First, the AI Porn Bans and loli Beginning on January 1st, several countries and US States had laws go into effect concerning AI generated porn. Think like the law currently being debated in Texas, except there's already 12 States that passed it, and many, many countries. This snuck up on us, as it wasn't widely reported in any free-speech channels and we never saw much protest or other dust kicked up that would draw attention to it. Most of these laws are surface aimed at Deepfake images used for harassment purposes, but several, like the one in Texas, also pose a serious threat to the existence of *any and all* fictional content that so much as resembles a minor. The retardation that we saw years ago in Australia went International, and nobody was the wiser until it was already in effect all over. That is why we temporarily lost the .se domain. The host contacted us and and notified us that to comply with Norway's version of the law they couldn't service us any longer. After four very comfy years. To their credit, they were nice about it and communicated with us. It was then when we went in search of replacements that we discovered how widespread the new 2025 laws really are, and it shocked us. tl;dr a bunch of feel-good bans on AI art got passed around the world 2 months ago, and several are also written to ban loli art in places where it was previously legal. >Resolution: We do have a new server for .se coming online. The reason why PNG files and GIFs are disabled at the moment is because he spent time creating animated images that contained CP buried several seconds deep in the animation frames, and then seeded them in dead threads and slow boards all around the site. He then waited several hours before linking those files in Esther-type reports to the hosts and registrars. We've removed them immediately each time but it still poses a risk. Its an ongoing battle and we're looking into a better technical solution. IN THE MEANTIME, DON'T HESITATE TO GLOBALLY REPORT ANY UNUSUAL FILES. You guys are very good about reporting that shit when you stumble across it, and always have been. But this faggot is hiding the shit so that it won't be noticed even on a cursory check by a user or even a mod. Anyone whos bored and wants to help out can poke around old threads across the site and just see if you bump into one. Report it and we'll take care of it immediately. But if we stay this large for a year shit will fill up. Anyway, updates. Today we officially hit an all time peak of 24000 concurrent users, 14,000 active posters, literally over 9000 posts per hour, and more than half a million lurker hits. Sweet mother of fuck. We started capping out on the frontend network again this evening which is why thread updates began to gently break, so I spun up yet another network node and plugged it in. Now we're comfy, and another 3000-4000 people could show up before it starts stressing things again. WELCOME TO 8CHAN!
