Metroid Thread - Metroid Prime 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Edition Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 00:06:41 Id: 97c850 No. 1104740
What are your hopes, dreams, expectations, reservations, etc.? Is it possible to live up to the hype? Will we finally be able to pilot Samus's ship? Why is Sylux such a jobber? Why are there vaginas everywhere on Viewros? <Latest gameplay trailers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b53LOjS2R4U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W9xes7BZto
>>1104740 I hope the game isn't shit and isn't just being sent out by Nintendo to die so they won't have to ever bother with Prime again. I hate Nintendo. If it turns out to be fun, though, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
I didn't like that seems to open with a setpiece level like MP3.
>>1104740 >Why are there vaginas everywhere on Viewros? wut? >>1104783 I think it'll be good. I have no hopes for a Prime 5 either way though. I think Nintendo wants Metroid to go the way of F-Zero.
They cucked out in Metroid Dread by not having her be in a bikini for 100%ing the game. This franchise has no merit now.
>>1104870 >He doesn't know Here's a few, and there's also a boss called Cervix Carvex.
>>1104740 The Switch 2 version’s box art is hideous. Did it really need all those disclaimers? They could have been more subtle about the Switch 2 version upgrade not being on the cart. I’m just going to buy the Switch version. I hope it doesn’t run like complete ass.
>>1105048 Oh shit, I can't believe we're going to see the return of THE BABY
>>1105108 I wonder if people will be able to access the Switch 2 features on the Switch 1 version on Ryujinx.
I hope the psychic shit doesn't slow down the gameplay too bad. I just want Super Metroid Maker at this point tho
>>1105163 imagine we get prime 4 hack without having to wait for a switch 2 emulator? that would be nice.
I think it looks interesting enough. I'm not insanely into MP as a whole, but it might do well
I want platinum to make a metroid stylish game
>>1105529 I just want a Metroid game that takes place in a city. The 'empty planet' aesthetic is getting boring. There don't need to be people, I just want to run down an alley and then kick down a door.
>>1105108 >>1105163 Guys, there IS no Switch 1 version. Switch 2 Enhanced games are Switch 1 games with the Switch 2 upgrade on the card.
>>1105048 This is gonna be the best Metroid ever!
>>1105048 >there are dicks on alien >metroid is based on alien >"lets add pussies"
>>1104740 I don't have high hopes for 4, none of what they've shown so far looks like they learned anything from Prime 3's mistakes. <no beam switching, just shitty non-customizable beam stack <fotm gimmicks that trivialize combat instead of cool weapons <little to no dynamic lighting, because baked-in gay shaders take top priority <logbook entries are an afterthought <snapped together set pieces instead of good level design <the Federation grunts got teleported with you, so it's almost guaranteed there will be another action movie set piece with them, or some faggot radioing Samus exposition and the next waypoint for retards
>>1106648 Yes. >>1106845 <no beam switching, just shitty non-customizable beam stack Yeah, this was a big mistake.
>>1104783 There's that one guy that's completely adamant that Metroid Prime 5 is already in development and is planning to hit in 2027, don't know what his track record is though.
>>1105652 Pretty sure it’s the opposite. The Switch 2 version is just the Switch one cartridge but it comes with a download code for the upgrade. That’s what all those dumb disclaimers on the Switch 2 version’s box are for. Nintendo are doing the same with the supposed switch 2 copies of BotW and Kirby. They’re really trying to kill physical copies.
>>1107657 No, they clarified it. It's a switch 2 cart.
>>1107706 Interesting. I was originally just going to get the Switch 1 version and buy the upgrade separately once I get a Switch 2. I may actually wait until I own a switch 2 before playing this then.
>>1106845 <little to no dynamic lighting, because baked-in gay shaders take top priority Baked lighting is objectively superior to dynamic lighting for most applications, just look at how well Mirror's Edge STILL holds up even to this day. While it is a shame that Prime 1 Remastered got rid of dynamic lighting for beam shots, the baked lighting it uses for everything else makes the game look fantastic, especially for a Switch game. While I too would like if they did bring back the dynamic beam lighting, you can't say that Prime 4 doesn't look great graphically, and that's all thanks to baked lighting.
>>1107657 No, there is no download code. It's ON the cartrage. https://archive.ph/u8yrt >>1107706 Always include a source.
>>1107732 I will buy the Switch 1 version and the upgrade separately just because the box of the Switch 2 version sucks lmao
>>1115749 True post
>>1104740 >Is it possible to live up to the hype? Who knows. Metroid Dread was such a damn good game. Surprisingly not a disappointment, despite the long wait between that and Metroid Fusion. So yeah, I do have some hope for MP4.
>>1120490 >I will buy the Switch 1 version and the upgrade separately Do you know how to read?
>>1104740 I'm honestly expecting something akin to Metroid Prime 3: >more railroaded level design with a focus on "exciting" sequences/setpieces >central gimmick (hypermode in mp3, physic powers in mp4) will be underwhelming but heavily relied upon >possibly leaning too far into spoken dialogue/cinematics than I think is appropriate for a Metroid game Overall a fun game to play through once or twice but with a lot of fat that makes replaying it tedious.
>>1104740 I mostly hope that it doesn't suck

>>1115749 It's hollow without it though. It's absence is painfully obvious in Prime 3, especially when you're going through the Phazon Metroid lab in Skytown, which is intended to be atmospheric, but falls flat without environmental interaction. Prime Remastered just looks like every fan made UE5 remake that relies on blind nostalgia from people who haven't looked at the original in the past 10 years. Bake in all the shaders and particle effects you want, but you can't pretend it's a good substitute for the dynamic lighting. It's a videogame, not a postcard.
>>1122461 >It's hollow without it though. It's really not. Dynamic lighting was cool, but Prime Remastered still looks great without it.
>>1105048 They're really being this unsubtle about it? Lol.
>>1122461 Did people complain about this on release? All that I remember seeing regarding the remake was some bullshit about the doors.
>>1137886 No going back now. :) >>1137913 >Did people complain about this on release? All that I remember seeing regarding the remake was some bullshit about the doors. Yeah, they did. The doors just got more coverage by the media.
>>1106845 >no beam switching, just shitty non-customizable beam stack Do we have confirmation regarding this or are you just extrapolating from the lack of beam switching shown? It's worth noting that what we've seen is basically all early game, so it's entirely possible that beam switching will be a thing.

I'm hyped as fuck still I really want to see more of sylux and how they're going to develop him
>>1104783 It looks like TRANSFORMERS or something. Generic slop. 12 year old me would have hated it, I don't play metroid for gay bionicles robot autism.
>>1137913 The lack of dynamic lighting was really obnoxious as they left the light levels too dark in lots of areas and not being able to pop off a shot to see made navigation more difficult.
>>1142019 Just extrapolating for now, but the purple Power Beam and this HUD element on the bottom left doesn't make me confident that they're bringing beams back.
