Yeah, but the problem is that some interesting communities have died. Some topics are too weird, niche, or just politically incorrect for leddit, and other chans are too slow and don't have enough people to keep a general alive. I used to frequent some generals about weird Japanese shit, art, and idols, and we had lots of resources, links with important info, images, videos, schedules, etc. sometimes we made dark jokes, but we weren't that edgy either. On leddit we'd be banned immediately, and the discussion there feels overly sanitized due to the karma system. It creates this forced positivity where you're not allowed to complain or say anything negative yeah 4chan was a shithole and some schizos and contrarians used to ruin the thread sometimes, but that's the prize to pay for freedom of expression
