As far as I can guess, one of two things will happen: 1. One altchan will emerge as the undisputed king shit nigger, absorbing almost all of 4chan's old traffic, and it will assert itself on the internet as the "main" new chan. This would kill 4chan once and for all, even if it comes back online. 2. We all remain scattered among the various small altchans and never coalesce around one in particular in the next week or two (or three). So no one altchan truly asserts dominance. This would leave space for 4chan to reassume its place at the top of the pecking order when it comes back online. Either way, we'll wind up sooner or later with a "main" image board just like we had before the hack. It's just a question of if it'll be 4chan like before, or some new chan. 8moe certainly seems like the most likely candidate to pick the crown out of the gutter given that it seems to have become the busiest of the altchans I know of. But we'll see.
