Grandpa kind of embodied some of the spirit of Homestuck, by intending to bring a collection of history into the unknown future. Timelines and time travel and death and new life are a huge part of homestuck and it's always inviting you to see the similarities and differences between people separated by time. The fact that Homestuck is dated is, to me, a core part of it's appeal. And yes, the comfort in which teens used to call each other retards is a piece of anthropologic history.
