>>1092739 I just find their racial mechanics boring, I can't wait for them to finally get a facelift circa 2028. >>1092740 Only when necessary.
>>1092752 >more elfshits jesus fucking christ no
>>1092637 No fucking way we made a thread 2 minutes apart https://8chan.moe/v/res/1092625.html
>https://8chan.se/v/res/1092637.html >/twg/ already split threading The more things change the more they stay the same, atleast Thanquol hasn't found his way here yet.
When I realized all the races/LLs fall into one of 5 templates the game became really boring. Slapping a campaign gimmick ontop for buffs doesn't change the core gameplay.
>>1092799 It was an insane coincidence to be fair
>>1092796 We should use yours as it was first, I should've checked after I finished typing the OP, I checked before I began but not before I clicked post.
I didn't even notice since Thanquolfag isn't here
>>1092801 What 5 templates are those? >Caster(mages etc) >Melee Brawler(Karl Franz, Skarbrand etc) >Melee Assassin(N'kari, Azazel etc) >Missile(Markus, Ikit etc) >Support(Kostaltyn, Volkmar) Unless you're talking less or more broadly?

>not been able to play for a year as I've been living abroad for work
>>1092772 we haven't gotten elfshits in a while though
>>1092625 i wanna get into Warhammer 3, but wew lad, i need to free up some memory first. it's wild that all 3 games together is like 200GB+. i haven't played much since trying to learn Warhammer 2, but i enjoyed my time learning and wanna see the new, even bigger campaign map.
>>1092857 Melee slugfest army Gunner formation army War machine army Flanker/Kiting army Cavalry Hammer Anvil army Hero heavy army
>>1093087 You only need to download 3, the other two you just need to own for the content to appear In 3's game files all the models are already present
>>1092820 Threads were merged and yours won, whatever, at least we have the OP links
>>1092771 But think about the Dread Saurian doomstacks!
>>1093107 3 is complete dogshit standalone. Everyone plays for immortal empires.
Are any of the games after Shogun 2 actually worth playing Rome 2 and Attila sucked so I didn't buy any more
3 kingdoms is the only one I played, it was okay but the dlc being different eras and exclusive to each other kind of sucked. Balance seemed kind of fucked but got through it, supposedly they buffed yellow units right after I finished.
>>1093984 I liked Attila, but unless you like a fantasy setting, no.
>>1093107 wait, really? i thought it was like how you needed to have WH1 downloaded to play the big campaign map in WH2. does WH3 really have all the assets? >>1093961 right see that's more inlign with what i expected.
>>1094137 Atilla basically has the best mod if you want more Medieval. Hope the 1212 AD guys finish it before they give up.
>>1094945 I remember the mod not being released for public for years or something shit. Despite people playing battles and campaign. Really put me off.
>>1094955 Campaign's out and stuff, but there's a lot of important stuff missing like naval armies/battles.
>>1094920 I've definitely played with all content unlocked just with 3, though I also had creamapi active to unlock all content. Perhaps you need certain DLC to access the content.
>>1093961 Read my post again, dumbass
>>1094920 >>1095210 You used to need to buy WH1 and WH2 to be able to play IE in WH3 but ecelebs kicked up enough of a fuss and got their followings to do the same so I think around the time of the chaos dwarf DLC (around the time that fancy trailer they made for IE dropped) they changed it. Now if you buy WH3 you can play IE with the base WH3 factions + Bretonnia and Belakor. Buying the old base games unlocks the factions in the base game, though you can also buy individual DLCs to unlock the race + faction (for example if you buy Ikit vs Teny you get to play Skaven)
>>1095210 >>1095250 ayyyy! that's incredibly based, thanks bros.
>>1095210 I only bought the blood god dlc because it needed seperate files, the other dlcs are pre-installed. >>1095343 if you don't have creamunlocked (handy program that works for the TTW and paradox games) and can't find it online just tell me I'll catbox it.
>tfw can't play tww3 as my dog shit os wont run it. Man fuck linux.
>>1095487 Why won't it run? TWWH3 is specifically Linux compatible, even says so on Steam. Or is it the specific distro?
>>1095500 I am running Linux mint. Running the linux version crashes the game when starting any campaign. Trying to use proton doesn't work either as it crashes a few seconds after starting a new campaign.
>>1095509 Xunbutu used to run WH2 just fine for me. Admittedly I haven't tried WH3 or Linux in general in years. Surely there's a fix out there, Mint's one of the more used ones.
>>1095553 I have tried a ton of things. even E-mailed the guys who made the linux port who suggested using GNOME to launch the game. That took fucking forever to load though and I am fairly sure I did it wrong.
time for my thousandth Ikit campaign...
>>1095603 seriously how could you get bored of this
>>1095648 I haven't played Ikit in a long while For some reasons I always found throt more fun
>>1095678 He do love guns more than monsters but throt can be really funny I agree,do you play him with the mods that allow you to modifity allied troops?
>>1095678 Throt can buff and improve the whole roster whereas Ikit focuses all his buffs and mechanics on just the weapon teams and vehicles so Throt has a lot more variety.
I tried starting an IE campaign with Kugath and it's still an absolute slogfest of trudging through zombie doomstacks. Basically have turtle mode hard until you rack up plagues to turbo boost your building cycles and finally steamroll ghorst unless goldtooth decides to tag in and make it even worse. God damn, I can't wait until slaanesh gets a much needed dlc.
I wish there was more crossover games with other SEGA franchises. An official Shin Megami tensei total war would be insanely cool.
Is there any other race besides HE that have an almost meta starting units?
>>1097506 Dark Elves have Darkshards. Wood Elves have Glade Guard. Elf archers are simply insane.
>>1097506 I remember trying Grom when he was released and the buffs he gives to basic goblins is insane.
>>1097528 That said, how do people consider any of the Elves to be bad? Who cares if their mechanics are a bit boring when their entire rosters feel complete and unreasonably strong. There's a reason most anons say they AR against Welves and Delves.

>>1097602 Was more thinking of these hee hos running at each other. Not sure how Total War would handle demon fusion, but it would be interesting.
>>1097602 I actually haven't touched the tallyman yet but every campaign i've played since he was added he seems to just dominate the region he starts in and makes a beeline to norsca.Tempted to just ditch this kugath camp and start a tallyman camp now.
>>1097624 am curious about the rumored 40k game, because why wouldn't they. I hope they gonna fix the random gun line of sight problems >>1097651 he's all about plagues and plaguebearers (starts with motherfucking exalted ones). Pretty sure he gives them horrible regen. His position isn't the worst and he isn't disgustingly op as the ogre zombie I forgot the name of
>>1097651 >>1097663 Epidemius can be frustrating at first because he has to deal with Malus Darkblade almost immediately, Tamurkhan is definitely the easiest Nurgle faction but Epidemius is certainly the most fun because you have to actually think and strategize to defeat Malus due to his sheer power.
>>1097685 been having a blast with Kairos since his rework, 187% spell intensity is insane. Am always laughing they gave an ear-raping throaty voice to the most micro-heavy hero for Tamurkan

I still want an Empire 2.0, and if it has to be fictional setting then do something with space. I want muh space battles.

>>1097697 Tzeentch is my favourite monogod to play, followed closely by Nurgle with Khorne a distant third and Slaanesh a VERY distant fourth. Say what you want about GW and CA but they can design a cool looking monster.
>>1097724 Unfortunately or not considering the modern industry mods will be the only thing we'll get for RTS related Star Wars. >>1097744 Is there anyone who likes Slaneesh that isn't a tranny?
>>1097663 >>1097685 looking up his traits it seems like he gives plaguebearers the Grom treatment which after a certain point your standard plaguebearers are on par with chosen. I'll give him a shot today.
>>1097506 Khorne gets basic Bloodletters and Chaos Warriors of Khorne so he wins here. WoC are the best in this regard though, they can find Aspiring Champions, Trolls and Dragon Ogres all around the map almost everywhere, but that only partially counts because of how they recruit >>1097724 40k is apparently next, but I wouldn't hold your breath for space battles. It will likely be the Warhammer 2/3 naval system, where you fly on a ship, but the actual combat is on a regular battlefield between units, likely aboard one of the ships.
>>1097756 I like Slaanesh from Fulgrim novel and the third book of the series I think it was Horus Rising.
>>1097790 >likely aboard one of the ships And siege battles will be on planets with a single wall in a corner settlement.
>>1097790 >40k is apparently next, but I wouldn't hold your breath for space battles. It will likely be the Warhammer 2/3 naval system, where you fly on a ship, but the actual combat is on a regular battlefield between units, likely aboard one of the ships That would be easily the worst outcome. Battlefleet Gothic shows how you can do it and make it fun.
>>1097805 God please no, battles on planets should be a multistage thing. But if theres no spaceships they'll have it set on a single planet.
>>1097744 >>1097756 I like slaneesh for its idea of the quest for perfection corrupting you. Reminds me of this part in SC2:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw_GN3v-0Ls ingame slaneesh is fun as fuck to play because it's basically a race made out of chariot and before the rework the only one where the campaign mechanics still mattered after 30 turns
(386.93 KB 1920x1080 Warhammer2_tLkvch1KQm.jpg)

fuck all the soycuck mods from 4chan, also chaos is being fucked very hard
>>1097790 >>1097807 How the fuck are they going to do 40K though? Everyone has automatics and there's tons of squad based combat. Everyone would play like Skaven
>>1097867 Maybe like how Petroglyph did Great War?
>>1097867 Space marines would be like ogres. Guardsmen would be like skaven. Tyranids would be like vampire counts. Other factions would be the same aka Eldar = elves, orcs = orcs, monogod = monogods with chaos warriors replaced with chaos space marines.
>>1097744 I want the Creative Assembly Limited, a Subsidiary of SEGA Sammy, to give me a Tzeentch tech tree rework so I can be truly happy. It annoys me to play a race when they're guaranteed to get a rework at this stage, likely the moment they get Egrimm as a FLC or DLC. >>1097867 Generally there'd be more ranged and hybrids but there'd be races like Nids, Orks that want to beat you up, and Space Marines would just be Ogres. Look at the Ironblasters, they're probably how Plasma Cannon Devastators will work. Other races are going to be mostly ranged, but pretty much everyone has a few melee focused squads.
>>1097956 tzeench tech is good wdym? The tech that gives your horrors arcane mirth is great >>1097867 more shooty or specialized units that go into melee like terminators. Just look at DOW
>>1097624 >>1097867 don't forget wh40k combat scale is WAY higher than WH fantasy like, retardedly high numbers of guardsmen are in every unit and battle
>>1097971 That tech is retarded actually. Mirth is a trait Exalted Horrors have, and because it gives this skill to the lower tier Horrors that don't take 2 turns to recruit, it devalues them. Almost all the techs are mostly insignificant with little to look forward to, excluding I guess the ones that unlock Changings of the Way, which probably shouldn't be taking up space in the tech tree to begin with. This tech tree is way behind the new ones for every single reworked race whether it is Kislev, Dwarfs, Empire, Nurgle or Khorne.
>>1097910 Honestly I'd rather you merge the human factions into a single race. It would fit 40k far more if space marines were individual units rather than factions per chapter. And then what you could do is, in the pre battle screen, customize your guys. So make all your guard regiments from say, Cadia or Armageddon. Make your marines smurfs or dark angels or whatever. Maybe even colour individual units (so every standard marine squad is smurf, but if you've got assault marine squad it's blood angels, etc)
>>1098111 You would be very naive to think every space marine chapter won't be separate DLC.
>>1098190 Space Wolf smart (for a space wolf)
>>1098111 There's no chance of that, GW won't like that and most players wouldn't want the Imperium to be all bunched up together, and recognisable characters sell. I don't even think the Space Marines will be one race, at some point it'd be bloated beyond recognition. Ultramarines will be a race, and the lords will be Gulliman, Calgar, Sicarius. Thousand Sons will eventually be a race, with Magnus and Ahriman. Hopefully that extends to other races and not just two types of Marines, so we will not have just the Imperial Guard, but Cadia and Steel Legion, T'au and Farsight Enclave separate, and others.
>>1097971 Bird's tech tree is actually quite outdated, it was made by a team who only develop the base total war game. It aged better since it's not as hyper specific (tied to RoC start position) as other pre-rework monogods trees but still.
>>1098190 DLCs are factions based on the LL. Way I'd do it is. You have the base colours unlucked at release so you can paint your guys however. But for example, when you release your obligatory Lion El'Jonson dark angels DLC, you not only introduce some unique units or whatever for the Imperium roster like you see now with the TWW model, but you also introduce unique customization option that makes your guys look even more like dark angels
>>1098241 That'll bloat the race selection up really fast.
>>1098321 If someone is going to buy a grand strategy warhammer 40k game, then it's definitely for the bloat.
>>1098321 With how fast CA is lately? That's long years and lots of income for them before it's overly cluttered. They could also fix the UI by making you pick a race (SM, CSM, crons, AM, SoB, tau), subrace if available (Ultramarines, Salamanders), commander (Guilliman). When it comes to the game itself and not faction choice UI, yeah, there will be inevitable bloat, but that's what your average Warhammer player me included wants
>>1098387 Total War isn't grand strat but pedantry aside, even WH3 now feels really bloated on the campaign map. Unless the map is much much bigger I don't see how that could work. >>1098412 I wouldn't say start position bloat is a good thing. Then again they could bring back the old start position method of WH1.

Do some spells not work underground? playing balthasar and while i was in a battle underground some of his spells did not work
finally, found you fags
>>1098704 summon the elector counts
>>1098704 welcome anon!
>>1098495 Some maps interfere with bombardment spells yes. The spawn point for the projectiles of these spells (searing doom, piercing bolts of burning, slicing shards) are fairly high up and anything in between will interfere and soak it up. In underground map sometimes the ceiling is low enough to fuck with it.
>>1095487 just use windows, why torture yourself. linux is for web servers and dockerslop
Is there more to kislev than spamming kossars? They don't even feel like a good unit, it's so unsatisfying compared to cathay/dank elves missile fire
>>1097744 >Tzeentch only has one campaign stuck in the ass end of the world >Only alternative start is the fucking changeling who isnt even a real campaign. When is the Tzeentch FLC lord?
>>1098894 I have my schizo headcanon it'll be Skulls event. It's the perfect place for someone like Egrimm
>>1098495 >>1098765 Also if you try to cast a summoning spell behind a wall and you're attacking, it won't work until you either breach the wall or you open the gate. >>1098842 Kislev's roster is not that big but in general you spam Kossars and a few Warriors early, then you replace them with Armoured Kossars and you also get bear riders, Ice Guard, Little Grom. You can also make hero stacks led by a Boyar, you can make a cav Boyar stack that also is fun, or have a Maiden lead Sisters of Avelorn (far cheaper) (worse) (ice). It's very easy to globally recruit shit fast because of all the techs, so I'd say Kislev's unit diversity is just fine, everything except cheap cav can be used. Not sure about Ostankya's units because I don't use those when I'm not playing her and I'd rather play a cooler character like any of the other three
>>1098842 >>1099224 Early game Kislev still feels really bad with kossar spam. Though warriors have done something to mitigate it a bit. Issue is you gotta move so fast you don't have time to wait for armored kossars, tzar guard and streltsi Tier IV is when you start getting really fun units like ice guard, gryphon legion, war bear riders and little grom (best anti-arty arty in the game. Seen a pair obliterate a daemon engine mortar in two volleys)
Cult of Ulric fucking never
>3 skaven armies with full stacks kill me
>>1101322 Every time I start a campaign that has Skaven nearby I think I'm going to have fun until I hear the first warp lightning drop. Then I just stop having fun. God I hate rats.
(324.41 KB 1641x970 average cathay run.jpg)

>>1101322 I know that feel.
>>1101797 God I hate Eshin >constant ambushes >ridiculously powerful clanstone >ridiculously good ranged Only kindness is their AI doesn't recruit warplock masters as much.
>>1101322 After the rats give me a bad time I play malagor and just rape the fuck out of queek for 20 turns
>>1101322 Skaven are annoying at best, they're not half as bad as the Dwarfs. Even after the nerfs, the Thunderbarge is mostly bullshit and post-rework Dwarfs also like spamming Gyrocopters. I don't know why the weak Dread Saurian has a cap when it wouldn't change anything if it was uncapped, but the Thunderbarge half the factions have trouble against is fine to spam. To make matters worse even if the Dwarf AI forgets to build the gyrocopter/barge line, they will still be more annoying than the Skaven because Dwarfs are all unbreakable hardy autists
>>1101975 Dread Saurian was back when CA at least pretended to care about balance in campaign. Lucky the Thunderbarge is no match for Chorf Blunderbussy.
>>1102005 I think some people at CA care about balance, it's just that it's random who is in charge of what race. Greenskins were mostly nerfed with their last rework because they no longer can get two economy buildings in every settlement, very justly so, but not too long before that Dwarfs got a huge buff way beyond what Greenskins ever were, and then another buff with the Deeps. Khorne also got stronger, and I think Khorne was already stronger than the Orcs were. <Blunderbussy Hashut zaraz gorm, anon.
>>1102111 I'm pretty sure the people that did OoD and the people that did ToD were the same. The difference is probably what was happening at the time of each DLC. Gotta remember that Thrones of Decay was situation where if they fucked up even slightly it was fucking over for them. They had to do well and in a situation like that better not try for balancing through nerfs because that'll just piss people off even if it's something that's needed/deserved. And you were dealing with two very popular races (and nurgle). Don't get why they nerfed greenskins and didn't at least fix the waagh causing slower movement. That honestly would have been a decent trade off.
if i liked playing Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith Siege matches in BFME2's multiplayer, can i get a similar experience outta TWW3? i saw a Workshop Item called "Fort Maps" or something that looks like it adds a bunch of Castle Siege style maps to the Custom Battle mode and i'm excited to give them a try.

>>1105996 i mean the cavalry behaves pretty similarly in total war, you should try it. I was filtered hard by the 4x gameplay but now im used to it, finally i can enjoy the best warhammer fantasy game now
>>1093984 Are you smoking crack? Rome 2 is without a doubt the greatest vanilla tw game. It even has the greatest tw mod, DEI
>>1106869 awesome! i look forward to getting started in a couple hours. i get what you mean about the 4x stuff, too, hat's kinda how i felt playing TWW2, even though i have like 50 hours in it. i struggled to learn the 4x mechanics and the battle mechanics at the same time, so i think i'm gonna start with more Custom Battles this go around instead of starting several Immortal Empires campaigns where i get smoked in the first 15 turns. lol
You guys weren't fucking around when you said try tallyman. It was a rough start but I was eventually shitting out plagues like it was nothing. I also have a new found hatred for Malus and Daniel.
How did Total War regress this far? Medieval 2 had better gun animations than this.

is this really the new /twg/? i dont like it here, i want to go back >.<
Is this the place, frens? >>1105996 Siege map in TWW3 is ok, but the AI is really bad at those battles. Defensive siege can be fun, but the AI tends to starve you out rather than assaulting the city.
>>1098495 small britsh company, please understand.
>>1109329 Give it time, think of it as staying in a hotel instead of being homeless, that'll probably help.
>>1109329 What's wrong with it? It's perfectly serviceable when/if 4chan, /vg/ specifically, returns.
>>1109604 yeah and it doesnt seem too bad here, especially since nsfw is allowed
>>1109690 Being able to post multiple files has come in handy a couple of times now, wouldn't mind having it back home, even with the 4mb limit.
>>1105996 Sieges in WH3 are in a pretty bad place due to AI pathfinding and the way objectives work (AI just focuses too hard on capturing objectives). If your thing isn't defending the walls to the last but rather street combat in narrow spots, some maps can be really good, like Cathay's bastion maps
>>1098894 you can tp your leader with cults now
>>1108289 There's mods up on the database to reintroduce reload animations for everyone (they exist in the files and for some reason just aren't implemented for WH2 and WH1 races) as well as better matched combat. Though you ALSO need the compatibility mod to run both. But it's worth it, does make playing races like Empire much better.
>>1098894 Kairos can technically teleport to Bretonnia and far northeast close to wastes turn 1. He'll be there by turn 2, ready to rumble. It's not as good as having another lord, but it has to do before we get Egrimm.
any bretonnia mod idea?

Lads there is a /vg/ board, now that we gathered enough people we can move the general there since this board is quickly becoming just generals and I would like to also have /v/
>>1111774 PACK UP THE CAMP BOYS!
>>1111774 /vg/ board is not a video game general board despite the name, and nobody is there. This thread should stay here unless it gets thrown out by the mods.
>>1111843 Matters little, we have to repurpose it 8/v/ wasn't ready for this many generals
>>1111906 Not sure there's a point, did you ask Mark for his opinion? Does he want us out?
>>1111913 I don't know, I'm a newfaggot, but I'm seeing the board overrun by us and in the meta thread they are discussing what to do about it, I thought it would be polite to us to colonize a dead board and proliferate there, using the name /vg/ to attract other refugees looking for us
>AI beta 2 is extremely disappointing I've decided to play as Queek because he is surrounded by exactly the sort of guys who should hate you and declare war on you, but they ignore me. They have -100 relations, one weak enemy, and they won't attack. This shouldn't happen on Legendary, they should be way more aggressive. >>1111968 Then I don't see any point. If Mark says so then we should move, but otherwise it'd be a stupid decision both for us and the board.
>>1112100 Unless they changed something massively, AI takes into consideration how many wars you're in. If you're not in any you get random war declarations. If you're in a few, you usually are fine and don't get a lot of declarations. It's why when you're past a certain amount of wars that the AI starts going crazy again.
>no news today either So the DLC really is that far away, huh. Hopefully they will fix up the AI beta at least, I'm underwhelmed. >>1112168 They would've declared war twice over in the first beta. Imrik is at war with Tretch who is getting stretched hard by his every neighbour as everyone declared war on him, Imrik should declare war on me and Tretch should want to confederate me after losing the capital to Imrik, not have -60 "agreement" points. I hate how CA made confederations harder than WH2, one of the very few things that are worse
>>1093097 just got the game to play night goblins with skarsnik. What kind of team are they?
>>1112100 >ai beta is extremely disappointing I've been having a decent experience so far, played 3 campaigns to roughly turn 40 and deciding if I want to start a new one or continue one of those campaigns. All 3 have had more dynamic factions overall, with small empires spread around. Since they don't prioritize the player though, it's super easy to pick off holes in their defences while they are off doing whatever else.
>>1113369 Skarsnik can do anything with Goblins, he can spam ranged, spam melee, as long as it's a gobbo it will work. Squig goblin units were shit last time I tried them so I'd be wary of those though. >>1113375 Maybe I'm really wrong here because I've had a very good run in beta 1, though I only had time for a single one back then and I already am on my 5th campaign (I typically end at turn 40-60). I did see some signs of the AI doing better than vanilla so the beta is definitely worth keeping, but I can't help but admit I expected more.
>>1113409 >>1113369 I tried a few campaigns in beta 1, including a fun skarsnik campaign where me and gorbad took over the badlands and fought off stacks of lizardmen, the ai there felt more aggressive but also more broken to me so it still had its problems. I would like more too but you can't really expect much from ca at this point. It would need another 1-2 betas after this to be in an ideal state

>>1113524 >>1113409 I'm gonna try to play goblins then, do they have netters? If not then hopefully I can find a mod to add them in as night goblins with no netters makes no sense. The squig thing sucks I love squigs. Hopefully I can just do an easy campaign with a lot of battles but not the usual bullshit where a neighboring faction conjures a 20 stack out of thin air in one turn.
(242.01 KB 800x565 1707405325434800.png)

I can't remember off the top of my head if there's a spider ror or a chatacter with nets but none of their recruitable units have nets. They do have ways to disappear and also slow down the enemy, however. I personally use squig hoppers, they die quickly but they get a lot of kills for how expendable they are. They can be upgraded quite a bit too. The defeault squigs are crap but also you can recruit them from literally anywhere. The first few turns are rough but once you get some money going you will be the faction conjuring up 20 stacks.
>>1114142 I think there's a mod for netters, I know the gnoblars have them There's also a mod for a forest spider tribe in the empire While I'm at it I'll shill improved victory conditions mod as well, just makes the short victory more fun
>>1114264 you mean wolfy's victory conditions overhaul? Also what mods are decent? I also saw that right on the front page of the workshop is a squig overhaul mod.
This is the mod that adds the netters btw if you guys wanna give it a look. I think my favorite part about it are the fanatics and how you don't get to control them at all. Once they see the enemy they let loose and god help whatever is in their way. Should be hilarious and a lot of fun. What do you guys think?

>>1115241 >sometimes the units will do very stupid shit if you use Babysitter could you speak to this a little more? i'm considering using it.
>>1117555 It's more about the way game works. Let's say your Chieftain on a Rat Ogre is fighting regular Chaos Warriors with his Stormvermin. Once they're gone, Babysitter will make him go attack the nearest other target. What if it's Chosen (Halberds) (fast for a Dwarf) and you don't notice because babysitter makes you less cautious, and his Rat Ogre animation of course makes the guy charge in the middle once he attacks them? Stormvermin are far slower and they aren't there to bail him out, and even if they were, he is in the middle by now. He dies. It's great when you break down the gate, the units will just fight on their own, but sometimes babysitter will screw you over. It's great to have 90% of the time though, but I've had times when I hoped I don't have it and I stopped using it mostly, I just micro myself and turn it on whenever I feel like it.

Plus all their missiles and what not don't always die very quickly so you're losing early battle moments trying to kill off the missiles, giving their army time to react to you.

>>1141609 Waagh's either 15 or 20 turns I think. Probably 15.
You guys think the Chaiwanese area of the map is a bit too lacking in rival factions? yao ming and Ming Yao just tag team the entire region half the time, and even then one of them will just gobble up everything the other half didn't. I've never once seen zhao ming lose everything, he usually sits on power rank 3 or 4 half the campaign from turn 40 on. I'm hoping the next Slanch legendary lord, whoever the mortal or demon ends up being, is in the new hinterlands southern mountain province so that zhao and gelt have something to do besides pick on the elderly and canadian pirates
>>1141624 it sure feels longer than that
>>1141648 The times I play Miao I usually use the corruption mods so the campaign ends up being fairly interesting rivals wise, but the problem is the combined mods make her far too powerful. Regular campaign it usually gets a bit boring once you clear out Eshin and Lohkir, but IEE helps since it gives you Korea and Mongolia to invade and get invaded from. In fact Korea gives Vilitch a viable way to attack you without having to go around the mountains of Mourne.
>>1141648 This is just a product of AI incompetence. Miao Yuan and Zhao have to contend with >Zhatan >Vilitch >Greasus >Ghorst >Nakai >Lokhir >Snikch >Minor Greenskins >Minor Coast >Minor Wood Elves(With a Treeman lord) >Potentially Kugath, Kholek, Tamurkhan and even Grimgor And yet none of them are a major threat because Cathay have the strongest Order economy, the infantry and air of Dwarfs, the missiles of Elves, the monsters of Lizardmen and SEM Legendary Lords that are also spellcasters. I'm not seething that Cathay are so strong but it's an undeniable fact that they are by far the strongest game 3 faction and easily one of the top 5 races in player hands, the weirdest part is that they're complete doormats when the AI play them(hence all the minor Cathay factions getting munched in the first 20 turns).
>>1142061 Because they're weak in AR. When you look at how well a faction does, you always gotta account for AR. LLs get boosts to AR but against other LLs they'll lose Lizards are insane in AR, and chaos are probably THE strongest AR race (it's them, chorfs or dorfs). It just takes a couple of chaos warriors. The times the WoC don't dominate is when they don't properly recruit chaos warriors.
>>1141811 I like the expanded map for adding the korea-chaw but it makes my shit too slow, i pretty much only use it when I have hours of meetings to bullshit through in a mega modded campaign as the Fimir or Estalia or that one beastmeme faction thats all centigors, man those are fun
>>1142212 I don't mind slow turns. Lets me do other stuff in the mean time like post or whatever. But yeah it does slow my shit down. Then again I run 166 mods so you know, lol lmao and what not.
Can the AI get legendary heroes before you? I finished that first quest to Scyla (get 800 in raiding) and then nothing else.
>>1129387 >deliberately play in a lame way >complain that the game is lame there are plenty of problems with the game but I swear most of the complaints I see the most are entirely because you chose to play that way. this is like complaining that mario is all about jumping through walls just because you watched a speed running tranny do it and literally can't stop yourself from copying it now.
>>1142556 I don't remember the AI being able to "steal" your heroes
>>1142556 There was a period of time where Wood Elves could lose out on Ariel, but that was a bug. I don't think it should ever happen. Quests for Karanak and Skarr have some sort of weird requirements to appear. Skarr's quest I think requires a high-tier Khorne warrior/chosen barracks (?) or Exalted Hero equivalent to be started.

>photos taken seconds before a disaster
>>1152777 that actually seems like a fun way to play though, the hit and run thing I mean. Althought I am NOT fast and performing actions and that method of play seems rather micro heavy. Is there a video I can watch that goes more in depth to this or a written guide. Just curious, if there isn't I don't mind. I'm going through the game's tutorial campaign right now since, out of the 38 hours I've played, I've never actually done it lol.
>>1152929 You can watch vids but micro'ing is something you just gotta pick up on. Use the pause and slow down buttons to slowly learn, no shame in that. Also keep in mind I'm extrapolating from other stuff. I don't play greenskins. I'm just assuming it's a skink situation.
>>1152929 >>1152929 there's a lot of guides on youtube on battle controls, using shortcuts and things like that makes micro a lot easier but it is mostly muscle memory. as for goblins specifically, you should always try to outnumber the enemy and attack from every angle, take advantage of stalk, magic, and hire an extra army. Your infantry is cheap so dont be afraid to recruit more if they take too much damage. skarsnik's faction can get dot attacks for night goblins later in the game too, so try to get as much scrap as you can
(694.89 KB 1920x1080 cheats.jpg)

i had to stare at this for a second to figure out whats going on here its a club handle or something, with 2 white lion axes stacked ontop of each other using the maneater variety mod, most of the variants look cool but some are just goofy
>>1143674 put enough hours in to try all of that stuff in multiple campaigns with mediocre results. Watched legend one time and realised how easy it actually is. But you're right, you can't go back besides making a few meme stacks here and there. pvp was alright though.
So this is where everybody went?
>>1165009 Seems so.
>>1152929 Night gobbos have stalk so you get to pick the battle field every engagement, all ranged and artillery armies insta lose. Gobbo cav is so damn fast it just zooms past slow enemies on most maps(makes underway stance risky for gob armies) It's more about campaign map mukkin about and setting up good fights with lodsa advantages for you, either ambush or underway detect Personally I enjoy fighting skaven with stalking units like night goblins, you dodge the worst of their artillery and weapons teams, a well placed fanatic revealing itself, drawing in like 4 rats and letting loose a loonie, squigs in general just shit on rats
i've done a couple Sieges with the Ass Ladders Begone mod now and it's signficantly more fun than i remember Sieges being in Warhammer 2. seeing enemies use their siege equipment, target walls and gates, and concentrate their forces on vulnerable areas instead of just rushing my walls and climbing up my shit from everywhere is giving me that BFME2 feel i was looking for! and so far i've won both games on Easy, so i might jump up to Normal or add another AI army to the attacking team today.
>>1167325 well on easy you can just send units to beat whatever unit you want and they will mostly suceed. when you put diff on normal you actually have to take care with unit matchups
>>1167397 ohh, okay interesting. i'll have to try a normal difficulty game against the same armies i fought yesterday before adding another army then. i tried to think strategically with my army placement and engagement tactics. most of my gates and vulnerable walls had at least one unit of frontline footsoldiers posted behind them, and had one unit of cavalry off to the side a little so that once enemy units engaged with them i could swarm in from the side on horseback and pincer them/break their formation. ironically the thing i felt i did the worst job of micromanaging was magic and using hero abilities. though those did come in handy when i struggled with some of the monstrous units who got through.
>>1134511 the ID makes the thread slow
>>1167325 I still don't see why everyone is fixated on ladders when shogun 2 had ok sieges even when everyone could ninja climb. the real problems are obviously map design and penalties for climbing being too small.
