Joy, I can finally participate in /sffg/ that isn't covered in litrpg and adjacent. Science fiction bros, what have you read recently? I just finished the first Foundation novel and it's what Asimov does best: the "big idea" and long term outlook. He's really like Clarke in that respect; neither of them can write fully fleshed out characters with strong personalities, but they can create intriguing universes. I'm about one-fourth of the way through the second novel, Foundation and Empire.

I read The Face in the Abyss recently. It was a fun, but Graydon was a retard for obsessing over Suarra when the Snake Mother was way better.

In all honesty the debacle might have been for the better. If in the end 4chan doesn't return, the community here already has far less bait, shitposts and trolls. Sanderson is what I usually read, but looking for something more lighthearted. Discworld was what I found, but this shit has decades of books. Is there something in a similar vein but shorter? Like a trilogy at most?

Just read Lest Darkness Fall for the first time. I liked it. I think most of the comedy was lost on me though; I understood when a situation was supposed to be funny, but it didn't make me laugh. I think I'd have been more receptive if I'd been American.
