As a kid i started off with a larger than average (not by much) playstation layout and button controller that had mouse function (r stick acted as mouse cursor) and it could connect to OG Xbox and Ps2 too, through their own connection/ports. Yes, it ended in 3 different cable, USB for PC and the PS2 and Xbox connectors. Sadly i lost it overtime.
Next time things happened but i could buy Genesis p65. This too was playstation style layout as that was the kind i got used to so far. The only downside was the aiming in fps was a big rough but like it's hella cheap so i expected nothing less. Easy to turn off and on turbo was very good as i didn't want to wear off the O button for God of war execution moves.
Then i got a Gamesir G8 USB C because sometimes i end up playing on phone through emulators. I got used to Xbox layout but Playstation is still my favorite.
Recently i got gamesir tarantula pro with dock because it was 60-70% off. I like it, it has bit too many buttons, but i set up the top triangle where left is turbo O and right is turbo X. The gimmick of the the button layout changing is fun. If like p65 it can survive 10 years or at least 5, i probably just stick with it and look out for a new one, when this one dies. I kinda find it weird that Gyro is really only active for games, when in switch pro mode, but aside of that i don't have any issue. I would have loved it, if the cable was 2 meter long, but i think i got a phone cable around the house, i will try with that later.
