Damn, I struggle to keep up with that much these days. At this point it is basically NJPW, NOAH, Rev Pro, and some idea of what is going on in ROH, WWE in general, STARDOM, PROGRESS, and my local feds.
I haven't been able to enjoy
(((real))) combat sports as much since having the kayfabe of them laid out to me very plain by several people, including a former national heavyweight boxing champion, a couple of amateur shoot fighters who spent some time in the pro world, and anecdotally from pro wrestling mates who've worked in Japan. The tl;dr is that amateur stuff is almost always legit, and with the blows being a shoot you can have things go against plans easily, but the more money involved in the sport (especially in the gambling for the sport), the more it becomes a work. I still enjoy watching the occasional local fight, but I just can't follow "shoot" stuff at the pro level anymore.
