We can use this board while 4chan is dead. You can drop here any questions you have and any suggestions you want for the board.
Edited last time by firetruckdemon on 04/18/2025 (Fri) 01:41:18.
4cuck's soul was weighed down by gravity. Is this the real /m/ where newtypes can be independent?
No namefag drama horseshit would be a good place to start.
>>25 What's the thread post limit here? What about the file limit (I think /m/ had it at 150?)?
there wasn't really much I want from 4cucks. But I do miss /acg/
>>41 I set the bump limit to 500 replies, I don't think there's a file limit.
sick. can't think of much i'd request. anyone have some old /m/ screencaps they want to share?
>>45 Thanks! >>52 Yeah. I'll make a thread.
I was starting to wonder if there even is any other substantial place for mecha discussion. Everything else seems to be some ancient forum with 6 posts a year or a handful of dedicated battletech boards. /m/ is slow but it's much faster than anywhere else and actually discusses mechs as a broad topic. X is fantastic for modelling and news and whatever you get directly from the japanese side of things, but not great for discussion.
Thanks for reopening this. It seemed like we were scattered around to random altchans. Despite the many, many ways 4/m/ sucked ass, it was the best place for mecha and toku discussion.
>>26 t. Duel
>>82 I checked mechatalk out earlier and dipped because the first page for their boards have fresh, current topics up like >Armored Core 6 details just leaked >Toriyama Akira has passed away
(62.32 KB 1115x402 mt.jpg)

>>104 It doesn't look that bad.
>>102 The way the boards are listed here is really chaotic. https://8chan.moe/boards.js I doubt many people will find /m/ just from browsing 8chan.
>>111 >dark duel Oh god I didn't think it could get any worse.
>>111 >Dark Duel You’re right, it’s not that bad, it’s WORSE
>>129 Why be mad? At least it's easy to filter him.
>>103 >Not wanting namefag drama = duel You okay?
>>122 They will have to look for it like some of us did, If that is much of an issue just post the link in the /m/ desuarchive or any other mecha refugee threads in other boards like some of us did, is not like we are going to get the most activity quickly considering it was an slow board by comparison anyway.
(79.40 KB 512x512 66372669_p0.jpg)

In case this board dies too, there is also https://prolikewoah.com/mecha/ https://8kun.top/m/catalog.html
Oh and incidentally does anyone have the link to SRWE's board, eternitychan? Or is it totally dead, like 404'd?
>>177 I think it would be best to unify in a single site, this one seems to have the least leftover stuff and the most active crossboards. I agree with >>176, if 4chan stays dead for the next few weeks I think people will keep looking for a place like it so maybe leaving links in related boards would be good to revive this one.
>>179 Agree with this and I think 8chan moe is the best alternative as far I've seen, most of the other board seem less active and I don't think a lot of folk are in a rush to engage with duel in some forum. For now trying to keep things lively here and spread around this board is the only option, the refugees looking for an alternative will come over time. Besides, I don't think 4chan is coming back anytime soon, yeah they said something about two weeks but after all the shit being leaked about the Jannies? Yeah good luck to Hirogook with that. I don't think a lot of users would want to go to the same administration anyway.
>>180 >I don't think 4chan is coming back anytime soon Could be a good thing, "decentralizing" the imageboard experience doesn't necessarily mean the death of 4chins. As long as this place keeps a good moderation and a somewhat active userbase it might be a good alternative to the usual moderationless /m/.
Ah-ha, I knew 8 had a mecha board. The few and the proud. Anyway not so much a suggestion for the board but rather the posters, watch/read/play more mecha.
>>191 >watch/read/play more mecha You can make a rec thread if you want.
>>18 Thanks for reopening this board anon For the moment I would just suggest to spam this board around to other alt-chans or sites, we need to gather our people. Try to be respectable while doing so, we want everybody here so /m/ doesn't die scattered to the four winds. Maybe try to contact namefags/regulars? Not Duel or Bikinischizo (God have mercy) but the synchtube dudes, /gpg/ dude, Copy X etc. /m/ was full of really curated generals, I guess most were taken care of by a few, having them abck would be a game changer. >>180 >I don't think 4chan is coming back anytime soon I think that we are overstimating the jannie problem. Emails got leaked, but only some I think can be used to trace back to someone, and even considering that I think that a relatively good chunk of these people don't care at having 4chan's name attached to them. Moreover, the world is full of fools and finding someone else that want to do it for free should be easy. At worst, Musk will buy the site and fully integrate Twitter in the threads as a final defilement of Moot's site. >I don't think a lot of users would want to go to the same administration anyway while that's true, these altchans experiments will die if 4chan is reopened soon (~ a month) because an alive board is better than a dead one even if moderation is better on the latter. Time will tell how much this board will consolidate itself and how much Hiromoot will let 4chan bleed users before he reopens it. I guess this is also a reply for >>182
>>197 Check out >>>/v/1117667 (hopefully the link works), it's definitely coming back and with heavier security measures, hopefully they don't add any other stupid shit that prevents people from posting like the stupid 15 minute captcha and random regional blocks.
>>198 thanks for heads-up anon, appreciate it I don't know what to feel about this honestly. If I were a janitor/mod I would be fuming about them doing fuckall to keep the codebase up to date for a decade. No excuses would be sufficent. It is just plain negligence from Hiromoot's part. And honestly while I am the first to recognise that janitors and mods are needed, was there a board before the servers were unplugged that was actually well moderated? On the other hand, it would be stupid to say that we don't love in a way or another that shitty basket weaving forum. We would not be here and the same goes for many others on sister sites. Seeing a bit of sincere (at least a bit) love for the site and who is toiling for it behind the scenes is sweet. But it must be reflected once it goes back online: those boards must be actually moderated, not being treated as someone's playground.
>>198 >>206 RapeApe is lying out of his ass, as per usual. Nobody on their team has any webdev experience, and they'll have to rebuild everything from the ground up unless they want to use old, compromised code. It took Mangadex ten months to come back online after their DDOS attack, there is no way 4chan is coming back in three weeks. Make your bed here, 4chan is gone for good. >>197 >Musk will buy the site and fully integrate Twitter in the threads as a final defilement of Moot's site. Someone has to put that man out of my misery.
>>219 >they'll have to rebuild everything from the ground up They've proven they are extremely incompetent, I feel like they'll just patch it up to the best of their abilities (aka not very well) and then release a barebones "new and improved" site with a bunch of issues that will take months if not years to fix.
>>18 I would suggest to consider the use of visible IDs, but only after a sufficient number of anons find their way over here AND a event that generates a lot of posts happen. There is a good opportunity for this since the full roster reveal for SRW Y happens this next sunday, if a good number of anons get in here first.
/m/ is cordially invited to join us at the 4th Soulcalibur 6 tournament. You may choose 1 or 2 characters to fight (preferably a b-tan or character relevant for your board). The 4th tournament is being hosted here: >>>/icup/6376 It is an interboard game with CPUs fighting each other. Btw, this board needs a meta thread for invites like this.
>>224 I'll consider that when and if the board gets big enough (at least a couple generals with activity and some regular threads) and if enough people think it's necessary. >>229 This is the closest thing to a meta thread, will probably turn it into one thanks for the tip.
Is general sci-fi discussion allowed?
>>251 I remember we had LOGH and Star Trek threads allowed back in old /m/ but that's up the Board Owner, there's plenty of soft-/m/ stuff anyway.
>>224 I agree on this one when we get more people, Back in the 4cuck /m/ we had a some very annoying folk dragging down any topic discussion because they hated one show and what not. It could be a good way to pick the bad folk fairly quickly. >>238 I have a question, the rules clearly state no Avatarfagging which is totally fine, but are we talking about as in the "disruptive" or annoying kind? or is fine to throw in a couple of jokes or greentext every once in a while? Some people really like to get into the in-character humour in the SRW threads. >>229 Arrogance /m/en, our status?
>>251 Yeah anon go for it, it's not like we can get picky with our board traffic right now. Just don't try to turn it into an overall sci-fi board because that's not really the point. Maybe a thread for all things sci-fi would be a good thing, doesn't really need to be a general because threads stay up for far longer here. >>261 I don't think that could be considered avatarfagging, that's more "roleplaying" if anything. If you use an unrelated picture/character for your posts and keep talking about your life as if anyone cares then that's avatarfagging and it's not allowed. Just generally don't treat this as your personal blog or derail the threads and you should be good. >Arrogance /m/en, our status? I'd send Captain Quattro Bajeena with some character style that can use a rapier, I'm not sure if sending a robot would be too much of a hassle for the character creation. What do you guys think would be a good rep? Maybe we can send Noriko too.
>>272 I'm curious about the Wikia Anon when he pops in saying the board wiki has a major article update or whatever. It looks like he's trying to help people, does that fall under spam entirely or if he posts only once every 4-6 months that's okay?
Don't let this business distract you from the fact that there STILL isn't a /uc/ board ANYWHERE complete with faction flags (Federation, Zeon, AEUG, Titans, etc.)
>>280 Part of me thinks he should only post it when you it's related to the topic. Otherwise "site updates" unrelated either shouldn't be brought up or if they do should be an aside, otherwise that's not really helping anyone.
>>280 >>284 Or just let him his own wikia dedicated thread? I mean, it is helpful if people try to reach at him for articles instead of him popping out, I guess...
Can we still make DiscoTek announcement threads?
>>287 I just looked at it to get a link. The fuck did he do to the front page?
Anyone interested in an SD Gundam G Generation general since the new mobile gacha game for it came out, and it's surprisingly fun.
>>272 >I don't think that could be considered avatarfagging, that's more "roleplaying" if anything. If you use an unrelated picture/character for your posts and keep talking about your life as if anyone cares then that's avatarfagging and it's not allowed. Just generally don't treat this as your personal blog or derail the threads and you should be good. Based, good to know that. Jannies in our old /m/ would begin to randomly ban people for small shit like that. >I'd send Captain Quattro Bajeena with some character style that can use a rapier, I'm not sure if sending a robot would be too much of a hassle for the character creation. What do you guys think would be a good rep? Maybe we can send Noriko too. Char with rapier style sounds solid, I remember you could also make a very solid Ryoma Nagare in SCV but I don't know if 6 has axe or martial arts fighting styles, I guess Noriko seems like a cool choice but what sort of style could fit her?
(18.77 KB 144x874 Screenshot.png)

>>281 Apparently the previous Board Owner added a bunch of flags from Gundam and other shows, it's just a matter of enabling the feature. >>290 Announcements and stuff like that is generally allowed as long as you don't do it in an obnoxious manner or blatantly shilling something nobody really cares about. >>293 Not everything needs to be a general here, threads can live for far longer so just go ahead and make a thread if you want and make it however you want it to be. If you want to use the format of a general then go ahead and if you need to reformat the OP, add links or just change things around, I can edit it for you. >>298 I know jack about Soul Calibur, but I saw a guy with an Axe called Astaroth so I was thinking Getter 1 could be a good option too, easy enough silhouette and features.
>>182 >"decentralizing" the imageboard experience doesn't necessarily mean the death of 4chins. I agree, the rush to try and get everyone back here immediately is a mistake in my opinion. Let things spread out so a community can form. You concentrate too many people and you just invite all the shitheads to fuck with them. See every other social media platform, including 4chan.
>>280 >>284 >>287 The real issue with the /m/ wikia isn't necessarily Yapool telling about updates, but that it's not helping us specifically any more. Back when it was made other wikias like the SRW, Mazinger, Getter, etc. were nowhere near up to par as we know them now. Those improved. What ours was built to do was store information that Wikipedia was deleting/would have and it was done pretty quickly. But now a lot of hard to find information on mecha and tokusatsu became easier and decentralized. Sure, he makes pages for the lesser known /m/ titles and that does technically help regular anime and toku fans, especially how it's streamlined and easy to find. That's the problem, we're not regular, we can find obscure info like that much easier. And, if we're being honest, 90% of what the board discusses are the same franchises: Gundam, Mazinger, Getter, Geass, Kamen Rider, Sentai, Ultraman, Armored Core, Macross, VOTOMS, and Patlabor. The /m/ wikia only covers two of those and most anons don't jot notes down. The work being put in isn't the issue, it's the audience and we're not it. At least not any more. If he renamed it "Mecha Archive" or "Mecha Library" and stop associating with the board/community it could work out.
>>272 ch- I mean Quattro Bajeena would be a good pick if they can't put a robot in for us. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Coop from Megas XLR, but Four Vaginas might be a better pick.
Well this seems a comfy grave for us to roll around in. I don't know if it'll actually be active but I wouldn't mind having the /mmp/ duplicated on both boards. I'll probably post that tomorrow or something. I always wanted duplication with the original 8chan but then it kinda went full schizo as a website and I discarded the idea. >>197 >the synchtube dudes >/m/ was full of really curated generals, I guess most were taken care of by a few, having them back would be a game changer. I'll message Dorkly and Axia to give them a head's up to try this place out, but I'd recommend ghostposting something on desuarchive in the respective generals that they should try moving over (even if they don't have a thread here yet). While you're at it post one in the /mmp/ for me too.
>>18 Would you consider sticking around even when 4chan comes back up?
>>219 >Nobody on their team has any webdev experience and they'll have to rebuild everything from the ground up unless they want to use old, compromised code I guess it depends on what Hiromoot wants to do. Nothing stops him to hire someone to just branch something out of GitHub and have it ready in the very near future and hell for what I know 4chan's code isn't that complicated anyway compared to other giants like Reddit or Twitter which are possibly way more complex in terms of code. And they must have some code knownledge to have implemented the new chaptcha or the 900s timer. I don't think the coding is the problem, it is something they will figure it out and at most they will do as >>222 stated. The real problem in immediate terms is retaining their team (that message was at the end about that) and eventually find replacements. We will see. >>224 seconded if we get a steady traffic going. Right now there are no wackos here and it is not really needed. >>404 >I always wanted duplication with the original 8chan I think that's a good idea for the future, I don't know how it would be implemented however. Moreover, if 4chan comes back after a while, we could have a split again between anons who will come back and anons who want to stay here and I don't think the latter will be too happy with 4chan's anons filling their boards with their threads. >I'll message Dorkly and Axia to give them a head's up to try this place out, but I'd recommend ghostposting something on desuarchive in the respective generals that they should try moving over (even if they don't have a thread here yet) will do, nice to see some of you reaching this place

>>224 How is having visible IDs substantially different from reddit?
>>435 I think people just want to point out as soon Duel or some other autist make it here.
>>224 FUCK OFF This goes against everything ANONYMOUS image boards stand for. Go back to Plebbit and do not return.
>>443 Nta but to be fair always reset by each thread, at least that seems to work with local /v/
>>436 > some other autist make it here. Oh god, I'm already dreading /krg/'s resident shitposter appearing in 8chan's Kamen Rider thread.
>>445 We in the /srwg/ already dreading the kisekifag or drool makes it there.
>>421 I stuck around on 8chan until it got taken down, so if this lasts long enough for people to settle here I'd gladly stick around. >>435 4chan should've had thread ID for years. The sheer amount of samefagging was insufferable. Course removing the ip counter made it clear that enabling it was the goal. It's only needed if it's needed though.
>>448 Thread ids won't really deter deranged enough retards they'll just slap their router reset button between every post. Or get a script that does it.
>>346 I second this, while this is inheriting stuff from 4chan /m/, outside stuff like this shouldn't be associated with this place in case it becomes a permanent thing. >>272 >Just don't try to turn it into an overall sci-fi board because that's not really the point. About that, I realize that is a tricky proposal, but I would also suggest we attempt to narrow down a bit more our subject if this place becomes `home` but before things get out of hand, since while our subject is somewhat specific, it's broad enough to give away some distorted interpretations, like some anon back in 'old' /m/ claiming Dororo Emma is a mecha series because it was created by Go Nagai and it had a robot in one episode.
If /a/ accepts your board friend offer, would you consider adding >>>/jp/ to your's?
>>462 There's nothing wrong with talking about a one-off mecha episode
>>474 Probably not worth it for a single series, but there could be merit for one-off mecha episodes as a concept getting a single thread.
>>224 Agreed. 4chan /m/ had consistent problems with spammers and IDs have made the other boards I frequented much, much better.
>>421 It's not so much deciding to stay here as refusing to ever go back to 4chan, even if this place empties out entirely.
>>462 I don't mind Go Nagai being a subject in the board, but yeah forcing shit like that for no reason is just annoying.
4chan /m/ attracted a lot of classic anime discussions because it was difficult to find a way to discuss that on /a/, but with slower boards and the ability to create our own boards we might want to be choose to be more strict on staying on topic. I'm not really advocating for one or the other I'm just stating topics will likely come up if a community stays here.
>>474 As a one-off thing, sure, but using that one-off thing to claim a whole series to be /m/? No. Interesting enough, the JP Wikipedia article for Robot Anime has a bit on this with a quote from SRW producer Terada: >ロボットが出てるアニメとロボットアニメは別。単にロボットが出ていればOK、というわけではないです >There is a difference between anime with robots and robot anime. It's not OK to just have robots in it.
>>464 I don't see why not, a lot of /m/ content is japanese anyway.
>>490 While I go agree to some extend, I don't think there's enough people to talking about classic anime enough to make a board work at the moment, mostly considering how slow we are at here as well, If they are talking about old sci-fi anime or space drama is fine.
A little non-urgent thing, but on the present uncertainty of whatever will happen, depending on the speed, currently very slow, of this present board and the larger bump limit, I say all current generals and yet to be created generals to be numbered ZERO or go numberless, and if we stay here, then restart the count from 1.
>>421 I'll go wherever I need to discus Chinese robot cartoons so long as it isn't Reddit. The only reason I never used 8chan before was because I can't stand the layout, but I'll get used to it I guess. I hope Gookmoot and the mod team from 4chan gets a colony dropped on their heads.
I enjoy the slower speed, I hope it picks up organically, but the lack of immediate stimulation has been helping me get more work done.
So Dorkly's e-mails have been disabled due to inactivity kek, which means I've no way to contact him. Axia says he's out of town and can't be bothered to deal with it right now. He'll be back in a few days. >>423 >I think that's a good idea for the future, I don't know how it would be implemented however. In terms of 4chan coming back it's called "I would just watch/post in both threads", or alternatively "I would primarily post here and Axia would primarily post on 4chan". >I don't think the latter will be too happy with 4chan's anons filling their boards with their threads. I doubt anyone would really complain about the generals existing on multiple imageboards, considering the subject matter is relevant and they serve a purpose. >will do, nice to see some of you reaching this place I only found it from desuarchive posts, since I figured a bunker would crop up there. I also almost never post nowadays, so I'm not really useful for spurring activity. >>462 >>487 Yeah, as with many other creators I don't necessarily think there's a problem with having dedicated threads for them (Yokoyama, Nagai/Dynamic Pro, etc.), but if people are trying to make individual threads to discuss random non-/m/ works from them that's stupid. Use a general for the creator to discuss it, or some "one-off mecha episodes" thread like 476 said. As was said 4chan/m/ had a lot of that content because /a/ wasn't suitable for classical anime, but being able to create your own board on here means that's not really an issue anymore.
>>421 Definitely. >>464 Yes, I don't see why not. >>487 >>490 Organic discussion of related and adjacent topics is allowed. >>562 Nice to hear you guys are in contact and aware of this place. Also how are you guys feeling about this? >>229 Please post any suggestions for the two characters or vote for the ones we already discussed (Char, Noriko, Getter 1, Ryoma). While we are at it, does anyone know what happened to the 4cc? I hope those guys know we are posting here now.
>>421 Depends on the userbase, this place is slow for but the sense of freedom and features show promise. if this improves then sure. Honestly after the things being exposed about the Jannies, I don't think 4chan is returning for the time being anyway.
>>562 yeah that email hasn't worked for years, but it would be stupid to put together a whole new name and all that crap I did see the message over on mog-rog, thanks yeah tbh I hadn't been around 4/m/ too much in a long time, between the bitch of the captcha and irl stuff I can try to come around here more, and I'll get links to the various suggested alternatives up in the poll on my thing so there's some spots to point people to on my end. I'm working on dinner and stuff atm so I'll probably get that tonight at some point. Thanks for reaching out to me also wtf short names you're killing me brah lol
>>568 >spoiler The more I think about it the less I think I want to go back at all. They're even bigger idiots than I could have ever imagined.
>>569 I was referring to the two burner e-mails (well, one burner e-mail? You said the other was for synchtube so maybe you don't consider it a burner) we've used to communicate recently, not the OG one. Your host gave me a Error 550 for both
>>566 >While we are at it, does anyone know what happened to the 4cc? I hope those guys know we are posting here now. I saw then active on the 4cc stream site, some users have been using the chat to talk in the meantime about what's going on. The 4cup spring babby thing is happening right now. https://cytu.be/r/the4chancup That said I don't think they are ready to migrate the whole thing here but 8ch does feature it's own cup apparently. >>>/icup/
>>571 After seeing the amount of info going around about /a/ or /v/ jannies I think idiots is putting it lightly...
>>571 that leaked thread about whether they should filter words like "chud" or not lol
>>577 That list of filtered words was sure something...
(18.40 KB 497x378 ttgl.jpg)

>>572 oh yeah that one, yeah iirc mail.com went nuts on purging inactive accounts around the same time google did, so I've got tons of dead burners sorry about that local TTGL sticker I saw while out and about unrelated
>>568 >Honestly after the things being exposed about the Jannies, I don't think 4chan is returning for the time being anyway. What about ours?
>>584 An australian and a texan.
>>584 We only had two thankfully, but still none of then really helped aside from maybe keeping that one autists from /srwg/ at bay sometimes. I remember getting banned for very stupid reasons at times. /a/ and /v/ surely had it worse with the amount of jannies actively ruining their boards on a paycheck.
>>587 The problem with jannies and mods is that, for better or worse, they shape the board's culture, so if the board is dead except for a couple of retards spamming and ruining the few people left's fun and enjoyment, you know who's to blame.
>>587 I got warned and saa threads deleted for arbitrary reasons. Sometimes it was justified, sometimes not. Like a Star Wars thread that was explicitly about the robots got banned but a more generic Star Wars thread stayed up later on. I suppose in the end we were fortunate to have jannies who were simply incompetent as opposed to outright malicious.
>>178 Yeah, it's dead (and I don't feel like making a thread so I'll just post these here) http://srw.eternitychan.org/
/geg/ represent long live gundam evolution
>>585 Any more? I know at desuarchive their names were revealed. Who was our mod? I have a gut feeling it was uWu but not sure.
Might not fit the mecha topic, but I found the recent Chinese robots in a half-marathon amusing. Vibes of Mars Express. The low quality is from YouTube screenshot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnS3kU6FEQU?t=3320
>>104 I made an altchan for stuff like that but I didn't put the effort into shilling it and it died lol. Might try again one day. Anyways this place is pretty good and there's also wapchan which is mostly old anime in general but there's some mecha stuff.
>>446 >>18 And /krg/'s main shitposter is here. >>819
>>443 The only thing thread IDs do is allow you to identify samefagging and make it so that you don't have to specify "NTA" if you want to jump into someone else's discussion. No one knows who you are between threads. I support them.
Also is there a proper archive site for 8 or are we just relying on archive.ph for everything?
>>718 I was thinking about making an /m/ focused altchan, but wasn't sure whether it would gain any traction.
>>857 you will have to deal with the eternal "is it /m/" question and all the autism that comes with it. Like do you allow a dedicated Korone board because she did covered mecha anime OPs?
>>898 I figure it'd mostly be mecha stuff and I'd allow tokusatsu and maybe magical girl stuff as well. No obviously there wouldn't be a Korone board
>>926 If you don't have a Korone board then every board will become a Korone board. It is not a choice.
>>929 I'd prefer to have a dead site than allow vtubers
