It's an SNES action RPG, where the action is in a 2.5d field like a brawler. It's also open-world, and you can run around the whole continent, humping the walls and looking for upgrades. What would be better is if on top of looking like a brawler, it actually played like one, without knockback animations and iframes on every hit. The open world is 90% caves. I could be cute here and list all the fucking caves in this game, but fixing the bland, repetitive window dressing wouldn't fix the bland, repetitive dungeon crawling underneath. The writing, too, starts of well enough: you're a shonen hero archetype and a wizard stole your girl. Twenty hours CAVES later there's almost no development to the plot. The villain you were after from chapter one is still in his stronghold waiting for you to show up and kill him. You just meet a parade of throwaway NPCs who mostly exist to lay pipe and point you to the next cave. The fun part is when you go off in some other direction, ignoring the plot for awhile and find some weird tree in the countryside that makes you go "wow, what the hell is this?" and inside you find some dude who upgrades your fire magic. You're visiting places that aren't on the mainline, so you kinda have to keep your own notes about where you've been, which I think is also fun. It was such a good time for maybe the first five hours that I want to fire up OpenBOR and make something more colorful and fun, with less inane hoop-jumping and more exploration. >WATCHAN ST:TNG. Mizutsune was alright. He's still full of part breaks and dies like a bitch accordingly when that gets stacked with wounds. I don't like that Soulseer mechanics are now base Mizutsune mechanics now, feels like a shitty retcon and devalues Soulseer a ton. Could've made a ton more original moves for him and made him actually as nimble as the portable titles instead. They roided out his gear to make his weapons able to compete with Artian shit. Set has a ton of good slots and his weapons get 30% affinity if you have bubbly dance up while being on par with Balahara weapons statwise (but with more white sharpness). Had a fun four-gunlance hunt against his tempered version though, which while it was an actually good fight solo the fight crumbles to dust when you put 4 competent players in the ring. <Granblue Fantasy VS: Rising Did some S rank matches with Anila, fell out of S rank because of a wall I thought I wouldn't have to deal with until much later. I don't know how to fight against half the cast since the people I play with regularly only play about 1/3 of it and I cover the rest of the difference with my oddball character choices compared to them. As a consequence, I don't know how to fight a lot of the "netplay warrior" characters like Cagliostro, Versusia, Sandalphon, or Vira too well. Vira I have a partial understanding from so many matches against her (she's just a big pile of knowledge checks, thus her popularity in netplay), but everyone else in that list I have no real idea how to fight. So back to A rank I go for now and I'll probably bounce between high A and low S for a while until I figure this out. Doesn't help that Anila lacks a lot of the tools better characters have. One hard fight does not a good game make, and even this fat fuck is dying sub-15 now. I started with that game but after going back to the older games and playing a good portable-style one with Rise I realized the game for what it was. Now we've had the Fallout 4 mass success slop game with Wilds, which has tried to MMO-ify the game with 100 player lobbies, no way to make public small-scale gathering hub lobbies anymore, shitty FOMO event quests that only run for two weeks at a time, and even more micro transaction bullshit than Rise and World had at this time. It's depressing more than anything really. The quests and playing with randoms just feels hollow and lifeless now, few people talk to each other or emote at each other, and people no longer respect the host wishes and constantly try to end the fight early. They also added floating damage numbers with World and the consequences are in full swing with this game having most players ignore non-head hitzones entirely and constantly stagger each other just as much as people did in World, only now you can't even upswing people for fun anymore because fuck you. Also they took all the cool shit away from Heavy Bowgun that the previous few games had been giving it and now it's back to being a boring gun with no heavy customization and no cool moves like crouching fire (hold to lock yourself in place and fire from reserves, builds up speed but has an overheat meter), or charged fire.

A few things I did that helped was turning on all of the Extended Map Context under difficulty settings (which displays enemies on your map if your teammates have spotted them) as well as doing proper field recon before entering an objective + approaching it from high ground which helps with visibility. Also, as a last resort you might turn on Vision Aid in difficulty settings. It looks quite bad imo, but it helps. Also, what are your AI settings? The perfect balance imo is AI Skill at 1.00 and AI Accuracy at 0.25 or 0.30. Overall though, practice makes perfect. As I play the game more and more, I notice that I have an easier time noticing enemies. So, just git gut I guess? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) >the ui is terrible Never noticed any glaring issues with it, except for squad management. So I assume you mean the squad management UI mostly? In that case, the SOG AI mod helps as it adds a very easy to use & intuitive radial wheel menu with the help of which you can give basic orders to your troops. Just a warning though: you will need to either buy the Prairie Fire DLC or download the Prairie Fire Compatibility Data from Steam Workshop & then enable it in the mods menu. Ultimately though, it's also a case of practice makes perfect. Even the vanilla menu becomes usable after a few dozen hours of squad commanding.

If emulating old games on linux wouldn't have worked I think I might have just chimped out in anger. F-zero is fucking awesome, You go so fucking fast in this game it will make sure you can never play mario kart ever again. Hunter the reckoning is a game that had horrible slowdown on my previous system but it seems to be emulating well now. >PLAYAN <Granblue Fantasy VS: Rising Tried to get the sheep back to S rank and just got stuck in A1. I went up against and fought nothing but Versusia players outside of two matches and was losing more matches than I was winning and STILL can't figure out how to fight her. And on top of that one of the non-versusia matches the opponent just fucking ragequits on me the minute he starts losing. I swapped back to my actual main of Charlotta for a few matches and went right back to winning just fine in S rank, despite not playing her for a month. If I can figure out how to consistently beat this dragonlady with the sheep I can probably get Anila much higher, but it feels like such a lopsided matchup. <TESIV: Oblivion Making more progress, though I've been sidetracked with other games. Think I'll start the main quest next time I play since I went to Anvil for athletics training to help with my speed stat. Glad I installed that training mod that carries over the unused trainings from earlier levels. I'd prefer unlimited training but I think past me couldn't find that kind of mod when i made this mod order last year. Had a funny incident with a guard stealing my """sparring partner""" from me on the way to Anvil. I'll also say, glad I didn't pick conjuration as a main skill. After getting 100 int I've been power leveling this skill and being able to throw a big friendly lizard at my foes instead of fighting myself is great for managing my skill increases, and helps to deal with the spongier enemies to boot. <Minecraft Down the rabbit hole again I go. playing on a server with friends and getting super into this fantasy modpack we're doing. Made a nice small starter home on a beach and making a bigger home near friends structures based off a temple complex and a shrine. Only thing I don't like about this mod pack (Cisco's fantasy or something) is that mobs have levels, and get higher levels the further from the spawn chunks you go. It's an annoying anti-synergy with Iron's Spells and Spellbooks as it makes searching for the structures much harder, since I can't do my early game wide, sweeping searches for such structures cuz the locals would've just killed me. I didn't go full degen and start digging for sex mods or full nerd and search for other super-complex new mechanics mods though, so you're on your own if doing that. Two things though, your saves WILL bloat no matter what you do, it's inevitable. You're also going to have to do a lot of searching and assembly yourself, I'm not aware of any popular mod lists and I find putting your own together to be much more fun.
