.
Does anyone find the Peach redesign weird? Like, her body has the same proportions she had in Super Mario Wonder.
>>1125951 That's just what the nuMario art style is like supposed to be like, more cartoony and expressive Everyone is styled like that now
sucks cant do local 8 player with just two Switch 2s with 4 on each Switch hoping get Splatoon racers back ect..
its just not doing it for me a new MK would have been a console seller for me but I feel like I can wait now
>>1127189 Waiting is wise. Besides, $80 will only get you the base game. Who knows how much they'll charge for DLC on top of that.
So the traditional biker costumes will be unlockable costumes, I'm glad they're still in.

New news, Nintendo maintains the US pricing for the Switch and Switch 2 MK bundle
(87.88 KB 867x1029 Go0dxblWMAAK-77[1])

>>1131335 Final US prices. Dunno if any peripherals got bumped up, I wasn't paying attention to their prices.
>>1131371 OOF. My wallet hurts!
>>1131371 Honestly? Could have ended up a lot worse, but those prices are still fucked. Also lol at those doomers on halfchan predicting a 1000USD price last week.
>>1131435 Honestly I was already sold on it since I know the MKW bundle would be the only way to get MKW at a non absurd price. If I can't get that bundle though, I'll probably wait for another bundle, maybe one that comes with a special edition Switch 2 like the Splatoon 3 bundle.
>>1131371 Apparently, the accessories did get a price increase. Bumped up by $5.
Is the MKW bundle a digital copy of World? Or physical copy?
>>1131664 A digital one
>>1131664 Digital.
>>1131664 it's physical in some regions, but most are digital
>>1125850 They nerfed lightning in Wave 3 of the BCP by making it so that gliders are no longer retracted when struck by lightning. You'll still get shrunk, but you won't lose your existing momentum and fall to the ground like you did before. I think they did this because of all of the cannon gliders found in the BCP.
>>1131664 Most regions are digital, but some with poor internet infrastructure have physical instead.
>>1131371 Accessories all got bumped by 5 bucks it seems. Interestingly, they're trying really hard to keep US customers at the same price. Poor Europeans are ending up subsidizing US prices lol
I rather own a physical copy, honestly. the Switch 2's 256 GB don't feel like much space when games like TotK are like 16 GB
>>1111585 SHOW US RAINBOW ROAD
might be a bit autistic but they’ve done so much new stuff with how they organized the kinds of tracks to go into each cup and I dkn’t like it bowser’s castle isn’t a special cup course anymore flower cup and star cup don’t have exclusively new tracks
>>1133091 European prices are higher because taxes in the EU are much higher than in the US, it has nothing to do with one market subsidizing the other, that's reserved for Japan alone.
How active do you think MK8DX's online will remain after MKWorld's release?
>>1133759 Probably a decent bit thanks to backwards compatibility and with at least half the initial sales of the Switch 2 being scalpers.
>>1133759 Pretty active, even the original MK8 was still fairly active before Nintendo shit it down a few years ago, and it was on a relatively dead platform.
>>1133726 They must plan on taking a hit then, unless good news is coming for the tariffs. Which is very rare for Nintendo.
>>1133622 i think it's better to keep some courses totally unknown, especially when there's footage of a full lap of nearly every course in the game except for i think cheep cheep falls
So is item bagging still a thing? It killed my interest in MK8DX long before the big DLC
>>1134028 IIRC there was a patch that ruined that strategy. Can't remember how it fixed it.
>>1134028 comeback items like lightning and bullet bills have been nerfed quite heavily so bagging may be less effective or harder to pull off
>>1113287 The ones terminally online are the ones that will gobble it up.
are the koopalings gone for good or are they DLC? Ludwig was my main.
>>1134879 I'm fairly sure they are in? Didn't we see Wendy and Bowser Jr?
>>1134028 In MK8DX? Not anymore, it hasn't been a thing in a while. I was playing a long session yesterday and saw a few retards STILL trying to sandbag in 2014 + 11 without success lol, never saw them at the front of the race. >>1134201 It fixed the issue by impeding sandbaggers from cycling through items the way they need. If it detects that you've been going at too low of a speed when hitting an item box or have been getting items in a row from the same item box it's gonna give you shit items. You now get banana peels and green shells in 12th if you're intending to sandbag. It doesn't seem to be worth doing it anymore, atp it's best to just play the game normally. I haven't really seen much bullshit ever since, I'd say they did a good job.
>Nerfed bagging >Indirectly nerfs comebacks In stuff like knockout tour I dunno how you're meant to take down the person in first? As more people get eliminated there's less chances of lightning/blue shells etc.
>>1135805 Ummm by playing better than him? What the fuck kind of question is that
>>1135805 Stars and Mega Mashrooms seem to be still pretty GOATed when combined with shocks, yeah they don't slow down racers as much long term, but in the moment everyone is still grinds to a screeching halt enough for those who dodged it to get some places. >>1135467 I'm pretty sure sandbagging is still possible in modern MK8DX meta, it's just much harder than it was before. World however, yeah bagging is dead.
>>1135874 Yeah I mean of course, you can still do it but it really is harder to pull off now. I do think the number of baggers you find on every new lobby reduced significantly.
>>1135866 Better how? It's a straight fucking road. Once routes are figured out there's hardly a chance you fuck up while ahead. Anyone competent isn't going to crash into an npc car, they can securely frontrun without issue
>>1136855 Oh and charged jumps look to be the easiest mech for skill expression, compare to wheelies and snaking. Unless something like snaking returns I don't see anyway who you can mechanically overtake someone on a straight without items
What's the best way to secure a bundle when preorders open? After 11 years I wanna move on to World asap...
>>1134028 What was that again?
>>1138123 That's the fun part, you don't. You refresh until preorder is live, then try to check out at the same time as a million other users. It's a lottery, if the site doesn't crash on you with the inevitable ddos and you're miraculously able to finish checking out then you win

The two things I wanted most were a mission mode and the ability to race custom routes between tracks and I got them both. There's going to be over a hundred of them, but I hope they will get more involved than just collecting the eight blue coins like they have shown. Won't buy it at launch but will probably pick it up eventually. Mario Kart World is really the only Switch 2 exclusive I care about so far. The Switch 2's price isn't even that bad. If it were $399 instead of $449, I think people wouldn't care as much. The .99 pricing trick is done for a reason. They are never going to be able to beat Double Dash's kart designs. Theming karts around each playable character is far better than what they do now.

The Switch was poised for success no matter what before then, but it wasn't going to come close to "beating the PS2 AND staying full-price" level success without that once-in-a-lifetime immaculate alignment of the planets. Plus, unless it's the flop of the century, GTA6 is going to actually make the competition extremely appealing for a lot of people for the first time in years. The Switch 2 will do well, but without a COVID tier miracle again, it's not touching the Switch 1. >>1140201 Sad to see. >>1140551 >>1140926 I could see 100M. Not beating Switch 1 due to price. That goes for most other consoles too. Didn't Playstation sell less and less each iteration? Which they didn't. Anything else is just cope. People will buy it on credit like they always do. Poorfags will buy it later or get the cheaper model that's coming in two years or son. In fact the economy was way worse during the china-flu and people still were able to buy a switch. This thing will sell a lot faster because again this time you don't have to persuade people. You have 100M users already convinced. As far a sales I think it will sell a lot faster. I might be wrong. >>1141903 Wii sales had already fallen through the floor long before WiiU was even announced, then Nintendo gave it a gimmick that they didn't communicate properly and wasn't well recieved in the first place, it was always going to fail Snes had a very competitive marketplace that the NES didn't, I'm sure there's a lot more like Nintendo's own games lacking the kind of marketability that Sonic had, then there's the part where people just couldn't understand the concept of a console generation which was significant enough to be reported on in mainstream news. 3ds priced itself out of the market especially in Japan, Nintendo are taking steps with the Switch 2 to avoid that in Japan I don't follow Pokemon. You're largely right, follow ups don't just hold the momentum of previous iterations, and Nintendo aren't giving much of a reason to adopt a Switch 2 over a Switch 1, even their launch lineup leaves a lot to be desired.

Did they give out more information about rewind? Like is this a limit on it or you have to go a certain amount of time back before stopping
>>1142504 The only other game the team has done is ARMS and that game wasn’t exactly a hard-hitting title on the switch, especially compared to MK8DX of all things. Assuming they wanna keep this game going throughout the switch2’s life with content updates there’s a good chance they’ll be kept on this for however long since ARMS 2 is about as far from priority as they get. They could do what the splatoon/animal crossing devs did and hire more people so both can be worked on, but that only happened because both series ended up being massive hits and they couldn’t afford to do them one at a time. Again, doubt ARMS 2 is important enough for that >>1143114 As far as it seems there’s no limit or anything, just that it’s only for solo play

Nintendo's new offices just make things interesting, I wonder if it will actually change things, they are effectively doubling their internal staff, the primary goal of the new office is to reduce the amount of outsourcing they do, I hope that includes outsourcing to other Nintendo teams.
>>1143511 >I don't think it takes their whole team to make the booster course, although DLC for this game is a much taller order Yea, with the booster courses those were basically just ported from tour, so work was likely minimal and didn't require a whole team. As for here all assets would have to be fresh
>>1143573 Even with fresh assets you wouldn't need a whole engine dev team, and assets can be farmed out to staff between projects, I don't think a doubling of the games content would require the whole team 8 years. anyway now I'm just arguing pointlessly,I'm just not sure if they will or won't get a second game out, the original Switch saw multiple teams release only 1 title throughout the whole gen, Switch 2 will have 1 3d Zelda and possibly even 1 2d Zelda, things aren't looking too hot for it for the gen.

[Expand Post]--- My side notes: Every cup has 4 race tracks and 3 road trips. There are 7 cups. This means 28 tracks and 21 road trips in total. If you add Rainbow Road, this game has at least 29 tracks. Maybe more if the Special Cup has 4 tracks too. The map also shows at least 29 different locations. Let's pretend that every Track counts as 1 point. And in each cup, you take 3 short roadtrips. So let's say these 3 roadtrips put together count as 1 point. (Since they're basically the "5th" race in every cup.) This means that every cup is worth 5 points (4 tracks + 3 short roadtrips). 7 x 5 = 35 points.... or 36 points if you add the Rainbow Road track. If you divide $80 by 36, that means you pay $2.22 dollars per Track. And that's not even counting the huge open world you can explore, and all the other side content mentioned in the Nintendo Direct. I ain't justifying that $80 price tag, but you do get some bang for your buck.

>>1147031 Just my take, but if Mario Kart World ever gets DLC, they probably won't just shove DLC tracks into the existing map. Like, where the fuck would they put them? There's no room. Instead of that, I think they'll probably create a new map/sandbox with entirely with new areas to explore. The pokemon games already do this. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet's base game take place in a region called Paldea. But the Scarlet/Violet DLC take place in different but smaller regions that aren't in Paldea. They are new maps entirely.
>30FPS in splitscreen oh no no no no..
>>1148283 That’s what I believe as well, whole new area with more courses and whatnot. What i’m mainly wondering is to what scale they’ll do it. Assuming they don’t want it to happen years down the line it’ll have to be at a much smaller scale compared to the main map with a small handful of courses spread between the areas, which will be a bit of a hard sell if it is only a few

Is this angle really necessary?
>>1153962 absolutely
>>1153962 It wasn't just necessary, the addition of "flavor blast" right next to Peach's peach made it absolutely imperative.
>>1153962 So supple. So thicc.
>>1153962 Would you rather we didn’t have it? Is that what you’re saying?
>>1147737 I think Free Roam is going to be used to unlock stuff and serve as single player content. I am looking forward to it, being able to explore is something I enjoy.
>>1157040 I think completing P switch challenges could unlock customizable car parts. Like new wheels and new wheels as rewards for doing these side missions.
>>1157447 Doesn't seem like the vehicles are customizable this time. In the Direct, hitting the switches gave you some kind of sticker. Not sure what that's supposed to be for. Maybe it's just for some kind of player card, maybe you can slap it on your kart... Hell, maybe there's a Miiverse 2 on the horizon that they haven't shown yet.
>>1143114 >>1143268 Was it confirmed solo play?
>>1156086 I can't unsee it being a blue fart cloud
I tried watching the stream some more, but they can't really showcase the map transitions well for the races where you have to race to the next area. I do like that missions are coming back from DS, but DS had missions being separate which made them fast and easy, and the best ones were the boss battles. I'm 100% not buying at launch, since I plan on waiting on getting a switch 2 unless there is no emulation option a couple of years in. But it will be interesting seeing how many people will care on launch. Even with the 3DS dead, people played Mario Kart 7 non-stop. I don't see the reason why people will stop playing Mario Kart 8 either.
>>1147737 It's tacked on to justify the $80 pricetag.

If Double Dash gets added to NSO, will they enable the 16 player lan mode to be playable somehow?
>>1153962 wake me up when nintendo produces in game graphics like this. >>1138453 Yeah, Its comes out the day after my Bday. So I'll probably end up picking them up as gifts for myself.
