I really wish the OMW devs were more aggressive about getting other Gamebryo games to work, I understand it's a lot of effort because TES4 is a different version of the engine and Fallout 3/NV are a different version to that, there's differences in NIF structure and engine architecture across all of them, but the speed they're going at is absolutely glacial.

That's generally true but it actually really depends on the game, apparently almost 90% of Final Fantasy 16's sales were in the first few days. In an extreme case of this being true, Dragon's Dogma's sales were almost entirely from 2016 onward, four years after launch.

AAA operates in a completely different way to the rest of the industry and it's at times really strange, they also don't understand the rest of the industry very well. Look at how many ostensively indie studios are founded by former Blizzard/Ubisoft/Riot/Bethesda people, start acting like AAA studios by hiring hundreds of people, and go under before they get their first game out.
