The Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- Anonymous 04/15/2025 (Tue) 16:55:41 Id: 8dc8dc No. 1090075
8 days until release. You did preorder, right? You wouldn't want Kodaka to do something drastic.
>>1154535 KoDORKa is so done
>>1155064 Don't say that. I believe this game will be the game of the year. No game will surpass this masterpiece.
>>1154399 Oh I know the soundtrack will be good. My problem with Rain Code is that some segments like Reasoning Death Match get interrupted a lot, so you never get the chance to hear the full song in-game
>>1155105 I hope you're right. I certainly wouldn't mind having a masterpiece to play.
>>1155008 I see, either way I'm looking forward to it. If it's even half as packed as it sounds, it seems to hit a weird benchmark that goes beyond the usual gameplay + VN style stuff. I can only assume the 100 endings includes shit like variations on who lives in some neutral route shit, cause 100 actually distinct endings sounds absurd in terms of effort.

>>1155165 >100 actually distinct endings This is exactly how they're advertising it thoughbeit. It's part of the reason why they needed so many different writers.
>>1155300 I'm still skeptical. It's already difficult enough for a handful of writers to write 2 or 3 coherent endings to a large-scale videogame, let alone a hundred. They'd need several dozen skilled writers and even then it'd be a herculean amount of effort to make all the endings make sense and keep everyone's characterization consistent between routes.
>>1155300 I can expect some level of difference, but "distinct "is the keyword here. I don't see how they could actually write super varied endings, 100 of them, based on routes. It also sounds like a fucking nightmare to replay through just to check variations.
>>1155927 Get ready for 1000 hour save file if you want true 100%
I honestly thought it would have leaked by now
>>1157443 switch leaks don't happen often unless the franchise is stupid popular, i.e. pokemon, mario, metroid, zelda. and when they do it's usually only 1 or 2 days before release.

>>1157443 I hoped we'd get lucky with a leak but I guess not. But there's still 3 days, so I'd be happy if it dropped anytime before release at this point
>>1157555 >>1157829 Usually any game featured on /v/ for switch gets leaked due to some anon who works as a distributor. But alas.

>I don't care what happens to the others... As long as I survive...! >What's with this guy?

Does anyone think this is actually going to be good?
>>1161376 You have doubts? Don't get cold feet now. I honestly think (if everything promised is true) this game has the potential to surpass Danganronpa. And I think since Kodaka took out that loan for this he's actually putting a lot of effort into it, because he needs it to sell well. So I have hope.
>>1161376 It can't be any worse than Danganronpa got after 2, so at worst it'll be mediocre
(206.12 KB 1571x1195 Go5950haMAArabS.jpg)

>>1161376 I'm trying to curb my expectations. But it'll certainly be better than DR. As long as it's fun and has a good story then I wouldn't care if it's not GOTY material (RPG of the Year, maybe?)
>>1146823 The mystery dungeon is a really poor replacement for the class trial. It gives the cases a visual element which class trials didn’t have — but it’s inferior in all other ways. In a class trial the entire cast is interacting; in the mystery dungeons only a few of the cast is involved. Furthermore, exposing the murder’s inner motivation was a huge part of their character development in the class trial but which gets mostly glossed over in the mystery dungeons because the murderer is represented by an unintelligent 3rd party mystical force and completing the dungeon means killing the murder in real life so there’s never that exposition all the other games had.
>>1161376 I fear it won’t be good and the REASON why Kodaka has been doomposting begging for sales is because he KNOWS that it’s bad. I don’t believe he ACTUALLY put himself into bankruptcy-level debt over this one game, but it’s still a fact that if he thought it was a good game he would be confident in its success. The fact that he’s NOT confident in the game’s success is exactly why it makes me think he knows that it’s not his best work to put it mildly. You think of the competency crisis in game development as a Western phenomena, but it’s probably a world-wide issue. Depending on the cause of it of course. If it’s just woke culture taking over and hiring only low-IQ talentless losers then maybe Japan has avoided it at least for now. But, I’m afraid that the competency crisis is hitting everywhere and everything for whatever reason (falling IQs, unhealthy diets, microplastics / environmental toxins, etc). Or maybe the competency crisis has nothing to do with this game and it’s just a failed attempt to make a game using AI which could explain why it seems so much lower quality than Kodaka’s other recent games.
>>1161376 Think? we have a 5 hours demo. I already know it's gonna be offensively mid at best.
>>1163381 It's a new IP, that carries risk no matter the name, and it's not like he is a guaranteed super seller like some of the actually well known stuff.
>>1163878 To be fair though. I don't remember Rain Code, or Tribe Nine getting pushed this hard. Kodaka is doing everything he can to get the word about HL out there.
>>1163983 >Rain Code It's a Spike Chunsoft game, he doesn't own it like HL. >Tribe Nine Iirc they don't own it completely either. HL is the first original project from his company that they own 100%.
>>1164083 That's fair. Kodaka has to advertise HL himself.
>>1163381 >if he were confident the game is good, he wouldn't bother advertising it! I don't think that tracks
>>1161376 I'm optimistic, but I'm going in with the understanding that he's probably talking how of his ass about variations.
>>1163381 I think he's not confident because most of his projects aren't that successful. This is also his most ambitious game ever if even 10% of what has been said about the game is true, so it's a natural thing to talk about. But also, a lot of this "If this game fails, I'll retire!" is hype talk. It's not some idea of [modern issue] you're hyperfixated on, we can see precisely why Kodaka would think the game would fail. >Objectively the largest post-SpiChun project he has worked on >Possibly the largest project he has EVER worked on >Absurd amount of planning and things taken into consideration for the game >Lackluster commercial reception to his post-DR works like WEC and RC These are key factors that cause this worry. Not the idea that Kodaka is surrounded by a billion Indians or is using AI to make his game.
Do you you guys have any ideas about some of the mysteries the game showed in the demo so far? Just curious about what others think. >Mascot being seemingly dead >Another language entirely for the generals on the enemy side >The secret they're guarding >Why does it have to be a school theme (besides meta reasons, since the characters themselves wonder about it) >Ghost? dude trying to talk to MC What comes to mind for me without thinking too much on it is around >The mascot is in fact dead, and can't be replaced by someone who just acts the same, but can be revived later, like the others, since his parts don't decay >The language barrier is gonna turn out to be some language that was used by people from some other nation, or was just the previous universal language before everything went to shit >It's probably some type of item that allows for time rewind, or some parallel world hopping stuff >No idea why they need to follow some school theming, but I think it relates to the broken down school you run into at the start >Ghost just makes me think that those who fully served don't just go home, or they're from those that died as they did their duty, and are trying to warn those who can see them of the bullshit going on There's also some allusions to VR type stuff going on, and potentially that their lives in safety were just illusions done by machines I guess.
>>1166654 >Mascot being seemingly dead He's gonna get revived or replaced, with some new route making him live. >Another language entirely for the generals on the enemy side I feel like it's them trying to hide what the generals really are. >The secret they're guarding Something with time. >Why does it have to be a school theme (besides meta reasons, since the characters themselves wonder about it) Marketing. >Ghost? dude trying to talk to MC I thought it was the sickly guy. Personally I think he killed the mascot.
>>1166654 I don't really have a lot of theories but >Mascot being seemingly dead My idea is that after the S2L merge Nigou will bring him back, either with a Revive-O-Matic specifically designed for him or he'll have a spare on demand. They are described as robots so wouldn't be surprising if Nigou could just upload Sirei's consciousness into a new body >Another language entirely for the generals on the enemy side People have actually been able to translate some of the commanderspeak so it could be they're speaking Japanese but it's not coming out correctly for whatever reason >Why does it have to be a school theme I'd imagine it's a misguided attempt to try and have the LDA in a sort of familiar environment Not sure what to make of the secret hidden in the academy or the ghostboy
>>1166654 You forgot about the higher-ups that Sirei talks about. There's also that mystery.

>>1163381 >Advertising your game is doomposting. >Game is 213# place on Steam and will get lower as it hits the home stretch >Sakurai from Nintendo advertised The Hundred Line >Yoko Taro Advertised The Hundred Line At this point I would not be surprised if it's a success day one, but what will matter the most is if The Hundred Line ends up capturing the Danganronpa feeling throughout, which it should considering the high reviews for the Demo. After that it's smooth sailing because Kodaka will be able to not only say he made Danganronpa, and Rain Code, but also The Hundred Line, and was apart of Tribe Nine. Helping his status become bigger than usual and proving it's still possible to make hits even after a trilogy series.

Kako finding the Switch leak in two days
>>1166479 I think it's an ego thing, he knows he relies entirely on Danganronpa formula, literally most people will play this because it looks, sounds, and has a similar concept as Danganronpa >But the gameplay Danganronpa middle gameplay had a lot of freedom to make it whatever you want. You had different kind of explorations in the games, it could have been a srpg too if it wanted too
