I just want to say I think if the idea for V was to make something "timely" the way Nocturne was about Y2K end of the world mentality I think they did a good job. The MC is a teenager facing a lot of modern day issues. He doesn't understand where he belongs and Yoko even brings up that up. If you feel like you are an outsider it's because this world failed you. In Japanese society, everyone is pretty much expected to go down the path of school then university, you get married, expected to have children, etc. The MC of V rejects all that. He hates school and is a delinquent. The suit in his room heavily implies he is applying for a job meaning he's skipping university all together which is any adult would go "Why are you wasting your life???" and things like that. Not to mention the cross dressing in the JP relic descriptions among other things. He screams depressed teenager with no identity and no desire to even search for it because he's given up. I think Yamai's idea of creating a game with modern social problems hit the nail on the head. I also like how Aogami swoops in and gives him a purpose he never had before.
