Last Epoch Season 2 Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 05:33:37 Id: ccafdb No. 1108991
10.5 more hours to go. What build are you playing?
>>1140870 Just update bro :))
I fucking ripped at 77 bros The super nemesis at the top of the tower woven echo got me
I like the new endgame
It's finally weekend so I have time to play this. Is it playable on SSF or char-SSF? In poe2 it was a miserable experience, but I just don't find trading for gear rewarding me with dopamine. I probably won't ever trade, but are there separate ladders? If not, is there a reason to chose that?
>>1144570 there's a faction for SSF that gives boosted droprates and more targetted farming
I had to refund this game a second time, almost 3 hours in. Thank God for Steam. People complain about PoE2 making you feel very weak compared to the threats you face (especially with the latest patch), but LE early game is the complete opposite. I saw red flag after red flag of the most brainless haphazard design choices imaginable. People think your decisions somehow matter and the game "respects your time" as opposed to PoE, but the actual truth is that nothing in this game has any weight or offers pushback against the player. It feels like Vampire Survivors with higher production values.
>>1145356 Vampire survivors is a great game. Also the game does get harder once you get to the endgame. The campaign is just super easy because every patch people would complain that it was too hard. They have basically tuned down the difficulty every patch on the campaign. Let me tell you, I would rather have baby mode campaign then grueling slog campaign that it once was.
>>1145407 Vampire Survivors is neat for what it is. The thing about more complex ARPGs is that if you present the player with tons of choices and systems, you better encourage people to actually interact with them. At some point, I found myself just spamming Hammer Throw as a Sentinel because other skills were outright inferior and just mauled everything in my path. I didn't even need or bother to allocate any passive points, I was just spamming that one ability, while Lunge (very shitty animation btw), Vengeance, Rive, etc. served absolutely no purpose. So it's not simply a matter of difficulty, it's making the experience and mechanics meaningless and redundant. >Also the game does get harder once you get to the endgame >I would rather have baby mode campaign then grueling slog campaign that it once was That doesn't sound good. If I have no reason to care about the campaign, I'd rather not just play the game at all. In PoE2, I feel a sense of satisfaction learning what each move can be used for and how they interact with each other right from the very start. I actually need and have to think about my gear and where I invest my skill points in. You can make a case against PoE2's current state, that the "combo" design philosophy eventually becomes almost unusable because it's too impractical or you simply can't see shit when you get swarmed by monsters in the endgame. But that could just mean the endgame should be balanced to accommodate that great foundation, not the other way around. Even if GGG fail to do that, at least the campaign is still an enjoyable experience.
>>1144570 this is the most ssf friendly arpg the crafting is deterministic and you get resources for it thrown at you in every map
>>1145613 As someone who beat all of the poe2 content at launch even the aspirational shit like uber pinnacle bosses on max difficulty. Endgame is largely the same as LE. Spam one skill and full screen clear large packs. The difference is almost exclusively in the campaign where you don't have access to the good skills and you pretty much have to face large groups of bulletsponge enemies. I want to see loot and want to see my character progressively become stronger. I don't want it to take 40 hours each time to do that. I have played poe since open beta back in 2011. Im tired of playing a campaign that is ultimately filler so any campaign that respects that is 100% a better option than poe2 where every moment to moment may feel tense or challenging. But, if I wanted a challenge moment to moment I would play something like dark souls where each enemy is a fun puzzle to solve. Not an arpg where i want to look like a crown prince who just plundered the jewel mines of south africa. Arpgs for me are wish fulfillment power seeking fantasies. The reason poe1 was successful was because it did that well. The campaign is more challenging than LE less challenging than poe2, but it can be done in 6-10 hours. Poe2 took me 40 hours the first time and 24 hours the second time and both times I had to do excessive over leveling in areas to get drops that would get me to progress. I wasnt progressing on my skill or how well i was timing my dodges. I was progressing solely because my numbers went higher. That shit ain't fun. Also don't try to come back at me with Im a bad gamer. Ive been top 10 percentile in every competitive game Ive ever played.
>>1146183 try gothic 1 and 2
>>1146183 >Also don't try to come back at me with Im a bad gamer I didn't accuse you of anything like that. You're not engaging with anything I said, and you're coming across as an extremely insecure fag when all I did was simply question the LE's core design and contrast it to PoE2. >Ive been top 10 percentile in every competitive game Ive ever played. Okay, bro. And you still think Dark Souls offers challenging gameplay where "each enemy is a fun puzzle to solve?" Are you just shitposting now or what?
The game feels a little too easy. I've made an Erasing Strike void knight build and everything just gets one shotted, even the bosses.
Yeah the new idols are a clean powercreep. They need to stomp the weawer item power a little

>>1146630 >playing brand of deception >i can get fucking 30% shock chance and an actual good second stat off a 2-slot idol >before i could only get 15% shock chance and a piddling amount of one single elemental resist Counterpoint: the weaver mod values need to be the fucking default values

Got the game, getting this on the main menu when my VPN is off. With VPN on I can create my character, but then I'm getting stuck on infinite login screen as I read they block VPNs. Is it something on my end or they haver server issues at the moment?
>>1154077 maybe check if there's a patch? i had the same issue try restarting steam
>>1145613 >Lunge screenwide movement skill. you want to be spamming it to progress fast >Rive if you had set up your hammer throw correctly you would be somewhat mana constrained which rive exists to restore >baby mode campaign just do the dungeons then since they also allow you to skip some story stuff >poe2 campagn ah you're a slurper. glad you have a game that's made for you then. have fun using whatever streamer guide next season bwo
>>1146312 Same poster different machine. All I was trying to do was not have an argument over GIT GUD. That was all I was trying to do. PoE2 is a tough game. It isn't challenging, tho. It isn't a fun challenge. It is agonizing it is boring. Moment to moment it is a boring game. Dark Souls moment to moment is fun and generally challenging. I'm talking in the broader aspect of Soulsborne games. Ya, going back to Dark Souls 1 right now is a super easy game. But, back in 2011 it was a pretty tough game until wikis and speedrunners showed off the broken parts of it that made it really easy. But, back on the topic of POE2 and LE; POE2 is ass it is not challenging in a fun. You can have fun struggling for 40, 80, 120 hours every reset to just get a fraction of the power and speed you would have in POE1 or even LE 10 hours into the game. I'm not saying shit like top 10 percentile to brag. I'm doing it as a frame of reference so you understand my complaints about POE2 and to say that I would rather play vampire survivors than POE2.
>streamers are playing poch >they have a good time THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE JOHN DO SOMETHING
>>1154122 >>1154077 Got it working. The game just hates VPNs more than I thought and split tunneling didn't do shit, had to switch protocol. Do you guys play on WASD? My character moves too fast so I can't get used to it.

man these are nice
>>1156417 Probably because you don't need to sweat the game as much as Poo2.
>>1154661 >All I was trying to do was not have an argument over GIT GUD You're the one who brought shit up like that in the first place. >I'm not saying shit like top 10 percentile to brag. I'm doing it as a frame of reference so you understand my complaints about POE2 and to say that I would rather play vampire survivors than POE2. It's irrelevant. Whether you're talking about competitive shooters, fighting games or even RTS, few of those skills carry over to a game like this. It's not purely about the moment to moment gameplay where you need sick reflexes and agility to pull a 360 no scope, you need to thoroughly explore the game's own specific systems, understand a ton of specific RPG abstractions and plan your build accordingly. The fact you mentioned competitive games just tells me you may have no clue what you're talking about. And I don't care what games you find boring or not either. My argument was that LE makes skills and mechanics largely unimportant for a big chunk, until you get to some point where those things finally matter. That's just objectively terrible design, I can't understand why anyone would rationalize that making a portion of the game braindead is somehow "respectful" to the player. At that point, just give me the option to skip straight to the endgame and let me ignore the shitty trivial campaign because there's nothing I'm going to learn from it. It's for the exact opposite reason that PoE is so interesting and unique. Unless you look up builds online, there's a fuck ton of mechanics you'll feel naturally compelled to explore on your own and take advantage of in order to progress. But if you're going for this awkward middle-ground where you have layers complexity, but for several hours your game plays like a glorified cookie clicker, then it's a waste of time. I'll either opt for an actual complex game that respects the player's intelligence and its own mechanics, or something far more simple and quicker to get into like Vampire Survivors. And that's not to say anything about D3 and 4 also being very decent alternatives if you're serious about LE being a good game...
this guy loves poe2 so much he dedicates all his time posting in the last epoch thread on 8chan.moe
little tip for falconeer players aerial assault distance is based on cursor placement so if you move your cursor outside of the game window for example you will go way farther
>>1145613 They fell for the same trap every online game since wow has made. They got tricked into thinking the journey doesn't matter. It's a sickness of the mind and we need a completely teardown and rebuilding of the system from the ground up. Believe it or not the game used to offer some decent challenge. Lagon in particular forced you to be awake to get past. But redditors cried and cried and cried and here we are where you can hold down left click with any ability and roll through the entire campaign and probably half of the monoliths until you have to even try. It's such a cancerous ideology and sets players up to fail and steals away what should be the most enjoyable part of the game.
What lenses should I be using?
>>1165432 double cost and double rewards and double the cost double the uses. They require level 7 and 8 in the faction to be used.
>>1111365 Are there any options to change his skin color?
>>1160895 I wanted to build and play a "combo-er" in PoE. At least 2 skills, one for single target DPS and another for AoE. But as much as I tried, the game felt like it was fighting and punishing me every step of the way for trying to diversify my skills in a synergistic way. One day I finally "beat" the game and found that it was basically a glorified slot machine. I was severely disillusioned and deleted everything. On a whim, I tried Last Epoch for no particular reason (I think it was because of the chad white druid) and went for the rogue, hoping it would finally let me fulfill my fantasy of being able to diversify my skills to fulfill certain use cases while still being synergistic and setting the other skills up. Bladedancer finally let me do that and I will always be grateful to Last Epoch for it.

>enemies have a chance to dodge >enemies have +30% endurance
I think the 50% of players playing the same thing is just the playerbase being sheep who copy the top streamer rather than a balance thing, happened in poe too.
It's kind of astounding how early access the game still feels despite all of the improvements. I keep seeing animation issues with the main character, the UI doesn't show monster health half the time and holding alt doesn't let you highlight inside of tooltips anymore, the new pickup radius is totally inconsistent and it doesn't work for anything but specific gear items on the ground which feels really bad, you still end up walking straight into NPCs and standing inside of them when you try to talk to them, the respec woman in the end of time doesn't work because the dialog box is broken, there are some enemies with completely broken cloth physics in act 9, I could go on but I'd fill the whole fucking character limit with shit like this. The balance is really bad too, it's worse than before. The campaign is even easier than 1.0, which feels fucking insane to say, and playing certain classes puts that on easy mode even by the standards of the easy mode campaign. I really, really hope that after Easter they sit down and just start patching this game properly to fix up all of the stupid minor issues they have, because if it wasn't for the lack of polish it would easily be a recommend for most people. Conceptually, and to some extent mechanically, the game is solid. It's just that it still feels like a beta even though it has been "officially released" for like a fucking year now. Anyway, I really do like season 2 despite all those complaints. This is what 1.0 should have been like.
>>1169608 >Marksman in top 3 Kind of feeling a bit contrarian and wanna play something else now.
