To me it's not the loss of the "history", since yes there are archives. It's more that the "culture" of the board is gone. There was a feeling that one could expect when going to that board, when lurking, when reading replies. A tone that posters would take, words they would use, jokes they would make. Not better or worse than other boards' cultures, just different, and one that I had grown comfortable with. That culture is probably not unique to /r9k/ but I doubt posters will congregate here in the necessary scale again to re-create it. But I suppose a better focus is shaping this /r9k/ into a nice place in itself.
