it could have worked for sure, but I'm afraid Gura always had a lot of trouble speaking up her mind. Instead of doing something about it, she just shuts down and represses all that frustation inside. There are many clips of her talking about it. The one about the perms was brutal. Her talking about how she was able to speak up and ask for all these perms, only to be laughed at by management. I don't think it was a laugh of "we can't do that", but a much worse "oh, now you decide to speak up?". It came out as a surprise for them, as they weren't expecting her to change, ever. That alone might have been one of the interaction that made her completely shut down, her mind gobling game is very strong at that.
