Looks like 4chan will be back in a few days
>>481127 Turns out they’re not serious about fixing the site. 4chan is entirely compromised and will just get hacked again
unironically don't care. I'm never making a post there ever again. I had enough captcha for a lifetime.
>>481127 Will it even be safe to use? Who knows what shit people might exploit on it.
The moment it goes online, the same people will hack it again. What is the point of this.
>>481184 they deserve it if they didn't fix the PDF vulnerability that caused the hack in the first place.
>>481193 That shit will take years to fix its unironically fucking over just bury it already
>>481127 i aint going back there anymore. this place feels lot real and makes more sense than 4chan
>>481269 The psycho behind the hack posted the source code on both sharty and kiwifarms so expect a farm scumbag to be the next hacker once it goes up
>>481127 This is fucking bullshit and if it's not they're in for a world of problems >over a dozen jannies and a mod confirmed to have quit Imagine reopening a site with less moderation and if the chance they filled those positions, they haven't given it nearly enough time to trust the new jannies. They're taking a big gamble by turning it back on too soon.
>>481575 That was fake, you retard.
>>481592 cuckchanner cope
So dudes but I have to say it : fuck the jews, fuck niggers and karate kick jannies.
>>481575 they should run a sandbox powered by AI for a week so all the discord raids can run their course
>>481521 This website has actual human interaction, there are no bots, no marketers and no fanboys. But this could change if it becomes popular.
>>481131 How do any of us know how long it takes to patch the source code? What if there's been some top-level /g/ guys working on it? 4chan is so beloved by so many people in a lot of fields, it wouldn't surprise me if some crack programmers volunteered their time to fix the site.
>>483160 Half of /g/ was arguing over which linux distribution or desktop environment was better and the other half was marketing. I don't think any competent people who browsed that board would be willing to repair it for free. Valuable people do not work for free and 4chan doesn't like paying for work.
>>481127 Not sure how relevant this is to it, but Desuwa declared the leaked source code is under a WTFPL license a couple days ago, he's the guy named by the leaker in the first sharty thread that pulled the servers https://github.com/AlexDev404/4chan-main/blob/main/LICENSE.md
>>483160 Well I've upgraded other PHP + DB + dependencies + OS + whatever else for work in the past. A proper upgrade across the board will take weeks. In no small part to the fact that 2016 PHP is so out of date that you have to go through at least 2 major versions that require manual revisioning. Plus god only knows the MySQL server. Wouldn't be surprised if they upgraded the OS and their libc version changed and now all the DB indices are borked. No one on /g/ is going to waste their time doing loads of free work for Hiroshimoot / RageApes
>>483546 From what little experience I have, web development seems hellish. I don't know how people do it.
>>481127 I don't believe it
>>483555 it pays well and when the team is on top of things it will never ever get to be this bad. 9 years out of date isn't just poor management. it's complete neglect
>>483204 What does this mean? That the source code is proprietary, and actually can't be touched with impunity?
>>481127 I'm going to shill 8chan there. Hopefully we can replace the circlejerkers
>>483677 no silly, the opposite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTFPL?useskin=vector what they should do if they were smart would be to have a team of pros doing a complete re-implementation on safe and modern systems with a goal to have it good in a few weeks, while a few amateurs re-open the site with the actual code they patch back up asap after each new hack that won't fail to happen for each existing vulnerability it will be a hacking contest between groups of skiddies to see who can pwn the site the fastest before someone else steals their new pwnage, with the site going down every few hours and producing significant amounts of new memes and fun while keeping the buzz active, before the pro version arrives
>>481127 Once it's open again, will it still be compromised, or will they have something to prevent another hack like that again?
it's over for 4chan USAID funding ran out 4chan was ordered by US glowies to keep running as a containment board and allowed everyone with their botarmies to shit up the place. When you can't control a certain group of people, you just keep them divided and confused: destabilised perception. Literal psychological assault on your mind. That is what 4chan was: to subdue dissident political power.
>>483912 >Literal psychological assault on your mind. That is what 4chan was: to subdue dissident political power. you're literally free now lol because they hooked you so deep you couldn't unplug yourself. Rejoice anons
>>483905 the present code is borked beyond belief because it's been left unpatched for several versions of the software it ran on, so it has as many vulnerabilities as were found for the last 10 years, multiplied by the amount of stupid that was deployed in its code since its inception the whole website would have to be reprogrammed from scratch by not-poojeet coders on modern backend to be stable today
>>483912 >>483918 The government got me addicted to shitposting and raped me by making everything so low quality
>>481184 I hope so. This is the best chance of a wakeup call ever. 4chan never should have been allowed to reach the point it's at.
