/sffg/ - Science Fiction & Fantasy General Scribe 04/16/2025 (Wed) 18:24:42 No. 709
good to know this general made it over.
>>710 the general made it, but none of the posters.
>>714 Give it time, i'm sure they'll come.
Thoughts on LitRPG? I personally like it, but find that lots of stories just use it as a crutch to rush into unearned power fantasies.
Joy, I can finally participate in /sffg/ that isn't covered in litrpg and adjacent. Science fiction bros, what have you read recently? I just finished the first Foundation novel and it's what Asimov does best: the "big idea" and long term outlook. He's really like Clarke in that respect; neither of them can write fully fleshed out characters with strong personalities, but they can create intriguing universes. I'm about one-fourth of the way through the second novel, Foundation and Empire.
I read The Face in the Abyss recently. It was a fun, but Graydon was a retard for obsessing over Suarra when the Snake Mother was way better.
Somebody made a >>>/sffg/ board for some reason.
>>752 I don't think /sffg/ warrants an entire board. It doesn't seem like many anons made the migration for /lit/, let alone a specific general.
First for xianxia

Progression Fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy where characters become increasingly capable over time through a trackable, mechanized power-scaling system, usually embedded directly in the narrative. It includes stories where growth is structured and central to the plot, even if the system is arbitrary, antagonistic, or unreliable. anywho, are there any smutty progression fantasy novels with loli/shota MCs or LIs?
>>752 The reasons were stated in the sffg Goodreads group message. If you aren't a member, that's your problem. >>753 More may may come, or not, after I broadcasted to the 900+ member group. Regardless, I personally only consider this a transitional location. I don't think there will be all that many, so may as well have as I h fun with it as possible under your own control.
>>756 Nobody is in your shitty spergreads group

Any MSGK fantasy?
>>709 I am suffering severe 4chan withdrawal
>>765 I found it strangely liberating.
In all honesty the debacle might have been for the better. If in the end 4chan doesn't return, the community here already has far less bait, shitposts and trolls. Now, I am in a mood for good Sword & Sorcery from the 70s and the 80s. Any recommendation? I already know (and enjoy) the usual suspects.

>>743 >Science fiction bros, what have you read recently? it's "modern sf" but six wakes was decent. resolution was kinda ass, though.
>>741 dog shit genre and the people who liked on the old board are acked

>>714 I'm here! I'm the faggot who made the schizo What I read images for BotNS. I hope other anons such as Read Radix, Germanic guy who dated an older woman, the review anon and others find us here soon! >>741 I've never read any, but I'm open to try if there's a good introductory book that doesn't drag on across a million sequels. I suspect this genre is quantity over quality like sword and sorcery. >>743 I've tried Foundation, but gave up very soon. I've given up on "We"by Yevgeny Zamyatin, the original dystopian novel. It sucks, just a romance novel set in a slightly dystopian country that's about to enter the space age. I am reading all source material for Cyberpunk 2013 and Cyberpunk 2020. This is my new hyperfixation.
>>767 The Eye of Argon
Any thoughts of Day of the Oprichnik? Found a copy in a local swap library and it looks pretty good but I wanna make sure it's not total Russian dogshit first
Sanderson is what I usually read, but looking for something more lighthearted. Discworld was what I found, but this shit has decades of books. Is there something in a similar vein but shorter? Like a trilogy at most?
>>791 Discworld's books are usually self-contained affairs, not actual sagas. Not only that, but it actually is several different series crammed into one, so you only need to read the specific cast/weekly adventure you want rather than all of them.
(219.12 KB 736x1320 jha4toe9coca1.jpg)

>>791 Discworld is a setting with several series set in it, kind of like Forgotten Realms when it comes to D&D books.
Just read Lest Darkness Fall for the first time. I liked it. I think most of the comedy was lost on me though; I understood when a situation was supposed to be funny, but it didn't make me laugh. I think I'd have been more receptive if I'd been American.
you can upload entire books here right?
>>808 takes a million years to upload
>>804 There is zero need for an entire board.
