For Minecraft discussion, builds, pictures, videos, and YouTube. >Frequently Asked Stupid Questions Q: I stopped playing months ago, what's new in Minecraft? A: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Version_history Q: What launcher should I use? A: PolyMC is the current flavor of multiMC fork. Q: How do I install mods? A: Download the Fabric or Forge modloaders, install for the version you want, and launch the game to generate the necessary files. then go through Curse's awful shitty search system until you find a mod you want, download it, and put it in your new mods folder in the minecraft directory. Check the mod's curse page for more specific installation requirements and dependencies. >Official stuff: * Website - http://minecraft.net * Forums - http://minecraftforum.net * Mojang - http://mojang.com * Wiki - http://minecraft.gamepedia.com >Launchers: * Prism (Regularly updated general purpose launcher) - https://prismlauncher.org/ * PollyMC (Pirate friendly fork of Prism) - https://github.com/fn2006/PollyMC * PonyMC (Certified clown launcher) - https://www.reddit.com/r/PolyMCLauncher/ >Mod downloads and wikis: * Curseforge (the biggest mod/texturepack/resources repository) - https://minecraft.curseforge.com/ * Feed the Beast (another big repository) - http://feed-the-beast.com * FTB wiki (the biggest mod wiki) - https://ftbwiki.org/Feed_The_Beast_Wiki * The other ftb wiki (slightly less useful than the first) - https://ftb.gamepedia.com/ * Japan forum (has some hidden gems, hope you speak 日本語) - https://forum.civa.jp * MCModBrowser - https://mcmodbrowser.neocities.org >Modding Tools and Documentation: * Current Forge docs (1.15/1.16) - https://mcforge.readthedocs.io * Forge docs GitHub archive (1.12-1.16) - https://github.com/MinecraftForge/Documentation * Forge docs GitHub archive (1.7) - https://skmedix.github.io/ForgeJavaDocs/javadoc/forge/1.7.10-10.13.4.1614/ * Fabric mod loader (1.14+) - https://fabricmc.net/ * Example mods (1.8-1.15) - https://github.com/TheGreyGhost/MinecraftByExample * McJty tutorials (1.10/1.12/1.14) - https://wiki.mcjty.eu/modding/index.php?title=Main_Page * Open source mods list - https://github.com/agaricusb/ForgeMod/wiki/List-of-Open-Source-Forge-Mods * A bunch of docs about mod development for 1.7 - https://gtnh.miraheze.org/wiki/Development * A Guide for hosting your own server for (((free))) [(((free))) means paying with your personal info :^)] - https://blogs.oracle.com/developers/post/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-really-powerful-free-minecraft-server-in-the-cloud >Old mod links (you might find good stuff in here, but it's best to stick to curseforge for general purpose searches): * Mod list - http://bot.notenoughmods.com * Another mod list - http://modlist.mcf.li * Resource links - http://minecraftforum.net/forum/41- * Beta repository - https://archive.org/details/minecraftbeta1.7.3modarchive
>>1137858 Create and create addons mostly. Otherwise it's leaning more towards minimalism than kitchen sink. This is because of the custom texture work done by TJF who is the admin - adding more mods means more work for him to make the blocks fit in. We've been having a lot of fun with Supplementaries actually, great mod, lots of comfy little features. Same with Farmer's Delight and Amendments.
>>1152834 Oh if anybody is not running Better Days, what are you doing with your life. Night time every 10 minutes? What the fuck was Notch thinking? Our day/night cycle is extended to 1 hour and man it's a lot nicer. At night, time will speed up depending on the percentage of players sleeping. So if you're just by yourself the night is skipped instantly like in vanilla, else it takes a bit and the non-sleeping players can see the stars speeding up. It's great. Also encourages making an actual house with bedroom to go to, rather than just carrying a bed with you at all times.
>>1130213 consider me an absolute moron. What are some optimization mods you'd recommend? I was checking out the "Vanilla Perfected" modpack on Curseforge and really enjoyed what I saw there
Thoughts on Yggdrasil? https://modrinth.com/datapack/yggdrasil-structure looks like this will be my final addition and can finally start playing.
I just realized in the Minecraft movie they probably gave the girl her little "woah I'm super good at fighting" thing after watching girls play minecraft and spending the whole time fighting mobs unable to build shelters correctly
>>1153985 Big structure mods make worldgen involving said structures laggy for me. Also if you've got other mods the lootgen could be fucked. Lootgen in Minecraft is a bit fucked in general though.
>>1152942 Night should be sped up if it's just one person too. What's the point of extending the day/night cycle in the first place if you're just going to skip the night anyway?
In GTNH, I've completed every single stone age quest, but I don't have the little green check mark in the quest tab. I have the check mark for the "Getting Started" portion. I don't see any other quests in the stone age and I claimed all the rewards. Do I need to clear "Tips & Tricks" before it will give me my OCD check mark?
>>1158079 Very likely, yes you do. Good luck with 100% GTNH quest lines though.
>>1158189 Is that just how questbook works? If that's true, then it won't green until like HV or something. Ah well.

What is your go to generation method? Standard? Large Biomes? Amplified?
>>1167669 I have board loyalty. Also, if 8chanmoe gets bigger and 4chan stays down then it might be worth settling early
>>1167837 >>1167973 Yeah, currently stuck in 1.20.1 or 1.18.2. It looks interesting though. Is it super big ala like When Dungeons Arise mod?

I won't stop shilling Nature's Spirit, despite the troon stuff. It just blows all the other biome mods out of the water in terms of quality and aesthetics.
since /mmcg/ is merged with /mcg/ ,maybe we can finally recommend a modpack everytime someone comes to the thread and asks
>>1170110 like Vault Hunters?
Has anyone here tried using Fjord Launcher Unlocked with Neoforge and an unregistered account? Have used PollyMC with regular Forge but most rendering distance/optimization mods do not support beyond 1.20.
