Oldschool Maplestory Anonymous 04/16/2025 (Wed) 22:04:37 Id: 174a2e No. 1103082
Official Old school Maplestory just got announced and it's being made by the ORIGINAL DEVELOPERS, get the FUCK in here https://youtu.be/DhK1b17ApgE?t=271
>>1109640 I haven't played an MMO since I was 15. It was around that time I realized everything was p2w, and real life sucked the magic out of it.
>>1143379 I'm aware there are a lot of grinders out there. When throne and liberty came out, I was on that all day while working as long as nothing got too neglected. That game requires a bit of effort, I could easily hold my footpedal down and afk some flat map while keeping track of the screen for a botcheck, all day. There's certainly nothing wrong with not being able to do that, there will be a ton of people who can't.
>>1143048 I somewhat agree, but honestly, most people even back in 2005 were also optimizing a lot. Everyone was using skill & stat builds back then, the skill building was even more autistic back then, where people would look up follow plans for every single level up. I know it won't be the same, but I've got some friends who also played MS back in the day and hope to reach at least 3rd job with them.
>>1143431 Botting is old meta now. You're going to get sussed out by trooncord patrols. Zoomers play legit + pay2win + buy grinding service when they log out to go to work/school.

>>1143497 The most people did back then was maybe remake a warrior or sin to be dexless after funding to maybe lvl 70-80 (highest lvls pre-orbis release) No one was multi boxing 12 mages on their inbuilt macro storage 20 button fightsticks like they do today. You will see streamers unapologetically do something like buy 100 ap resets to get enough dex to hit something 20 levels higher then reset back to 4 dex when they get enough levels. If you want to save your sanity get to 70 and quit until maple weapons come out otherwise you'll be competing against masters LoL streamers with 2k viewers buying thousands of gachapons
>>1143814 >until maple weapons come out I pray they either get nerfed or cut entirely. Like players in maple land have realized, they're just another bullshit gateway to degenerate builds and warps the gear progression entirely around themselves.
Some of you guys have a really weird and unhealthy relationship with maplestory. You're clearly ridiculously invested in parts of the game that literally nobody cares about. To most people, MS was just a chatroom. The entire game is designed so that you kill 3 monsters, run out of MP, and then sit on a chair chatting with your friends while it recovers. That's Maplestory. Not whatever weird shit you care about like *checks previous posts* "streamers having lots of resources" or "inflation" or... "mages"???? In no universe is anyone asking for classic MS because they want a game where poopsockers don't exist, the economy is good (lmao at the very idea) and all classes are equally good at farming. You and the wider playerbase have completely different expectations of this game. I thought the racial slur comment was especially funny, like the reason private servers die is because there's a massive and vitally important community of nomadic antisemites getting kicked out of one server after another.
>>1103082 They should update the game by putting in map-wide public voice chat. Chatrooms are outdated, everyone's used to VC. To accurately replicate the feeling of walking into the FM in 2005, you need to max out the user's headphones with incomprehensible screeching the moment they walk through the door.
So, what's the catch? I mean other than the potential lack of players, they're bound to do something that'll ruin everything right?
>>1145856 Instead of being the actual original game, it looks like it's a recreation of the original game inside of the modern maplestory client as a separate world you select. This means you have to download current maple to play it (like 50gb) and it might also mean some things aren't exactly like they used to be. From the trailer we can already see stuff like down jumping and being able to use ranged attacks at melee. But I guess the biggest catch would be how they want to monetize the server, whether they will introduce p2w items or let it purely be cosmetics driven.
>>1145263 >>1145397 you're in the absolute minority of MMO players, this is not 2005 anymore, there is nothing novel about a chat room. but i also don't get the idea of being obsessed with being top 100 or whatever when there isn't even a pvp or resource incitement for that. my only gripe with that is leeching, i think they should completely cut it off and make it an unviable leveling strategy.
>>1142639 Did it as a Sniper. Only got one level since, and it was off of Zakum. Getting to 130 off of Vikings was something else, but I have to acknowledge that my class was boosted to kill faster and they used a later iteration of the Vikings map with more sniping platforms.
>>1146423 getting asshurt about leeching is why nexon completely murdered any kind of party play(like LHC) and eventually instanced everything it is fundamentally impossible to create a system that incentivizes people playing together without also potentially enabling those who desire to to leech classic case of overmoderation ruining game mechanics, just ignore it
>>1147763 >just ignore it no, the most optimal way of playing the game being afk is retarded and not healthy for the game.
>>1142911 >twitch shilling in chat no we dont need that. even better if they blacklist it. dont want any streamer targeted ddos periods.
>>1145856 >So, what's the catch? I mean other than the potential lack of players, they're bound to do something that'll ruin everything right? its probably some monetized mobile like version of classic maplestory, many such titles come to mind that went that route of testing the waters through mobile classic first before bringing back a shit classic server
>>1146317 Also looks like everyone has higher than hp values in the vid. If their solution to hp washing is to just bump up everyone's hp growth, I'm totally cool with that. I'm tired of every server's """solution""" is to subject the player to some ridiculous time or meso sink for some bandaid work around to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. Everyone having more hp isn't going to "ruin" the game, nobody but idiots dies to alishar in the first place, and the world will keep turning.

let's face it, 99% of players are just going to speedrun as priests in order to rake all the modern ms rewards as soon as possible then bail the remaining 0.9% are going to be the royals/legends population who will have to forcefully move to classic ms because nexon wanting to monetize classic ms means they will sue the shit out of pservers, and they cannot win a financial attrition battle against a megacorp and the final 0.1% is the true amount of "old good new bad" nostalgiafreaks who will somehow come back/move from modern and manage to stick for longer than a week despite the realization that old ms actually sucked huge dick and nobody treats maplestory as a glorified chatroom anymore, especially now that discord exists
>>1148807 Training with your buds is fun, if you somehow like the Maple grind.
>>1148287 It's going to happen anyway. And it's going to be pure cancer just like it sounds. Streamers will be freely advertising their shit through smegas all day and night, therefore dividing the community by creating large 200+ person guilds that are just there to give them mesos and items and worship them. It already happened on a minor scale in Artale.
>>1148160 then don't complain when they ruin party play (again) maple has 'struggled' with this issue since its inception and nexon's answers have consistently driven the game into its current state as a single player grind fest with a a chat box attached
>>1145263 You just don't get it, people don't think like this anymore. If Nexon says there is a $50 starter package with a pet and gachapons literally everyone will buy it and call you a loser poorfag if you don't. No one is going to go FUCK NEXON THATS STRAIGHT PAY2WIN anymore. Consoomers won. Sloppa won. You will eat up Nexon classic slop and not complain about anything.
>>1150895 There are plenty of people that are proud to never touch world coin items to sell off for mesos.
>>1148807 Damn right I’m going to roll a priest, it’s a straight upgrade to wizard which I would have played anyway.
>>1151725 >selling world coins for mesos that's one of the reasons i dropped Artale around level 100 it was obvious people were getting ahead of me as they sold enough WC to buy 50+ atk claws(75-100mil) ,steelies (150mil) while I just had tobis and a 48 att 'rab
>>1153840 Artale had other frustrating aspects like star drop rates. I never found a damn star in that game ever though I spent an inordinate amount of time at Vikings. Making star drops so rare because you only need one was such a detriment. Assassins had a hard time self farming them (and it's only worth farming ilbis), and people in certain training spots didn't get the jackpot drop to cover potion costs or allow them to make a profit. Not only that, but stars became even cheaper than their OSMS counter parts. Tobis eventually became less than a mil while in OSMS they were hovering around a mil with so many tobis and ilbis in circulation because you only need a single star to upgrade. I heard China is getting their own Maplestory server called Blue Shell or Blue Snail or whatever, hopefully it curbs the amount of CN/TW people coming into a NA server, because those are the biggest pay to get ahead players. Even streamers frequently training with 24/7 snowflakes/flowers were bowing out to Asian players due to their spending habits. It really depends how much value you put on player ranking and gear, because it's more than just money since CN/TW top players account share as well. In the end people that spent minimal to no money get the last laugh knowing Artale was a fictional server on Maplestory Worlds and didn't go balls into it.
>>1158284 >CN/TW people coming into a NA server, because those are the biggest pay to get ahead players. unfortunately the westernized asians in Cali/Toronto that make up 80% of the current playerbase are the exact same. anyone can make $20/hr these days just driving uber or doordash and buy themselves a full week of grinding service on pixelmarket its even worse than account sharing as at least that is done legit, most times these service sellers just use macro/bots as well so there is absolutely no way of ever competing fairly in the race to 200 in classic hell i can already see people setting up deals over discord to sell NX for mesos without even needing an auction house to straight pay2win
another thing is the game is going to go up/down whenever nu-maple is having maintenance as well, basically resetting all the field bosses, FM, and hot spot maps and you will need to base your whole schedule around these downtimes...its going to suck ass...
>>1132223 Maybe so, but imagine the whispers I'll get from all the e-girls once I start dragon roaring in henny 1
>>1164923 there will be no cute girls to groom this time anon, this is actually the deadest of the classic delusions you may get a few terminally mentally challenged 30+ women, and instead of guys pretending to be girls to scam you out of mesos, you will get actual tranny freaks trying to have e-sex with you but not ironically
>>1103082 Let me know when Ragnarok Online Classic comes out. Happy for you guys though.
>>1143413 I refuse to play any game with any level of microtransaction, barring one (1): a subscription fee. Anything outside that, even "harmless" paid skins with "no mechanical advantage" (this is a lie in most cases, in Call of Duty, people who buy skins are proven to be placed in winners' queue). I will NEVER play a game with P2W of any kind whatsoever, even OSRS Bonds style membership.
>in the coming months >later half of 2025 So we can't even think of a release date before spring of 26 then. No point in getting hyped then
>>1167062 Just the fact that it won't be a separate client and we will need to download nu-maple already gives me bad vibes. We won't be able to truly start fresh as all the IGNs will already be taken. There is already a lot of hate for classic on the MapleStory subreddit. Nu-maplers are already asking to tie some kind of rewards from pre-bb to their nu-maple account. It's not going to go well.
>>1143569 just set an alarm if: <you stop moving for X seconds <a player enters the map <you die <you're moved to another map etc pixel bots can handle the stuff above, though it's easier to do if you can read memory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l3FvedlrKo >>1167498 those are all sus behaviors if any troons come to record you
