Bring all your hardware, software and other troubles here.
Family has been using iTunes for years, they even bought some shows and films through the service, however they were in for a rude awakening about a month ago when they found out that one of the series they had bought (Babylon 5) was no longer available. And that they were not given any compensation for it's removal. So to prevent this from happening with the shows and films that they do still "own" through the service, how would I go about making offline copies of iTunes videos? I already just tried downloading a video file directly through the services, however attempting to open it the resulting M4V file causes an error with MPC. Briefly searching, this is because the file has DRM, so how do I remove that?
>>17479 What did you use to download it?
>>17481 The iTunes app on their computer, of course.
>>17479 Is there a reason you need to rip the file directly from iTunes instead of just pirating it?
>>17507 I'm one of those autists who prefer to do things "properly".
>>17532 When it comes to media pirating it is almost invariably just going to get you a better higher quality product with no DRM, and unlike pirating software there's zero risk involved. Not to mention it's unbelievably easier than even getting shit you paid for to work. You're essentially saying you want to pay for youtube premium to download a youtube video instead of typing yt-dlp [URL] into a terminal. To say that the former is "proper" isn't autism, it's retardation. Pirating media is the proper way to get the best quality content with the most agency.
>>17533 >When it comes to media pirating it is almost invariably just going to get you a better higher quality product with no DRM, and unlike pirating software there's zero risk involved. Not to mention it's unbelievably easier than even getting shit you paid for to work. And here's the flipside of that argument and what I'm more concerned about: I don't want these companies using me as an excuse for why they cannot make money. I don't care if I can get a "better quality version" through piracy as that's moot to the central point that these companies justify their shitty practices as deturrents against "unscrupulous characters". If I pirate content, then I'm proving them right. Therefore the only correct course of action would be to deprive them of all excuses for why it is they're allowed to treat their customers like shit.
>>17535 I don't think you quite understand how commerce works. You're currently paying Apple to not give you access to media you own. You're actively rewarding them for providing you a shitty service, which means they will continue to provide you with a shitty service because there is no incentive to acquire your capital, you've already given it to them. Companies only provide better products as a means of increasing revenue. The only way to show that they have room to grow that revenue stream is to not give them money for their subpar products in the first place. And even with all of that said, you literally already paid for the products in question. Pirating content you already bought has zero ethical consequences perceived or otherwise.
>>17545 He could always sell his itunes account to cause actual financial harm. In the videogames market, the reselling of used games causes an estimated 3x loss in sales compared to piracy. Of course not many people would trust you to not recover the account.
Anyone here using Librewolf to post? Every time I try visiting this site I get to the ToS, agree, and I'm just stuck here. Pressing back just brings me back to the ToS, trying to visit a board/thread manually does the same thing. I have a bunch of extensions so I'm trying to nail down if it's a Librewolf thing or an extension thing.

>>17684 I don't have anything that prevents cookies as far as I know, I tried clearing the cookies and the only cookie I'm getting is picrel, which looks wrong.
>>17683 Also using Librewolf, seems to be working normally even with resist fingerprinting on.
>>17691 Damn, I've done so many tweaks over the years that I don't even know the first thing to look for. I guess I'll do some digging.
Does anybody know if NTFS is "production ready" on Linux? I have a Win+ads 10 machine that I'm going to put ... probably Ubuntu ... onto instead of upgrading to Spyware 11. However, I have a 1 TB RAID 1 of spinny disk with all my important data, and it's NTFS. The last thing I want is for shitty Linux drivers to fuck my backup drive. So, how is Linux NTFS support these days?
>>17699 I would backup and reformat. ntfs-3g is very reliable but has a learning curve. Don't try to use motherboard RAID with Linux.
>>17699 I mean it's fine and will mount, you may run into an issue where it flags as dirty and you get "The NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume read-only with the 'ro' option." so look into ntfsfix. That said, I would really push you to look into Arch or EndeavorOS if you want an easy way to install Arch. Then look into btrfs+timeshift.
>>17727 >so look into ntfsfix No. Read the manual. If the filesystem is marked dirty in normal operation, you clear it with chkdsk under Windows.
>>17727 I think what I'm going to do is just shrink the NTFS volume, and then mount the fucker (all of my archived data) as RO, while formatting the rest of the drive as ext4 for any new shit I collect under Linux. >>17715 > Don't try to use motherboard RAID with Linux. But, I like to live dangerously. I like how the Arch wiki calls it fake RAID.
>>17699 Honestly, from what I've read, I would never mount an NTFS volume under Linux no matter what people tell me. Just set up a system where you can access the destination system from Windows and copy your stuff over.
>>17820 It's fine. It was fine 20 years ago. 90% of the time it's wintoddlers doing retarded shit and blaming the tool, and the other 10% is bugs in the new kernel driver.
>>17864 >It was fine 20 years ago It definitely doesn't seem like it from all the reports online. Freetards generally have a tendency to exaggerate the production-readiness of, well, literally anything, and saying everything is the user's fault. If it's so easy to make a mistake in the process, that's another reason for not relying on it for important data.
>>17868 >production-readiness Paragon was selling that bug ridden kernel driver of theirs as production software for a long time, and people were paying for it. The problem with ntfs on Linux is the guys writing the drivers dgaf if it's END USER ready. Production reads the manual, tests their use case, and has backups. They can tolerate a lot of jank.

Whenever the Radeon GPU driver crashes (this is a very rare case), the computer no longer recognizes the GPU after a restart, and typically I have to reinstall the driver using the executable from AMD's website. Is there a way to set the computer to recognize the GPU using the driver already installed?

If I want to transfer my Plex server from one desktop to another along with all my content can I just move the HDD I have my TV/movies on and plug it into a new computer or will I be forced to reformat it before it'll work on the new computer?
