Web Browsers Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 15:02:18 No. 17789
Which one is the best, objectively? Each one has some lame downside. Will Ladybird save us?
>>17789 I like Mullvad browser but people say it leaves a unique fingerprint because no one uses it
>>17789 brave is so shit but i have yet to find something retard friendly thats better. i have to use edgy to get directv to work
>>17789 edge lol
Fuck it's so easy to get along with people who do things differently from me without the usual few starting stupid wars about stupid things, why did shills do that anons?
>>17789 LibreWolf or Mullvad Browser. Maybe Brave too. >>17794 Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Mullvad Browser would do anything to give itself away as "Mullvad" browser. I imagine it would just mimic Firefox no?
i use firefox and as long as it has tree style tabs and ublock origin i have no intention of switching to something else because everything else is inferior
>>17800 Sorry am codelet, I always assumed this to be the case but shill to signal ratio on 4chan /g/ was too thick to cut through, I do know that youtube doesn't know who the fuck I am when I watch videos there instead of freetube, and websites can't seem to geolocate me with any degree of accuracy
>>17789 For me it's Floorp. The adjustments made compared to Firefox are good for me personally, and being disconnected from Mozilla's increasingly large pool of problems while still using their technology is nice.
Zen Browser privacy speed side tabs open sores customizable but works out of the box makes Trannizilla and Cabbalium users alike mad

>a browser thread LibreWolf or Mullvad if you like Firefox, Ungoogled Chromium if you like Chromium, that's really all you need.
>>17794 It will almost completely match Tor Browser's fingerprint once TB adds uBlock Origin in 15.0, so that will be a huge help. >>17800 >Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Mullvad Browser would do anything to give itself away as "Mullvad" browser. I imagine it would just mimic Firefox no? You don't understand how fingerprinting works. Every individual browser on every computer has a unique fingerprint. Mullvad Browser and Tor Browser try to make all of their users have the same fingerprint (not totally possible since you can't hide your OS), but you need a crowd so that you don't stand out. Otherwise, you stand out even more, because you look like you're TRYING to hide while being in an obvious disguise. Please read Arkenfox's wiki and read comments from Thorin in the issues section for more information about fingerprinting. https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js/wiki
I've been pleased with IceCat since switching, but unfortunately 8chan doesn't seem to like it so I'm using LibreWolf to post here.
>just works <chromium or librewolf >independence <palemoon The rest are memes. Ladybird will be based though.
>>17837 >Ladybird will be based though. How?
I used qute browser for a bit and enjoyed it, slow but very nice vim-like keybindings and pretty customizable. It's not going to replace whatever browser you are using right now tho.
Brave has gotten so good. So far it's been everything Firefox used to be for me.
>>17863 Either anon is from the future or he has no idea, thinking ladybird is gonna cure cancer.
>>17863 Simply because it's a truly independent browser with the potential to break Google's monopoly.
LibreWolf and Brave are the only contenders at the moment.
>>17817 i tried out Zen for a little and at first it was pretty nice, but it seemed to break something after every update they push got boring pretty fast...
>>17908 >with the potential to break Google's monopoly. Hoping to be wrong with this, but this sounds fucking delusional, unfortunately. Even lulzilla couldn't come out on top after IE exploded, Chrome wiped them down to 3%. Best case scenario is probably a niche but dedicated user base that keeps it afloat as a decent third option.
>>17959 It's literally being backed by one of the founders of Github for that sole purpose. And I didn't say it will just that it has potential.
>>17789 I use librewolf. I tried some others like floorp and zen, and while they are impressive I just didn't feel as comfortable in them and didn't use their new features enough to justify using them. Maybe it's just baby duck syndrome I dunno, but I'm sticking with the big gay blue wolf.
Firefox is at the moment the best option worth supporting >what about Librewolf or Mullvad's browser or Icecat, or etc.. any of those forks basically depend on Firefox and Mozilla to do the heavy development lifting so to speak. They're customization. That's fine, but you need to be invested in the success of Firefox for any of those others to have a real future. Firefox is the primary bastion against Google basically owning the web - and fucking off and going to histrionics to some fork AND THEN BITCHING ABOUT FIREFOX ITSELF for inane shit like easy to disable FOSS, transparent, telemetry, isn't going to help in the long run. This doesn't mean Mozilla or Firefox shouldn't be critiqued but shit realize what we're up against here. Ever since the Chrome/ium surge they're not just one major browser but basically have de facto control of the web standards and usage. The more Firefox users (no matter if they're using a fork or some kind or arkenfox or some custom shit of their own) the better to ensure that web dev isn't done only with interest in having Chrome/ium or Blink rendering tested.
>>18013 95% of firefox's ills are due to it's retarded management team. People would be more forgiving of it if it wasn't helmed by a bunch of smug faggots paying themselves millions from their "non profit" organization. Also firefox is largely funded by google. I'm not saying it's not the better option, but it's the lesser of two evils and I'm not gonna start sucking it off just because chrome is cancer.
>>18015 That intransigence only empowers Google/Chrome cancer, sadly. THere's a big difference between critiquing Firefox's development (and there are legitimate things to do there) vs giving Chrome et al a victory by getting upset about the Mozilla Foundation for unrelated stuff and allowing that to undermine Firefox use. Mozilla has always had a non-profit foundation and that's one of the reasons they're able to do Firefox's development as they were. Mozilla's nonprofit wing used to do a lot of good shit like backing up the EFF, going up against MAFIAA back in the day, fighting SOPA/PIPA etc.. Getting everyone salty over hatred for some exec's op-ed blog post or whatever (no matter how shitty it was) will only harm the FOSS projects under its aegis and give more power to Google and the others in the surveillance capitalism world. You can think its shitty the foundation did something (while understanding that the foundation is supposed to do shit besides just software development) without throwing the baby out with the bath water. >Funded by Google Sure, they get a certain amount of cash from shit like search engine default inclusion, but if we really want them to have independent funding then there needs to be an "acceptable" alternative. So far nearly any opportunity to monetize at all, even shit like partnering with Mullvad (debatedly one of the best major VPN providers from a privacy/security standpoint etc) or Relay, or easily disabled "sponsored" shit marked plainly, or trying to make less shitty (again optional) ad structures...all get the exact same about of REEEEEEEEEEE, then what they fuck are they going to go except get run over by FAGMAN level companies with huge profiteering wallets? However if people who are going to freak out about every little thing as though its a betrayal how are they supposed to fund this reliably so if Google (or someone else) stops paying them a lot of cash for search engine default install or whatever, they can still continue development properly?
>>17794 Well, I'm using it right now, so that makes at least two of us. :)
>>18013 Totally agree. >>18015 Also totally agree.
>>18070 I mean I agree too but >choose between poo and poo but it's everywhere It almost feels like controlled opposition at this point
Any browser that lets you use ublock / adnauseam is best.
>>18082 >It almost feels like controlled opposition at this point I mean, it is.
i would have stopped using apps if there were one single decent mobile browser
Browsers aren't that bad, they're generally pretty good. The problem is who controls them. Almost nobody complains that Linux is dominant for servers because it works well, and more importantly, is controlled by a variety of interests. If Chromium were taken over by a bunch of companies with varying interests, there wouldn't be as many concerns.
>>17817 Can confirm, happy Zen user
What is /t/'s opinion of Vivaldi?
librewolf uses 1GB less memory from source than vs binary how much more optimized is ungoogled-chromium compiled from source?
What is the most ram efficient browser? I only have 2gb of ram
>>18013 this is why i have firefox installed but honestly these days mozilla is so gay (not the good kind) that im not sure it even matters anymore. google won.
>>17794 You shouldn't be using it unless you're behind a VPN, ideally Mullvad or one that uses their servers. Otherwise there's no point if you want to avoid leaving your own unique fingerprint.
>>18353 Why? It has pretty good privacy on its own no?
>>17789 >Which one is the best, objectively? libre.
>>18355 Yes but the point is to be like the TOR browser, aka everybody is in a swarm and looks the same, but with VPN's.
>>18357 Yeah but why should I trust a public vpn service like mullvad? I am content with the level of privacy mullvad offers on its own, mostly
>>18289 new here. why archive?
