Install the desktop version in a VM, lock the VM behind seven proxies and only write the bare minimum on it, use as plain and generic English as possible. Or alternatively complain to the factulty, citing the numerous privacy-invasive problems. Or pick another class. Or pick another school. >so they can make announcements and distribute files and such I really don't get it. Email has existed for decades now and it has been perfectly adequate. Yes, it is a minimally more inconvenient than typing "lol xD" and pressing a button, but that's a good thing for class.

I just an an even better idea, it might just work in our clow world timeline: try to calmly explain that you have serious problems with WhatsApp and similar messaging systems, that they cause you anxiety and trigger your internet addiction. Explain how your grades and your participation in class would suffer from the constant notification buzzing. Propose email as an alternative which does not trigger you, but could serve all needs for annoucements and file sharing. Hide your power level and appeal to the current year. Use clown world to fight clown world.

I was in a similar situation, i just told my superior who was in charge of forwarding information that internet on my phone doesn't work and without any discussion he began using e-mail or phone calls, just as he was supposed to.

Honestly if you're at uni, then prepare to get fucked in the ass in even worse ways than whatsapp. But yeah, try what >>1910 said and if that doesn't work then setting up a Matrix homeserver with a bridge for whatever you need is the next best thing, since the bridges usually work on the API/message broker levels, you'll only be giving your messages & presence (and even that can be disabled in the config iirc) to zuck, no unrelated activity tracking etc.
