KCD was really good, shame about the sequel.

I think there are a lot of great niche games. But the industry is oversaturated with product, so to find the stuff that clicks with you it requires a lot of effort on your part. I didn't have to search for things as much when I was younger.

You're no longer the target audience. Games changed to appeal to a newer generation, so you either stay behind, adapt or move on.

At the end of the day there are still good games being released on a monthly basis but the market is so big now it's hard to know they even exist. If you don't keep your pulse on the trigger on indie games then its easy to think that the market is much smaller than it actually is. Not to mention all the smaller titles you can find on Itchio and Newgrounds

It's very telling that many of the best games of the past decade are just remakes of older games.

I play old games mostly. What else is there to do? A job and money won't make me happy
