Bayo 3 has legitimate plot, presentation and gameplay problems but has more ambition and plays more uniquely than Bayo 2. If you can tolerate some jank I think there's legitimate good here that manages to step away from Bayo 1 more than 2 did with it's Demon Slave system and
having an actually good final boss for once.
Whatever gameplay spins it has it was overshadowed by the Bayoluka shitfit, Viola not landing and being misunderstood by everyone and gameplay switches becoming the climactic fight instead . Another problem for it's reception were comparisons to DMC5 that cornered the junkies that the Bayo series previously pandered to and it drew comparisons between them.
Though really it's closer to DMC4 in story role and development.
I liked the game as a whole quite a bit myself but it's not as easily digestible as Bayo 2 and doesn't reach the highs of Bayo 1 due to Kamiya no longer being in the driver's seat. There's a definite cheekiness that's missing from Bayo 1 & 2 and lacks the polish that should be there for a project that was developed for as long as it was.
