not him but in most anime games it's pretty rare to block for more than like 5 seconds, defence is usually very active and either you make the right calls and get out or you fucked up and got hit but either way you did something and aren't blocking any more. Compare Xrd blitz or +r Slashback to Shield, and that's just one mechanic, everything from the movement to the design of the characters to the universal mechanics like reverse beat promote sitting and farming grd with shield until you can CS and take your turn safely, and offence is mostly based around trying to punish that rather than trying to actually open them up.
Uni2 is a bit, or maybe a lot, less like this than the older ones because of the nerfed OSs and added roll thing but it's still the most down back heavy anime fighter I've ever played. Even the movement is mostly holding down back after tapping the dash macro.
for the record I like the game quite a bit, but I do find it kinda stifling sometimes compared to the older GGs or AACC. Oh also I hate SMP.
