I think the idea is that right now ban evasion works like: 1. I ban someone 2. They change proxy nodes 3. They solve a captcha 4. go back to 1 But if we have IDs, if they don't want to effectively be ignored, they have to do 2-4 all by themselves without any BO or BV intervention (step 1). For serial spammers, which are present in certain threads (and currently there is no IDs for only a few threads feature), this should hypothetically save BO/BV's time by a lot. I'm going to look around the board and see how it is. This is definitely not an irreversible decision. Unlike 4chan's old guard that would never change anything, here we can experiment, which I think is a very good thing.

For now, if you want to not see IDs, just paste this in your settings (gear wheel in the top bar) > CSS settings: .spanId {display:none;} I think that should work
