>and incredibly basic until 500 brains
bullshit. you get attack at 100 brains, and moderate (2 attacks) at 200 brains. that's good enough to get you through a good chunk of the game. at 300 you get distance which lets you can choose exactly when to attack (iirc it will hold off from attacking with it active)
>after encountering the costume
your expectations are set too high. most braindead casualshitters drop the game before unlocking portapotties (gear savanna great canyon), if not as early as before autopilots (betamon+coelamon). telling them why they got the slug and that it can be turned around and made into a late-game monster in 3.3 days (or that you can train it to death (unlock poop techs)) would help them. I mean, it'd spoil the game, but at the same time retards don't like experimenting and just want to follow brainded kitchen recipes
>I don't think any of them increase the gains from battles though
it's not just that. it's how battles are counted. the way the game is set up, battling anything stronger than modokibetamon is a waste (techs via brains training (you don't need to have seen them to learn them), bits are earned via fishing or mojyamon trade shenanigans, stats are gained via the gym)
